I would not recommend this facility. This was my first visit to the facility and it was to meet my trainer. The owner was at the front desk and had me fill out a card which was no problem, then went on to describe the fees, again no problem, $59 a month with a $100 initiation fee with drop in at $20. He then went on to say the fees are going up in August to $69 because of location expenses. He said they were the cheapest in the area which I knew was not true. At the time I did not know he was the owner. So I asked are those the only two options. He said yes so I asked was he one of the owners again yes and before I said anything else he responded with an attitude that “if I was not it would not matter anyway”. I was not sure where that came from nor the attitude. I continued asking questions about the rates in a very normal manner and explained to him why I was asking, one I was not going to using the club no more than 4 times a month and I asked was he sure his rates were the lowest in the area. His attitude and language grew worse. He went on to say “he is not answering my questions because I asked him already”. Which is not true because once it was clear there was no movement on the monthly fee I then asked about the drop in fee of $20 and that is when he told me he felt like I was offending him and he was getting angry and did not want to argue. I was shocked! He was offended and getting angry and thought we were arguing because I was asking questions! I was not unprofessional by any means, nor using any aggressive langue, nor posture I did not have a negative thought in my mind, I was just asking questions like any normal person would by no means did I think we were arguing. I then apologize to him and said my no means was I trying to offend him by asking questions and if so I’m sorry. I apologized twice and he continued looking at his computer monitor and would not acknowledge me! Again shocking! Here I’m the customer and I’m apologizing to the owner who demonstrated totally unprofessional behavior and it continued. As a customer I expect excellent customer service at all times particularly if you are trying to win my business. If a customer prefers to ask questions, why is that a problem, particularly if the questions are logical ones about the rate structure. This is a place I would not recommend.

Being new to Houston, one of my first priorities was finding a good gym. What matters the most to me is group fitness classes and thats really what drew me to Quality Life. I gym shopped for a good 2 months trying out almost every gym inside the loop including 24 Hour Fitness, LA Fitness, the Rice gym (Im a grad student) etc etc. Each of them felt generic or just plain uninspiring with boring group fitness classes. I dont care about luxury towels or hair dryers in the bathrooms, I want Body Pump and Body Combat (Les Mills classes)! Ive had gym memberships in Florida, D.C., Virginia and Colorado and theyve all had Les Mills classes or something similar so I was VERY surprised that theyre so hard to find in Houston! Sure you can get Body Pump at 24 Hour, but thats it! Thank god for Quality LIfe Fitness. These classes are awesome and really motivating. Especially if youre like me and are super bored by treadmills and ellipticals. Theyre great tools for exercise, but they dont inspire me or get me pumped up to try and lose weight (something Ive struggled with my whole life). Quality Life Fitness is adding more classes all the time, including the Real Ryder classes which Ive never seen before. Think of a regular Spinning bike but one that moves side to side. Is it going to be a bit pricier than a cookie cutter gym? A bit, sure. But, Im a grad student (read: broke) and I still manage to budget money for something thats worth it. Quality Life Fitness is worth it. Its a small, clean gym with great service, and attentive management. I know theyre planning on growing the business and expanding so Im sure the rates will go up (just like any normal gym). Get in now! I know Highland Village and Galleria traffic blows, but try them out. Get a guest pass (free) and take a few classes. PS: I also posted this review on Yelp. I honestly rarely review things, but this is a great gym in a city that really needs them, so I think people should know about it!

DON"T DO IT!!!!!!! I bought a Groupon promotion to try out the facility and the classes for 1 month. I really hate to give the gym only 2 stars because the owner is a dick, but he totally ruined my experience. I will say though, that the staff and instructors are truly awesome. However, the Owner is R-U-D-E, RUDE!!!!!! Three of my friends bought the Groupon and he treated all three of us with such disrespect. I lost my card and asked if I can have a new one to finish my session and he goes on to tell me about his $15,000 overhead and how he does not make money from Groupon and on and on about things a visiting potential member does not want to hear. He said the purpose of Groupon was to give exposure to the clubs website and to attract people to the club, which makes all the sense in the world, but dont treat your POTENTIAL members with attitude because we heard of you through the very vehicle that you, as the owner, chose to advertise with. After all of the slack I received for not having my card, I was finally allowed to go to the class. After class I asked for membership information and was met with more hostility and rudeness from the Owner who actually said to me "24 Hour Fitness is cheaper." WTF???? That was a clear indicator that he didnt want us to come back. The price is a bit steep, but you get what you pay for. The instructors, like I mentioned earlier, are more than amazing, the classes are small and personal, and going to them is still cheaper than hiring a personal trainer; but having experienced the rudeness of the owner totally turned me off to the whole entire gym. And dear Rude-ass owner, if you know anything about cost-benefit analysis, you would know that if your cost of advertising on Groupon is exceeding your long term benefit, you should probably freaking stop using Groupon as your sole web-based marketing vehicle and look into something else.

I mainly wanted to write a review to address the prior review and clarify some misleading information. I’ve been a member since November or so and I really enjoy the less mills classes and the energy of the instructors. I think they were in the right to give preference to members from a business perspective and in fairness. It’s my experience that most (though not all) people just hop from one living social/groupon deal to another with little to no intention of actually joining. I applaud them for being loyal to current members. What is misleading about the review below is that they did not block off entire classes for members only, they said members are guaranteed a spot and livingsocial people can fill in the remaining spots – not so bad when you are paying what, a dollar or two per class. As far as I know, there was only one day where that was even as issue and now that the new years resolutioners are slowly dropping off I don’t foresee that being an issue again. I enjoy the gym, the classes, and the people there and wanted to put in a good word for them.
