Let me be the first to say that I have been going to Pep Boys in Kingwood, TX since I got my Chevy Cruze back in 2011. They have done everything from oil changes to complete tire changes for me. About a month ago I went in to have an oil change and the first challenge I experienced was upon checking in. They couldnt find my phone number in the system and had no record of me having gone to that location before. I went ahead, re-registered myself and they proceeded with the oil change. Usually they will replace washer fluid as well as put air in my tires when doing an oil change. This time, the oil change took over an hour, and I was the only customer there. When I got back into my car I noticed my tire pressure was low and no washer fluid had been replaced. Giving them the benefit of the doubt I went about my day since technically those services are not included in a routine oil change. Then the real problems began... Two days later my check engine light came on, and my car was feeling sluggish, I then noticed oil drops in my driveway, and a burning smell along with smoke whenever I drove my car. I went ahead and re-scheduled an appointment to have my car checked, once again. I went in on a Monday evening, once again maybe 2 customers there, and it took TWO HOURS. Within these two hours they were able to determine 2 things. 1. That someone who did the oil change spilled oil all over the engine and the dripping was from the excess oil in the pan that had over flowed. 2. The IMT valve had been snapped in half. When i asked how this happened the guy respond with "I dont know, maybe it happened during the oil change" to me that response means someone broke my IMT valve, knew about it, and proceeded to give me my car back in a worse condition than I brought it in. They then told me they could not locate an IMT valve and it was too late in the day but it wouldnt hinder the performance of my car and it was okay to drive. I was told they would call me back the next day once they located the part. A WHOLE WEEK went by and no one contacted me. Not only that but they didnt bother to clean up the oil spill. That following Wednesday I was going through a car wash when my driver side window motor broke. At that point I was unhappy and decided to take my car to the local chevy dealer. Upon taking my car to the dealer they were able to diagnose what REALLY happened to my car...something Pep Boys should have done immediately when they saw the check engine light on. There was a hole in my radiator (something pep boys misdiagnosed and proceeded to tell me my car was ok to drive), oil all over the engine, and the IMT valve destroyed. The reason why they could not locate the part for the IMT valve is because you cannot buy that part separately...an entire intake manifold housing unit would need to be purchased. As mechanics, they SHOULD HAVE KNOWN this. Chevrolet had to repair the radiator as well as the IMT valve which they notified me DOES HINDER the performance of your car and was a result of the sluggishness I was feeling. Not only that, but the IMT valve doesnt just snap, this is something that occurs due to human error...highly likely to have been done during the oil change. The total repairs on my car? $2,144.19...I went in for a routine oil change, and got my car back broken and needing severe repairs done to undo he damage Pep Boys did to my car. I WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK!! They have lost a loyal customer and in my opinion...should be responsible for the repairs I had done. Nobody even offered a solution at Pep Boys. They claimed responsibility and did nothing. Not even a phone call to this day.

I will not use this location for my auto maintenance any longer. I stopped into the Pep Boys at 2408 Northpark Drive on January 1, 2015 at 2:45pm to get a regular oil change. I have been loyally using this location for all of my service needs since it was a My Mechanic before, and a Christian Brothers Automotive before that. When I got into the store, Booker was on the phone, so I waited at the desk. As Bookers call concluded, another employee entered from the garage. Booker began speaking with his back to me, and I thought he was speaking with me. I began to explain that I was in for an oil change, but Booker was speaking to the other employee about his break time and not to me. I waited a moment to get a sense of what was going on. Frustrated by being ignored, I quickly turned to leave saying "You two dont even realize that Im here". Pushing the door open, I hear Booker tell me that I have left my keys on the desk. As I return to the desk for my keys, Booker begins his snide remarks: "Youre probably going to need your keys." "How are you going to start your car without the key?" etc. My loyalty to local businesses has a limit. Being mocked and treated the way I was treated by Booker is well beyond my limit.

I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation before vacation. I was told the car needed struts and front brakes…was shown leaking struts. I said repairs won’t happen before vacation, was told it would be dangerous. When I continued to insist the repairs wouldn’t be done until after vacation, I was told chances were the back brakes would need to be done them too, so that would be a charge in addition to the $700 I was quoted for struts and front brakes. I was totally suspicious, as everyone in the shop that day was told their vehicle had major repairs needed, and because I was sure the struts were not bad enough to be dangerous. After vacation, I researched and found another area shop with a good reputation (Kingwood Tire and Automotive.) I took my car there, where they found that not only my struts are fine, but my brakes have another 30% to go before they need to be changed. I suspect the “oil” on the struts was put there to try to force me to pay for a repair I didn’t need….when researching my repair charges, I discovered my struts are only a year and a half old. This shop tried to rip me off solid. Beware if you frequent Pep Boys.

Arrived last Thursday to get oil changed. The gentleman stated that he did not have enough of the royal purple that I had requested and he would have it in a few days. I just arrived and no one was in the location but doors were open. Anothercustomer was in the waiting area and told me that someone was there. After five minutes the same gentleman that was there Thursday pulled into the third bay, asked me to open the hood to see what weight oil it was I needed again and remembered I requested royal purple. After a few more minutes, a different man came out and told me that the royal purple that they had was reserved for another customer and that I would not be able to get my oil changed. Very unproffessional, discourteous, and downright idiotic way to conduct business. You will not see me bringing any of my vehicles to this location again
