I have never taken the time to express my frustration through a formal complaint or write a review, however, this one cannot be overlooked. Yesterday I had new tires put on my Ford Edge and after I took it to the local Firestone in McKinney Texas to have a wheel alignment done. They were courteous and got the car in to be aligned right away. After about an hour the alignment was complete and I picked it up. They said everything was good, but as I drove away, the car was pulling hard to the left. I immediately returned to the store to have them take a look at the car again. After about 30 minutes of the "Master Mechanic" looking the car over, they told me that there was nothing the could do to get the alignment corrected and that the lower control arm would need to be replace. I asked them why they believed that it was the control arm and they told me that it looked bent and that it had paint missing. They proposed about $420 worth of work. I thanked them for letting me know and informed them that I would replace it myself. On our way out I went to crawl under the car to take a look and the general manager interrupted me to let me know the exact same thing the sales guy and mechanic told me. This is where things get a little odd. When I got home I put my car on a lift to look at the control arm. There is nothing wrong with it and there is no paint missing from it. Frustrated with the run around as to why my car couldnt be aligned, I took it to a different Firestone in Allen Texas today. They quickly put it up on the rack and let me know that the alignment was fine and after looking at it, it was tire pull and that I would have to have it switched out. It took 30 minutes and there was nothing wrong with the car itself. I got the tire switched and the car is good. My problem is that the staff at McKinney was deceitful in doing business. There was nothing visibly or physically wrong with the control arm and a $400 fix would have done nothing. I spent 5 hours in Firestone and the end result has nothing to do with the alignment. The other issue is that the alignment report they showed me had major discrepancies from the actual report. They have wasted my time, and insulted my intelligence. I will not be returning to Firestone.

What Firestone does not know is that Im a mechanic and a good one. The only reason I go to Firestone, or this one, is because I bought two new tires from them with warranty to add to my car with the other two newer tires I just bought a month before from Discount Tire. Both times I went in to get them rotated - they did not rotate them - but tried to lead me to believe that they did because their tires were on the rear of my car with warranty and they did not want to put their tires on the front of my car which is a front wheel drive so they wouldnt wear down. Hence, they wouldnt have to prorate on their warranty. Not only that after an hour and a half for a tire rotation they came with two list of over $4,000 of "recommended work" to my car which, nice guy that I am, did not tell them that Im a mechanic? And not one of those mechanics who dont take care of their own vehicle. I know this vehicle like the back of my hand and everyone I own 100%. The recommended work was trumped up but I didnt say anything because I was just there for them to rotate their tires which they wouldnt even do. Furthermore when I finally called them out on it they switch the phone three times on me to three different guys and try to question my intelligence and avoid their lies or having to tell the truth even when they were caught dead on- with proof- couldnt even say they were wrong or let me fix it. That place is trash. You go there for oil change, pull your dipstick and make sure theres actually new oil in it. And get under the car and make sure they actually gave you a new oil filter or just left your old one on there. If they cant be trusted in the small things like rotating tires how could they be trusted in the Big things? This is a franchise whose motto is written in the lobby being trusted and honest? Youre better off calling that shade tree mechanic with no teeth if you ask me.

After reading many negative reviews for all surrounding Firestone locations, I was very hesitant to even give the company a chance. Thing is, I know that most of the time, the people who have had great experiences will rarely take the time to write about it, and those who have complaints wont hesitate to share it. I listened to my gut and decided to give them a try and determine for myself. I picked this location because they were rated higher than the other local ones. Let me just say that I had the best experience compare to many other automotive places Ive been to. The manager, Eddie Wyman, was just wonderful. I had came in with an estimate from another local auto shop, and for what needed to be done, I thought that the price was quite steep. I showed Eddie the estimate and he was taken aback himself. Long story short, he was able to do the job and saved me a great deal of stress and money. He took the time to show me my car and explained everything throughly. My usual experiences at other automotive places are ---- "we looked at your car and heres what needs to be done and the cost. the end." Did he make additional recommendations? Of course. Was it uncomfortable and "in my face" sort of way? Absolutely not. The way I see it is, if I dont want the additional service, I have a right to say no. I went in to this Firestone location a hesitant customer and walked out of there a very happy one. I will definitely be back!

Ive been getting my oil changed here for about a year. However, Im going to look for somewhere else from now on. Pros: Fairly efficient and courteous. Waiting area is okay. Cons: They constantly try to sell services that you dont need. Dishonest/shady pricing. Every time I come in, they try to sell me unnecessary services. It gets quite annoying having to talk my way out of their sales pitch every time I get an oil change. This last time, I asked for a standard oil change and was pressured to get a high mileage oil -- being told that standard oil will "cause leaks." (high mileage oil just has some extra conditioners in it for old seals/gaskets. Youre better off with frequent, standard oil changes.) I had to get stern with the salesman to convince him that I wanted the standard oil. He quoted a price of about $30 (what Ive always paid at Firestone). When I presented him with a coupon for $10 off (from the Firestone website) he wouldnt accept it and told me that he had already applied the coupon to my bill and thats why I was getting the price I was (the same price as always..?) The invoice he gave me didnt reflect any coupon or discount... Im tired of these guys. Im going to look elsewhere. Every Firestone that Ive been to has been similar. Im done with them.
