When I signed up with Just Fitness Mesquite several years ago, I signed a contract to pay $20 a month for 2 years, and then I get free month to month membership dues. Shortly after they were bought out by You Fit (which management failed to communicate to the cast majority of their members), I was billed $10.83. I went to the gym front desk to find out why I was being billed all of the sudden. The employee didnt know why but told me to come by the next day between 10am and 6pm to speak to the manager about it. When I did come by the next day, I was told he had already left for the day and then was told to call the following day to see if and when he would be in. After a couple of days, thinking how the gym was starting to become run down (trash everywhere, several pieces of the equipment dont work, half of the tv channels dont work), I went in to cancel my membership. I explained to the male employee (who was too focused on drinking his coconut water) my situation, and all he could tell me is that I should have some kind of a loophole in my schedule so I can talk to the manager about the $10.83 charge - meaning I need to be inconvenienced even more so I can get this issue resolved. I told him as a paying customer, I should not have to be inconvenienced for the sake of the manager. The employee kept arguing with me about saying the manager, who is salary, works from 10am to 6-7pm, has 3 kids at home, and once hes off the clock, he has to leave, and cannot be bothered. According to this employee, I did not make enough of an effort to get this issue resolved. I tried explaining to him several times that I cannot just take off work at any time (since I work 45 minutes away from home) so I can get this issue resolved. Anyway, long story short, I went to the You Fit on Gus Thomason, and the employee behind the counter was more than willing to help me with canceling my membership. Canceling my membership should not be this difficult and the male employee at Just Fitness should not argue with a paying customer.

Do not come here. The manager, Kerry McHugh, is one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. My sister was told on the phone that she could bring me for ONE free workout so that I could decide if I wanted a membership. When we got there, he wouldnt even let us talk. There was a man behind him, who I thought was the manager, that said it was fine and to go ahead but McHugh said I couldnt come in without my ID. Whats worse, you could hear McHugh and the man behind him LAUGHING when we walked away. After going ALL the way back home for my ID and coming back...we were treated even worse than before! McHugh informed me I actually couldnt come in because "this isnt a free gym" and "it would be like going to red lobster and getting a free meal"? I go to school in Denton and am only home for a month so I OFFERED to pay membership for the month but he said NO because I had to get "the full membership." By that time, we were insulted and genuinely shocked by how aggressively he was speaking to customers. Even more so, he demanded to know the name of the person we talked to on the phone so he could fire them and kept interrupting us to yell "Whos they? You keep saying they" every time we tried to explain that we didnt get their name. Finally, he told us we should just go to another gym and practically shoved the cancellation slip to my sister after she requested it. I am truly shocked that this man is allowed to be the manager of this gym with how blatantly rude he was and I see from other reviews that this is a reoccurring problem. I only wish that there was an official corporate office I could complain to but they dont even have that.

I liked the place when I first signed up, guess like everywhere else makes you feel good then all the truth starts showing. First what I dont like: Contract - if you have multi- members in your family dont like that they dont link account contracts and payments together Contract Date Change- well i was told that I could have the date changed anytime I wanted to what ever date would be ok with me.. YES NOT TRUE: called the number that they give you to do this and they tell me that the Fitness Club has a 5 day only change date, that means that you can only move your date with in 5 days of the original date, this was not discussed with me AT ALL. The yearly maintenance fee you can not change that date at all, again i was told you could change it. Per ABC Finance, they MUST make a note on your contract for anything more than 5 days. Its been the biggest head ache trying to get a MANAGER TO OWNER TO CALL ME BACK TO HELP ME FIX THIS ISSUE, BUT FUNNY HOW WHEN I CALL AND I HAVE 3 TIMES THAT THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN HELP ME AND NO CORP. OFFICE CAUSE THEY ARE INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND OPERATED. WATCH FOR THIS ISSUE.

Very disappointing. I am so glad that Im switching gyms. First off they make such a big hassle for cancelling your membership. In order for you to cancel you HAVE to be there M-T 8am-6pm. Which I find very unreasonable since those are the hours that people work. Not only that they charge you a cancellation fee which is ridiculous when I paid $129 when I first joined(back in 2015)! The front desk staff is very rude they seem like they dont want to be there, but I would say the guy in the front at night is the only one who goes out of his way to actually help you and make you feel welcomed. The workout equipment is not bad, but it does need some attention(like some of the dumbbells the rubber is ripped off). Also I would like to bring to attention that there is an JustFitness4u app, every time that you do certain things like check in you get points. Well today I wanted to redeem my rewards and I was told that I could no longer redeem it. It wouldve been nice if they put a sign to let people know...but I guess It must be because they got bought out by youfit.

As for the gym, you get what you pay for. I havent tried to end my contract but fear it will be as awful as the other reviews. I believe this because of the experience I am having with THRYVE, the company Just Fitness uses to contract trainers. I began with a 3 month contract and then a 6 month contract. At the end of the 6 month period I called the THRYVE representative at the gym to make sure I wouldnt be charged further since my contract had ended. He said no worries. A few weeks later, my bank account was charged again! I immediately contacted him and he said I had to send something in writing 30 days before the next auto deduction payment. I was floored! I signed a 6 month contract! If you sign a contract for 6 months why should you have to write a letter to end it after 6 months?! Its over! It is still not resolved. TRULY DISHONEST! Bad PR for the gym. Too bad, because my trainer was the best part of the gym.
