Moving sucks. You hear horror stories of stuff getting broken/lost/etc and you contemplate just renting a truck and driving your apartments contents from State A to State B. In my case, I was moving from Dallas to Richmond, VA. And yes, I went through the phases of looking through move-it-yourself truck services, container shipping services, and other full-service movers. However, every interaction I had with Coleman/Allied was professional and punctual. I submitted an inquiry for a quote online and was immediately called back (Im talking 1-2 minutes tops). I was unprepared for the speed at which they called, so I rescheduled to talk a few days later. They called me right on time and set up an appointment with the consultant (Brian Bjorklund) within the week. I had some tight deadlines, so that availability was perfect. The other van line company I was looking at didnt call me until 2 days after I submitted the quote and then they couldnt get out until the following week. Not a fan. The consulting appointment was great - Brian talked me through everything that Id need to do, how many boxes Id need, and even advised me on getting the Total Price Guarantee (which ended up saving me $600 since my stuff had to get transferred to a smaller truck for end delivery). I signed the papers that day for a pick-up appointment and cancelled my order for a container shipping company shortly afterward. Brian was even good about answering some follow up questions about packing via email! Sometime between then and the pick-up date, I got two check-in calls from the move coordinator (Rita Martin) who was making sure I got all my dates and times right. Really helped me stay organized and on top of things! I also received a heads-up call from the driver (Alex) letting me know how many spaces hed need for the truck, what time hed arrive, and that he was going to be the sole go-to guy for my stuff since it was going to be in his possession the entire time. That made me feel at ease since most damage occurs when transferring stuff from truck to truck over and over again. During loading, the driver and his helper were very nice and personable. I could tell that they were going to take good care of my stuff. Things were wrapped properly, they werent throwing boxes around, etc. Got another check-in call from Coleman to make sure everything went alright once it wrapped up. When it came to delivery, my stuff got here all in one piece, with special care given to one of my bookcases that had the soft backing (non-reimbursable if damaged in transit). I knew some of my boxes were going to get a little bent out of shape but I accounted for that in how much packing paper I added. Once the move was complete, I got a final check-in call from Coleman to make sure everything went alright again. So now Im here in Richmond, all of my stuff is in tact, I didnt have to do anything other than pack my own boxes (figured itd be cheaper), and Im completely satisfied with the service I received. I felt very in-the-know on when my stuff would be getting to its destination and I knew I could reach out anytime I needed. That open line of communication was critical in the decision for a 5 star review. Id definitely move with Coleman/Allied again!

INCOMPLETE DELIVERY When delivery day came around, the driver told us "he brought what he could." We had absolutely no idea we were not getting all of our stuff delivered. The driver told us he tried to pick out what he thought was important and could fit. This meant dining chairs but no kitchen table, no lamps, wii player, but no box of discs, tvs, but no tv stands, table tops without legs, and so on. It cost a fair bit of money to replace some of the things we had to have (trash cans, tools, drill -- for example). NEVER TOLD AHEAD OF TIME ABOUT INCOMPLETE DELIVERY Although the load had been picked up five days earlier from Coleman Allied storage, there was no mention from Coleman Allied in advance that we were not getting our full delivery. When we called Coleman Allied on delivery day, Coleman told us it was the first they heard of it. The only problem with that position is they were in charge, they were the ones who contracted the driver and they were the ones who warehoused our belongings. Surely they took note that half our stuff (see big list of stuff below) was still there in the warehouse long after the truck pulled out. WHAT WAS MISSING A partial list of what was missing: kitchen table, dining table, eight chairs, ten or twelve pieces of wall hanging art/mirrors, three or four lamps, a large crated mirror, boxes, the entire garage (trash cans, camping gear, mops brooms buckets, tool chest), lawn furniture, grill, etc, etc. NO ATTEMPTS TO RESCHEDULE LOAD UNTIL AFTER PARTIAL DELIVERY After Coleman Allied was "first" notified by us of our partial delivery, they told us they would get right on figuring out what went wrong and would coordinate the remainder of our delivery. Which means the first five days Coleman Allied should have known we were only getting a partial delivery they spent doing nothing. BLAMED THE CUSTOMER When we called Coleman Allied the day of the partial delivery, it was explained to us that this was just the sort of problem that comes up when the customer does not give them a big enough window to do the work and our stuff had a lot of over sized pieces. Honestly, I would have preferred not being blamed. If Coleman Allied couldnt coordinate the time frame and supposed over sized pieces, I sure wish they had not agreed to do the job and take our money. POOR COMMUNICATION The day after the partial delivery, no one from Coleman Allied called with any sort of notion of when our stuff would be delivered. I took to twitter, and got a couple phone calls. Finally, we got the first word that our shipment was going to be picked up the following week and then delivered with a Tuesday target. Then a Thursday target, then a Friday possibly Monday target. (equaling an 11 or 13 day delay). At this point, at least we were getting some update calls. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE What was delivered was fine. Nothing broken, no problems. The unloading crew was courteous and professional. The original loading crew was courteous and professional.

We moved from DFW to Chicago this summer due to a job relocation. Coleman/Allied was the first company we called and out of 5 bids from various other companies, they were the lowest by almost $1000! The reps we spoke with were very professionall and understanding when we had to postpone our move by a week. When it was back on they were really helpful to try and complete the job as quickly as possible. Our furniture arrived almost exactly a week from pick-up. Everything was in good condition and accounted for. All in all, they went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and we were!

Probably the best mover on the road today. The entire Allied team was very professional, courteous, and thorough.. The Allied driver had been with the company for over 25 years and had been a master driver for most of his career. He and his crew did a supurb job. The packing and loading in Texas and the unloading in Florida was excellent. I was in the military for 20 years and moved many times. No one can even come close to these guys. Thank you. I highly recommend Allied and the Coleman American Moving Services in Plano, Tx
