I called (last minute, admittedly) around 230 to see if there was any chance to get in for a cut and color. To my delight, the girl who answered said yes come on in. I got there just after 3. SONNY was my stylist. She asked me what I wanted and I explained that I wanted "the dead" cut off, that its fine if it has to be short but my goal is growing it out. And that I wanted to be blonde. Which I mostly was, roots were about 2 inches. She proceeded to take all the hair off the back of my head, basically shaved, but done with thinners, and in the front it goes to just below my chin. My "blonde" was actually yellowish orange with a pinch of white. I was there until 645 and my hair wasnt dry when I left because I had to go. So I get home and discover that the blonde didnt even touch my roots and the back was dark. I still looked like my hair hadnt been done in over a month! So today I called I very politely explained that I was unhappy with what I left with. I was told to come in and see the manager, ricco, and he would take of me. This is why Im giving 5 solid stars because Ricco and his girls deserve it. The customer service was excellent, he fixed my hair in under two hours and cleaned up the cut. He obviously cant make my hair grow back, but I am so happy to say that because the color is so fantastic, the cut will grow, and Ill rock it in the meantime

Hello, guys & dolls! Ive been in San Antonio for about 8 months now and is very hesitate to have anyone touch my hair bc my hair is always getting botched. I was refered to this place by a couple military wives and when I pulled up I was a bit nervous. Nervous because it isnt your upscale fancy salon, & nervous bc you just never know. Everyone was super friendly and I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I had an appointment with Chong the owner & she did absolutely amazing. She did exactly what I asked for and I couldnt have been more pleased. This place reminded me not to judge a book by its cover & its not the salon cutting or dying your hair its the person behind the chair. I dont think cosmetology is for everyone but its definitely for Miss Chong. Definitely will be going back to her for the remaining of my time here in San Antonio. So thankful. ❤️

Super Power

HORRIBLE stylist!! The building was nice, comfortable, professional. The workers seemed that way too. Until this blonde stylist, "Tilan?" I dont know what her name was exactly. She mentions she had just started working there, which should have worried me but I figured I could trust her. After an hour of meticulous talking about her day, she cut my neck pretty bad with her clippers and I wanted to get out ASAP! I didnt realize it broke the skin until I left a half hour ago, and it still hurts! My girlfriend paid for the haircut, but I gave the tip; last one theyre ever getting from me! She only took me there, and I let her pay, because there was some deal we heard about $6 mens haircuts. It cost $16 for a neck cut! I know it was probably just the blonde stylists fault, but I cant risk another bad experience. Sorry Guys & Dolls, you infuriated me!

I made an appointment with Ricco about 6 weeks ago. I have been wearing a long ponytail for about 20 years. I desperately needed a change .At first I basically told Ricco what I was looking for. But I sensed a real passion for his work and told him I trust you to do what you think is best for me and he got to work. Well I was stunned when he finished because I was a different person. I absolutely loved what he did, I felt so good about myself afterwards. I went to work that weekend and the compliments just kept coming, it was a real confidence boost for me. And as of today Ive had Doctors I work with copy my look and if that isnt a real compliment I dont know what is. Thank you Ricco for helping me feel good about myself again. I highly recommend Ricco and hope to have him as my stylist for years to come.

Rico was absolutely amazing, he truly has a gift for hair, I havent had a hair stylist in 10 yrs and have had bad experiences prior to this visit. He is amazing I walked in a mess and walked out as a model, he transformed my hair and the color, I was worried because I am multi racial and people normal freak out with my hair but he worked his magic and left an amazing impression on me. This is the one stylist whose is going to the top, if yall want perfection he is what you are looking for, chose Rico u wont regret it I promise u that, he is my new stylist I wont let no 1 touch my hair except him. I had the best experience I have ever had at a beauty salon.

My wife and family have been coming to Chong since 2002 when they first opened up. My wife refuses to allow any one else to touch her hair besides Chong. I am not one to write reviews but today Chong must have waved a magic wand over my mom and sister who both went on the recommendation of my wife. Chong... my mom looks amazing, it has been a long time since I have seen her that happy. Thank you for taking care of my family for all of these years. I am glad to see you still there after all of these years. You are truly the BEST!!!!!!

Ricco has been my personal hair stylist for 2 years. Not only does Ricco demonstrate his expertise as a stylist, I feel that I am visiting a true friend when I frequent Guys and Dolls. I have been completely satisfied each and every time that he styles my hair. Even though Guys and Dolls raised their prices, I believe that Ricco is well worth it. I am also relieved that social media is so prevalent in todays world; in the event that Ricco ever decides to venture to other places, I can and will certainly follow him. Thanks, Sam

Min did a fantastic job on my hair. Its my first time to the salon and I was a littler nervous of going to a new place, as Ive had some bad color experiences in the past. But Min listened to what I wanted and did my hair exactly, if not better, than I could have hoped for. Thank you Min, I shall definitely be back and would recommend you to anyone. Yesterday I received a haircut from Sonny and when I got home I realized it was really bad. Maybe one of the worst cuts if not the worst cut I have ever had. One side is completely cut into and really short. So today I called and was able to have Mari fix it and its so much better!! My hair is still pretty bad, but Mari did an amazing job with what she had to work with. She even told me ways to help my hair grow. I will definitely be back to see her for my next cut.
