Poor management and leadership. The kids end of suffering and paying the ultimate price! Our child has been attending Kids R Kids for over three years. She started at just 12 weeks and is now nearly 3.5 years. We feel that the infant rooms are wonderful and the kids are taken care of. The toddler rooms however are a nightmare. Because of their inability to properly staff the rooms, kids are constantly being sent to other rooms for state ratio purposes making it very difficult to get any structure in place. In addition, I have caught teachers surfing their phones and ignoring the children. During the process of going through multiple teachers, we would express concerns with the Director, who asked us to let her work through the issues and assured us that she was working on a solution. During the past year, some of the teachers have informed us that the owners are "cheap" and will not invest in the school. For example, the toy sanitation system has not been working for years and the two, yes, only two student learning computers are not working. Past teachers also told us that their paychecks were returned NSF. My biggest complaint is that leadership from the administration is lacking the skills to run this establishment. Communication with the teachers is lacking therefore when they do start splitting up the classes you are sent on a goose chase to try to find out where you are supposed to leave your child. Today, there was no one in my daughters class, but I saw one of the boys from her class in the next room. I poked my head through the door and asked the teacher if she was supposed to be in there, and she said "no, her class is in "hatch", so we went over to the hatch space only to be told that her class is not there. After several attempts to find the right class, the front desk person takes us back to the first class I poked my head in and asked the teacher where my daughters class was...the teacher said "with me". What???!!!! Then she says that my daughters class is split and she doesnt know where the other half of the class is. When she is told to take my daughter she very reluctantly agreed. Sure...this is exactly the environment I want to leave my child in. One where she is not wanted, and where the room is over the state allowance (while they try to keep the ratios accurate, due to staffing, they are unable to). Very frustrated I left, with my child. They did offer to keep her up front (what???!!!). My husband had to take off work to take care of her so that I could get my work completed. When I asked to withdraw her because of the last 8 months of problems that we have tried to be patient through, I was told I needed to keep her there for a two week notice. In addition, I was told that they are aware of how unhappy the teachers are and that I should wait so they can work out their issues. They even told me they brought someone in from a different location to help. So yes, they are aware of the problems, but no....we have to suffer through them. Or, like we are, having to pay $450 (2 weeks of tuition) to get out of the situation. Who wants to put their child in an disfunctional environment? I would strongly reconsider sending or keeping your child here. The lack of leadership and owner support is very evident and its the children, parents and teachers that end up paying the price. In addition, they run contest for prizes if you post positive reviews.

My family relocated to Texas at the end of September. I was very apprehensive about placing my 20 month son into a school setting daycare after he had been in a private daycare setting since my return to work at 3 months of age. I spent hours researching online reviews, state reviews, and making several visits to multiple centers. What I loved most about KRKs Bitters, was immediately upon entering the facility you are greeted by smiling faces of not just the staff/teachers but the children as well. The facility is clean, bright, and very open with the half glass walls separating each classroom which allows a better sense of community between all the classes. My son had only ever been exposed to family members and his sitter prior to being enrolled at KRKs and I was nervous about how well he would handle having not just one new teacher, but three new teachers. Within a week of enrollment he was already coming home saying “I love Ms. Laura; I miss Ms. Laura”. Nothing makes a parent feel better than knowing their child is feeling secure in their new daycare. He has learned so much in the short time he has been at KRKs and enjoys going there every day to see his teachers and play with his friends. On a few occasions, my son has gotten sick or has bumped his head in the classroom and I have always received a call immediately from the front desk describing the full incident and what the staff has done to rectify the situation. Things happen at times and I appreciate the promptness to alert me of any concerns the staff has regarding my son so that I can decide in real time what the best course of action is for him. I am so glad that my husband and I enrolled our son at KRKs. We love all the staff and teachers and how caring they are, but most importantly, we love that our son loves them and enjoys going to school there.

We left this school because my daughter had a dirty urine diaper left around her leg one afternoon when I picked her up. I did not immediately see it upon picking her up due to the outfit she had on. In the same week, the AC was out in her classroom for 2 weeks. When asked if we would be compensated for that I was told no. As a consumer, I do not see why we would not be compensated for something I am paying for if we are not getting it! I was also not informed by management that the AC was out, I had to confront them. I think being a little bit more proactive with your parents would have been the better route. I mean obviously one can tell if they AC is out in Texas, but it almost felt like they didnt think anything was wrong with sweaty little 2 year olds running around all day? It doesnt stop with the diaper or broken AC. My daughters name might not be the easiest name to pronounce but every time I picked my daughter up the afternoon teacher would mispronounce her name. I corrected her on three different occasions and she still proceeded to say my daughters name wrong. This irks me because anyone that values child development knows that calling a child by their CORRECT name is very important! When I asked to speak with regional about all of this, I was told they would give me a call. BUT.. I never got a call. I strongly do not feel like their staff appreciates children and education. My daughter did not thrive in this environment and I am happy we pulled her. I do not want to bash Kids R Kids but when we are dealing with people taking care of our children, I have to be honest about my experience because I know real parents are reading these reviews wondering where is the safest place for their child.
