There is no one in this world who cares more about the children that she teaches, under her direction and instruction than Miss Beth. Dance Arts is the best kept secret in the local arts. Beth provides students with a variety of classes to meet their needs and their talents. Beth provides instruction for adults to further their love of dance or to provide a method of conditioning called Pilates that is a proven method of strength and even recovery from injury. Dance Arts has a standard that is set with both parents and students. It is classical in its approach. The students learn correct methods, correct structure, and frankly, when a child performs at her recitals there is joy expressed on a childs face because she has learned how to LOVE how to dance. Miss Beth gives her love to her students and in return students show their love through the joy of their dance. Dance Arts is a wonderful place made possible by the professionalism, the kindness, and the standards set by Beth Shively. This community needs to know of Beth because she is a treasure to our children who learn from her.

Our daughters attended Dance Arts for several years and although Beth, the owner, is knowledgeable about ballet and technique, on several occasions we found her to be insensitive and inappropriate toward our daughters. She would frequently ask them about payments for dance classes, even before payments were late, making them completely uncomfortable, even threatening to not allow them to come to dance for a payment that was 5 days late. She also embarrassed them in front of the class by telling them they would not be able to dance and would have to observe for the day because they had brought the wrong size of dance shoes, yet she offered another student shoes to borrow when she forgot hers. When we asked that she refrain from discussing the billing and payments with our daughters, she told us the girls were no longer welcome at her studio. We were stunned by her insensitivity, inflexibility, and unprofessional conduct and regret exposing our daughters to this bully of a personality who mistakes rudeness and intimidation for order and discipline.

Ive been taking Pilates from Elizabeth (Miss Beth) for over 5 years. Since I have fibromyalgia, nothing helps me more than these classes. Elizabeth has such good training and knows anatomy better than any instructor Ive even had. Even when I had a hip replacement, I went back to these classes rather than going through physical therapy. Shes that good. Not only is she one of the nicest human beings I know, she is truly a master at her art. I cant imagine my life without Pilates and recommend her highly to anyone suffering with fibromyalgia, or any chronic illness. Even in her group classes, she works with each individual in order for them to exercise safely and get the most out of every movement they make.
