I have been going to Devin for my hair ever since I moved to Salt Lake City from Los Angeles seven months ago. He is one of the most talented, charismatic, personable, and knowledgeable stylists at Malstrom Salon (or anywhere for that matter). I’ve had short hair and longer hair, conservative and more trendy/edgy styles – all cut and styled by Devin and never once was I disappointed. He has an eye for style and understands what looks good/works and what doesn’t. He works quickly, but rather meticulously and methodically. His cuts come with a stress-relieving treatment including aromatic oils and a mini-massage. He also offers complimentary clean-ups in between cuts which is a plus when you’re sporting a shorter style. He is a master at color. When my hair was shorter, he free-handedly painted the color onto my hair using a “baliage” technique and the result looked incredible. That said, no matter what color technique he has used, the color has always been spot on and his work is clean and thorough. I often witness other stylists seeking his advice, so that’s got to mean something about the respect other stylists have for his knowledge and abilities. Aside from the great caliber of work Devin does, he has a positive personality and enigmatic energy. I’ve noticed that his clientele span from working professionals to the-girl-next-door; and no matter who he is helping, he treats everyone the same – initiating great conversation, offering styling tips, recommending the best products, remembering things you mentioned the visit prior – and of course, using his skills to give you a look you’ll be pleased to walk out with.

I am a recent client to Malstrom Salon but not a recent client to my phenomenal stylist, Frankie Nemanic. She has recenly moved to Malstrom after years at a local salon here in Salt Lake City. I couldnt be more excited for her move to Malstrom. It is the right environment for her and as a customer I couldnt feel more at home. I dont feel like Im being probed to buy product from the front desk or forced in scheduling my appointment way in advcance like the old salon. I feel like Im in the comfort of my own home and being catered to like a true client and not just another dollar bill. Malstrom Salon is lucky to have this amazing new additiona to their salon, with Frankies skills and years of education with Aveda, the combination is simply perfection. I feel comfortable walking into every appointment Ive booked with Frankie and telling her we can experiment with not only my color but my cut and I will walk out with a beautiful creation. I also have to tell you that for years I suffered from split end problems and Frankie has taken my hair from dead back to full of life all because she knows her products well and what works best with my hair. Never once did she force me into cutting too much off to get rid of the split ends or stop coloring it because she knew what I wanted and where I felt comfortable. Im so excited to go back to Malstrom and feel pampered by Frankie Nemanic.

Let me start this off by saying, I started seeing Brianne when I was much younger and when my last hair stylist bleached my hair three times in six hours and it was completely destroyed. I was very hesitant to let someone else work on my hair but my mom assured me I could trust Bree. Not only did she completely revive my hair and do some major damage control, I havent seen another stylist since. She is absolutely phenomenal. She is the only person I know I can trust to go into her salon and let her do whatever she wants to my hair, I walk out loving it. Not only that, but her skills are so amazing that I can show her a picture I like and she will make sure we are seeing the same aspects of the hair style so she can recreate it on my hair. I would absolutely recommend to visit this salon and request her! This salon is very high quality as are all Aveda salons with a very kind, professional and knowledgeable staff.

I recently went in to Malstrom as a new client. I came to Devin because another stylist had messed my hair up several days prior. I showed Devin a photo of a cool red that I wished my hair to be and he nailed it!! Not only did he give me a fantastic cut and color, but he also gave me several tips that have been extremely helpful. Devin also happens to be a make-up artist and put a fantastic red lipstick on me prior to leaving the salon and I have never felt so good! I felt like a million bucks! It hasnt even been a week since I went in to the salon, and already have more compliments on my hair than I ever remember receiving! I love it and so does everyone else! Its safe to say that I will only be seeing Devin for my hair needs from here on out! Thank you!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Devin for a haircut and he is SO talented! He is the only person I have ever had cut my hair just the way I saw it in my head. My hair before, which was lifeless, long and heavy, now has so much movement and dimension - he even colored my hair for my first time ever! It turned out so beautiful and subtle, he understood that I needed something fantastic yet low maintenance. He is truly an artist. I felt like a new woman when I walked out those doors! I would recommend this salon to anybody and everybody. In addition to the talented staff, it has such a great vibe and everybody is so friendly - you will immediately feel at ease. A+++!

I love this salon and I am obsessed with my stylist, Devin. He is the best stylist/colorist Ive ever been to. (And Ive been to a lot.) Ive been gradually going blonde and he makes it look so natural, and my hair still feels really healthy. Multiple times when Ive been there, other stylists ask Devin for advice and input on coloring their own clients hair and he is always so helpful. Hes also really great about describing everything hes doing. When hes styling my hair, he makes sure to tell me exactly what hes doing and how to do it myself. Hes super friendly and funny and it always brightens my day to see him. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

I love this salon! I came in because someone at another salon had messed by hair up giving me drastic layers as opposed to a smoother finish. I came in early one morning to take a look and set up and appointment, and the owner stopped what he was doing and immediately set me up with an appointment with Alisa, who is amazing. She managed to take the poorly done layers and completely smooth them out while helping me keep the length since I have been growing it out. I have been back several times since and have been consistently very happy with my hair cuts. The staff is very friendly and easy to talk to and makes each experience very pleasant.

Jessica always does amazing work. She is professional and up to date on the latest. She does everything for me......an amazing cut, color, and style every time and on top of that she does my brows, manicure and pedicure. Always to perfection! Today she recreated a picture I brought in of a bobbed style between chin and ear. Love it! As always. She knows what shes doing. She has great confidence and poise, and I am always confident in her because she is a true artist. She loves what she does and it shows in her work and in her. Thank you Jessica, you are a treasure!
