First off, I used to work at planet fitness so I know ALL of their selling tactics and little nitches. So I will start off in saying these "Google Users" saying this is an amazing place and deserves 5 stars...dont listen to them. I am also in sales so these are obvious signs of staff members posting on here. Secondly, I workout different then the basic business model they try to attract. The "lunks", but by no means am I one of those type of people that works out like this. So I totally understand they must follow their business model and protect those who may feel uncomfortable by these type of people who work out. BUT when you turn the "Lunk alarm" on for simply dropping a weight...cmon let be realistic. Going off from the above statement...They are so bad with making you feel uncomfortable, as in the staff. They have staff stand in the free weight area and will radio into the desk if someone simply drops a weight to turn on the alarm, and I dont mean dropping them really loud, I mean I saw a much older woman drop a weight...like 20 pounds and they sounded it off. Them standing there and stalking you and making you feel super uncomfortable is "Judgement"... I cant even do my workout to full potential with people staring at me and waiting for me to mess up by droppng a weight too loud. The only thing I liked about this place is the location and the cleanliness. Staff is medicore in friendliess. The biggest thing is the staffs judgement of its gym members. Highly suggest people with medium to higher experience in lifting to not come here...just because it is $10 doesnt mean anything. I rather spend $30 or more to not have someone watch my every move...really uncomfortable

Just wanted to provide my opinion about my experience with Planet Fitness since it seems to be different than some of the reviews. Ive been a member there for about 3 years. It has most all the equipment I need for both cardio and strength training. Is it the best gym Ive ever been to? No, but I pay 10 bucks a month and have gotten that amount of value out of it each month. Im not sure how much more I could expect from a gym at that price. Note: I switched over to a yearly membership 2 years ago, so I dont have any opinion about the payment/cancellation issues that people have had with them. Pros: - Price/Value: As mentioned, it is decent enough of a gym for 10 buck a month. - Friendly Enough - I havent had any issues like others have mentioned. I go about 2-3 times a week and have never had any issues with the staff. They sign me in and stay out of my way for my workout. Cons: - Space - Some of the area available for stretching/abs can be cramped at busy times. Same goes with treadmills. This is why it lost a star for me. However, 85% of the time, this really isnt an issue even right after work at like 5:30 or 6. - Limited Free Weights - As people have mentioned, you have to get creative sometimes to target certain muscle groups because their free weights are pretty basic. They have most everything you need from machines but for a gym this size, they dont have a large enough variety of free weights. Overall, decent gym, if you are looking for something to do the job for cheap but arent expecting much more than that. It is a no-frill gym with a membership fee per month reflects that.

gym itself is for BEGINNERS. its reasonably clean but the air quality was terrible and felt dusty. now about customer service, THIS IS WHERE YOU GET COPS CALLED ON YOU FOR NO REASON. I canceled my membership and was almost out of the front door when the African American woman yelled after me saying there was an issue. I went back and she told me that I hadnt paid my $10 for 2 months that i used the gym for (I only used the gym 3 times literally). with late fees and everything she told me it was gona be over $40. I asked to call the manager so i could speak to him/her and resolve the issue since she wasnt any help explain anything. she has initially introduced herself as the manager and then she went on to call the real manager who wasnt in the office per her. I asked her when he was gona be in the office today or any day after that, all i got was a dead silence and no response except "sir, you have to pay the charges and theres nothing i can do for you". all this went on for at least an hr. she told me that i had to leave because i wasnt a customer anymore lol wow!!!. i was tired (from workout that day), frustrated, and she had the audacity to call the cops on me. I explained to the cops, they got me some managers business card off of her and i was on my way. for $10 gym you get what you pay for! i advise you to stay very clear of worthless gym with crew from the hood.

Let me just say, I have ALWAYS hated going to the gym. Every gym Ive been to has been crowded, smelly, and felt like a meat market. This Planet Fitness in Alexandria has TOTALLY changed my attitude about the gym. The facility is large and clean, with plenty of equipment so you never feel crowded or rushed. Its divided into 3 sections - the cardio section which features the standard treadmills, bikes, ellipticals and arc trainers. Each cardio machine has a headphone jack so you can listen to one of the several TVs on the wall, or you can listen to the radio. Then there is the weights section which has a decent variety of weight machines as well as free weights. There is more than one of many of the machines, so there is generally no wait to use the weight machine youre interested in. And finally, my favorite section is the circuit training section. This area allows you to get a full-body strength workout as well as a little cardio in about 30 minutes. Great for someone who is short on time or not sure how to put together their own strength training routine. The staff at this location is friendly and helpful. They also provide tanning beds and massage chairs for those who want them. The base rate is $10/month with no contract. A pretty great deal for such a beautiful facility.

Let me break it down to you guys looking for a gym. This gym was simply amazing for what I needed. What I needed was a gym that would be convinient at any time of the day or night and had a staff that was helpful whenever I needed motivation or just plain customer care. I have been enrolled in this gym for roughly about 2 months and I have never encountered any inconvienice or anything negative. What really stood out to me was the cleanliness of the facilities and also the kindness and positive vibes that were given by the staff. The price of $20 per month is actually quite a steal considering it is a 24 hour fitness center. This planet fitness is actually right beside my house and the location is actually right beside an Aldie, CVS, and a 7 eleven so you can do some grocery shopping right after your workout :p. The convience of location actually makes it so much more worth than other locations. Anyway let me just end it with this, if youre looking for a simple way to get fit and not be judged, planet fitness is the way to go. On a side note though I was actually really hoping to hear the lunk horn which sounds when someone is being obnoxious. I know its kinda of messed up but i cant wait for the day the thing sounds when Im there haha.
