Outstanding program and people! Potomac Crossfit is much more than a gym. It is a comprehensive fitness program with well-structured coached group workouts. Every day offers a different workout to benefit your whole body, with each one scaled to your ability so that you dont have to compete with, or be intimidated by the Sumo-wrestler athlete next to you lifting Volkswagens. The coaches are really great and attentive to helping you set and achieve fitness goals. Unlike the mega-gyms, there are no machines or mirrored walls in this gym. Everything that you accomplish will be done mostly using just your body, building your strength and improving conditioning with short-duration high-intensity exercises and free weights. The workouts are scheduled every hour and last exactly an hour. This makes it easy for busy worker bees to fit a high-quality workout into your schedules. After a few months, you will see real results and understand why this program is so great. Give it a try. There are free introductory classes each week. Also, you will have fun and you will be surprised at the friends that you make; people exactly like you, with similar strengths and weaknesses and all trying hard to get a little more fit with each workout.

At the end of my collegiate swimming career, my coach started us on a quasi-crossfit style workout. I soon became faster, stronger, and was ripped like a wildebeest. Then I graduated. Fast forward four and a half years and I had completed 2 half-ironmans and a slew of other triathlons and was physically fit. However, I could barely lift the tv in my apartment. Wanting to get strong again and stay fit, I joined PCF per recommendation of a co-worker. Since I joined six months ago, I am stronger than ever, extremely fit, and approaching wildebeest mode. The coaches at PCF have been extremely helpful in working with me to achieve my fitness results and the PCF community is fantastic. Crossfit in general is an amazing approach to working out and is used and will be used by athletes in all sports (from swimming to football and track). I see Crossfit and its philosophy on emphasizing olympic movements with a quick explosive workout as optimal in athlete strength training. Finally, if you live in Arlington and want to get strong, just follow the wildebeests to Potomac or Patriot Crossfit. - Jeff C

5 stars are not enough, PCF is more like 6 stars. As a past member of PCF and a current member at a CrossFit gym in OH, I have 2 comments, the first is about CrossFit in general, its the best fitness program I have ever participated in and its here to stay. Not only will it stay, but it will grow to an unbelievable past time that will turn this country around from one of the stereotypical fatest countries in the world to the fittest country in the world. Secondly every owner, coach, and member of PCF are some of the greatest people I have ever met. As I said, I am a past member and a current member at another gym, so I have something to compare. My new gym is great, but PCF is by far the greatest Crossfit gym in the DC area and tops in the country. The training, community, fundraising and support is superior. I would love to see the landlord of the facility work with PCF to keep it in the same building and to also start training Crossfit and he or she will understand why Crossfit is here to stay and so should Potomac CrossFit. ....terry c.

Feeling strong and like an athlete for the first time in years. I walked by PCF for years wondering..."What the heck is going on in there?" Then, I met up with a friend of seven years for dinner. She looked awesome. She was toned, and looked healthy. I was in shock. She told me she started CrossFit at PCF, and I knew I had to check it. Little did I know that Id find my new way to workout. The coaches and the community really help you become a better athlete. The encouragement is never ending, and people really care about your fitness. My only regret is that I didnt join PCF sooner, and I wasted years and $$$ at a globogym. For the first time since college, I feel like an athlete. I feel strong and I feel better about my health. Nothing pushes you like CrossFit, and Im glad I started at (and Im staying with) PCF. Since Ive start three months ago, Ive been recommending PCF to everyone. Its a great place to learn about CrossFit (and get addicted to it). The motto is "Forging Elite Fitness" and thats exactly what they do.

Joined Potomac / Patriot Crossfit in May 2011 in the worst shape of my life. I needed a radical change - a completely different approach to fitness (i.e. one that works) - and Potomac / Patriot Crossfit provided it. Im now approx. 40 lbs lighter than when I started Crossfit. More importantly, Im much stronger, much faster, and my cholesterol levels are now optimal (thank you, Paleo) after being a mess in my pre-Crossfit days. One of the unique things I really like about PCF is that the coaches will work with you to design "scalable" workout routines to help you work around injuries and improve your overall fitness level regardless of your physical limitations. I highly recommend PCF for all those "former" athletes out there that would like to get back into shape but may be hesitant to make the leap because of old injuries, pre-existing conditions, etc. Give PCF a shot - you will love being an athlete again.

Oh how much do I love thee? Let me count the ways.... PCF has literally changed my life as an athlete and as a person. Im more eqipped to handle lifes challenges, I can carry more groceries than I have hands, and theres a place I can always go where I am challenged, supported, and appreciated anytime I walk in the door. I started PCF about a year ago and I cant say enough about how great the coaches are - they are funny/sarcastic, supportive, and friendly. I live in Georgetown and have explored other crossfit gyms in the area and nothing beats PCF - Yes, I drive across the river, I sometimes sit in hours of traffic, and Im happy to do it. I keep telling Brian (the owner) that he needs to be nominated for an All Star award - I just havent been able to find an award that is so deserving to a person that has improved the quality of my life by ten fold :)

I can’t say enough about Potomac and Patriot Crossfit. I joined about 9 months ago at what was by far the worst shape of my life. I couldn’t walk around the neighborhood without getting winded and sore. Based on where I was starting, I expected results – but I am shocked how quickly those results happened. I met goals in 8 months that based on past efforts I expected to take me 18 months or 2 years. Most importantly, I feel vastly better than I have in years and I completely attribute that to the amazing coaching, programming and community at PCF. The focus on individual progress and skill work over any specific performance promotes success at all levels. Wherever the new Potomac location is, I will be there.

Ive been doing Crossfit for about 2 years now. Before Crossfit I did everything you could imagine to get fit -- pilates, circus aerials, spinning, machines, running, various sports, p90x, power plate, yoga, and that list just goes on and on. They all worked to a certain degree -- but Crossfit has beyond worked. Crossfit was life changing. Ive been completely hooked since starting and havent looked back. Ive been to ~30 gyms across the nation as my job requires me to travel and Potomac Crossfit is one of THE BEST. The trainers are top notch, the facility is top notch, and the community -- family -- is top notch. Im saddened that Potomac is closing down -- and will patiently wait for the new gym to open!!
