We had the polybutelene pipes there was a class action lawsuit over several years ago. We were told when we bought the house that wed eventually have to get them replaced, but we were young and dumb and didnt know what we were getting into. 12 years later, weve had about a dozen leaks, more than half in the last two months, so we had to just bite the bullet and do it. I joined Angies List to get some decent plumber estimates, and we got some wacky ones. One for about $10k, no drywall, one for $3k and two for about $6k. We went with The Plumbing Doctor, their estimate was $6200. We went with them because Manning, who came to do the estimate, wasnt afraid to tell us that there were things we ~didnt~ need to do, like replace the hot water heater. Theyve been great - they worked all day yesterday, finished up now. The technicians(Larry and David) have all been extraordinarily professional and gracious. There were two yesterday, the same two today, and they brought another (Marlon) today to help finish the job. They handle the permits and the inspection, when I called the office this morning, Jeanne (who does all the contracts and permits) said wed probably have the inspection done tomorrow. They put us on the schedule for four days, quoted three and were done in two. Theres nothing I love more than under promising and over delivering! Theyre bonded and insured and appropriately licensed. They have an overall "A" rating on Angies List. Larry was outstanding; he took the time (twice) to go over things with me, made sure I understood, and kept me apprised of the status of the job the whole way through. I absolutely recommend The Plumbing Doctor, and if I ever need a plumber again, Ill call them directly.

The Plumbing Dr is great! They respond quickly and each time Ive used them theyve resolved the problem. Most recently Dr. Charlie and Dr. Marlon replaced a toilet that wasnt working well (planned) and then stayed to recaulk a tub which I requested last minute. Generally speaking, after diagnosing the problem they offer a range of options and are able to clearly explain the benefits of each one, but never put any pressure on me to select the most expensive. They work very cleanly so no residual mess to clean up. Its likely possible to find cheaper service, but youd have trouble finding better. Edited 6/28/17 to add: Plumbing Dr comes through again. The gas company shut off our gas late last night due to an indoor gas leak. I called Plumbing Dr. first thing in the morning after someone else said they couldnt do the repair for three weeks. Dr. Larry was here within hours and found a total of 6 leaks. Dr. Chris joined him and the two worked without break until 11:30 PM to get all the leaks fully repaired and to address two safety hazards the home inspector had failed to note. It looks like well get hot showers and cooked food tomorrow thanks to their hard work. Dr. Larry even stayed an extra 20 minutes despite how late it was to do extra paperwork specifically documenting the code issues to support my dispute with the incompetent inspector. As I mentioned earlier, I imagine you could shop around for someone cheaper, but if you want done promptly and you want it done right (and by the nicest people ever), you wont go wrong with the Plumbing Dr.

Dr. Larry and Dr. Victor were prompt (an hour earlier than expected), very polite, and very clean. They called while in transit to let me know when to expect them and got right to work when they arrived. I was almost certain what the problem was (clogged main sewer line with a backup) and they confirmed it--to the extent possible under the circumstances--within a few minutes. Dr. Larrys first suggestion to fix the problem was an $1,100 option that included multiple camera scopes, some kind of earth-penetrating anomaly detector, a root evaluation, and a couple of different pipe cleaning options. This was clearly overkill for a pretty simple problem, but he didnt give me a hard sell and got right to work when I asked him for the simple clog removal. They made sure every possible surface they would touch was covered in protective cloth and fixed the problem within about 20 minutes. For an hours work and about $350 (with coupon) they solved a problem that I didnt have the tools or knowledge to fix myself, so altogether it was a pretty positive experience. I appreciated the fact that they had a price list with them so I could see beforehand exactly what I would get and what it would cost. They did an outstanding job in terms of workmanship, cleanliness, and professionalism. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was pretty clear that I had a relatively simple problem to fix and it would have been better if theyd suggested the cheaper solution first, with the option to escalate to higher-priced options only if necessary.

JUST before the first flakes of the January 2016 blizzard started to fall, I remembered to go outside and drain the outside hose....I had long since shut off the inside valve. Long story short, I applied to too much pressure to the outside faucet and broke it off of the pipe! Shouldnt be a BIG problem, but the water kept coming! I raced in, located the inside shutoff..which was closed, but I could still hear water rushing thru. I opened the valve, then closed it again hoping that would shut the water off...all it did was make the inside valve start leaking...a lot. After shutting down the main water valve, my wife and I started calling plumbers, lots of them (oh, btw, its now snowing very hard and I can overhead the reporters on TV telling everyone to hunker down right now for the weekend). Just about the time we were becoming despondent, Dr. Charlie of the Plumbing Dr called to say he was ON HIS WAY! Dr. Charlie was here in less than 30 minutes...in the ever increasing bad weather. Within 10-15 minutes, he had ascertained all the issues and recommended multiple options to get things fixed. Once we agreed to a solution, he quickly and expertly made the necessary repairs to get the water back on and running in the house. Having replaced the inside valve, we decided he could come back later to finish the outside work (at this point there was several inches of snow on the ground). Literally, Thank God for Dr. Charlie and The Plumbing Dr. Believe we have finally found a reliable, professional plumber for life!

The Plumbing Dr. came to our rescue AGAIN. After battling with our home warranty company for 5 days about the replacement of our water heater - we decided to make a phone call to The Plumbing Dr. From the moment that I explained our problem Tracy went above and beyond to ensure that her company would be able to get us hot water the very next day (and I called in the afternoon)!! She was able to immediately get us on their schedule and Dr. Larry was at our house the next morning before 8 AM. I have not ever transacted business with a company as wonderful as The Plumbing Dr. They make you feel like top priority because they treat you like top priority. I felt that the technicians who were sent to our house cared about our problem and humbly took pride in the work that they did and in the fact that they were able to help. Dr. Larry was prompt, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. He took the time explain the details about the unit that they were installing and he answered every question that I had. I could not have hoped for better service from start to finish. I only wish that there were more service based companies out there with such great customer service, workmanship and integrity as The Plumbing Dr.! The Plumbing Dr. will be our FIRST call in the future for any plumbing problem, and we will recommend them to ANYONE who is ever in need of plumbing services. We are SO grateful for what they did for us. They are the best of the best, and they do fantastic professional work!!
