January 25th through January 31st was by far 1 of the most stressful experiences ever for me and my family as it pertains to being a homeowner. There were a series of issues that ensued until finally there was a sewage back up requiring water restoration. The best decision I made when this happened was to call Roto Rooter. I requested a plumber to arrive between 8am and 12pm the following day after first noticing the back up around Midnight the night before and sure enough the plumber showed up at 7:57am. The plumbers name was Min - he was kind and diligent in working to relieve the blockage that caused the back up; Thank you Min! The reason that Im actually writing this review is to highlight not only a kind and diligent member of the Roto-Rooter team, but I want to point out someone that displayed an EXTRAORDINARY level of professionalism, astuteness and empathy from start to present. His name is Joe and his Employee Tech number is 1381. It helps that hes from my hometown just north of where I live now, but the reason why Im writing this review/survey on Friday night after 1 of the longest weeks of my life as a homeowner is because throughout the entire diagnostic process immediately after the sewer back up to the repair and the initial water restoration process, he responded to my calls/texts EVERYTIME and in a timely manner. I NEVER felt alone or like I was uninformed as to what the next step in the process would be. If it were not for him, I feel like I would have exploded given the circumstances that led to the plumbing issue and the circumstances that came about in the form of damage to my home. I literally was seconds away from losing my composure on multiple occasions and Joes calm temperament, patience with listening to my concerns/worries along the way and his detailed explanations are how Ive come to the point of looking forward to getting on with repairing my home. Needless to say, I decided to use Roto-Rooter for the Plumbing diagnosis, repair and soon-to-be full restoration. I also want to say thank you to Craig (Tech 4429) and Rosebud (Tech 2018) as these guys treated my home like it was their home from demo to cleaning. I cant thank everyone involved enough to include Al and his partner that ultimately excavated my yard and did the repair, but I did want to be sure to let everyone on the team above and anyone I left out in error that my family and I really appreciate you for taking was was literally a crappy experience and turning it into an appreciation that we called on Roto-Rooter to help us get through this issue and come out better on the other side.

Had a new hot water heater installed by Roto-Rooter 12.28.2013. Noticed water leak from bottom of tank on 11.15.2015. Turned off water and gas to the tank. Called Rotor-Rooter assuming tank covered by 6 year warranty, they sent out a tech on 11.16.2015. Tech states leak actually from the pipe above the tank and we only had a 1 year warranty with the tank. He replaced the pipe $61.78. Then turned water on, released pressure from valve on side of tank, and now that valve is leaking, again not covered. He stated the original tank should have had a Water expulsion tank also installed and that was the reason for the problems I was now having, along with my water pressure into my house being too high. Dont understand how all of a sudden the pressure coming into my house is now too high after no issues in 6 years. But, ok, he adjusted the pressure. I stopped everything, as I have other coverage for the tank under a separate home warranty with a different business I had obtained after the initial replacement of my hot water tank. Final bill: $502! He "discounted some" as labor was $490--he was here for 3 hours!!! Other service tech confirmed Rotor-Rotor tech broke the valve stem when he pulled to release the pressure. Should not have been our problem to fix at our cost! Other service provider not too sure the tank is NOT leaking at bottom as was my original complaint, we have to wait and see... Still dont understand how an initial service with replacement of tank that should have had a water expulsion tank installed as per regulation according to the Rotor-Rotor tech, which is according to him, the "cause" of my current problems are not the responsibility of Rotor-Rotor, but ok, so I call to try to figure this out. Upon calling was handed off to a manager, Andrew, who listened, said "One moment" and was passed to a third person! Ok, repeat the issue, he argues, the water expulsion tank not regulation requirement, but he will check and call me back. He called back to say he doesnt know when that regulation went into effect and will have to call me tomorrow. WHAT!?! You dont know regulations?? AND, NO they do not warrantee ANY service!! I would never recommend Rotor-Rooter, nor have them back into my home. How do you say you will install a product, have on back of your invoice warranty is equal to the manufacturers warranty, not abide by that and have a tech break things that create other issues that keep raising the cost. Total Water tank cost $2000 Without ANY warranty! Great--hope you have a nice Christmas Rotor-Rotor. I bet you wouldnt put your family through this!

Update: I am updating my initial review from 1 start to 5. After my first visit in early December 2016 I was immediately contacted by the Production Manager Brian who reviewed my experience and was really interested in seeing how RR could have done better, what didnt go right, and how the situation could be rectified. He offered to come back to do a video inspection of our sewer line as well as a second opinion of any possible water/bacteria damage free of charge. I contacted Brian again last week because we had slight issues with the main line, same as in January. Brian offered to snake the main line again as well as the video inspection free of charge. The service was done and the technicians could not have been better. Both Min the tech who snaked the line and David the video inspection tech were very knowledgeable, courteous, professional, and explained everything they were doing. I now have a better view of our home main line issue, how things work, and what needs to be done in the future. Thank you for the excellent Customer Service. I normally never write reviews. Plumbing issues are always tough. My regular plumber was unable to handle a snake to sewer line issue. RRs pricing structure does not have an initial price, nor do they offer estimates over the phone. They arrive very quickly for an estimate. Cost is extremely high, and of course when dealing with plumbing issues, you are up against the wall, so you accept. Our issue was fixed for $750 for an hours worth of work. The technician could/would not answer any questions as to why we didnt get offered the camera view to rule out further issues with cracks, dips, and/or tree roots in the line. Also, BEWARE of any other technicians coming out for water damage estimates. The person who came out did not have on any type of uniform, no name tag, offered no business card, nor written estimate. Minimum was $1,500. They of course will tell you its a worst case scenario and that they will give you a couple of days to think about it. Gut instinct is that it was a total scam. The two "technicians" were in on something together. The problem may be fixed for now, but no great answer was given that its resolved and that it wont happen again soon. I also ran my questions by my regular plumber who answered how things worked easily. He agreed the camera view should have been done. I would not recommend Roto Rooter.
