The worst experience we have ever had with a contractor. Poorly performed work and pathetic follow-up. A simple job sold by Sam Hardesty himself turned into nothing but problems. I signed a contract in May. Work began in early June. The faulty installation of soffit vents led to them pitching other products which were so poorly installed they appear to have been hung by a child, or as they said it afterward "a butcher." Was this an upsell scam? I have collected 50 nails from the yard and driveway. I replaced a new tire, my old dog was injured by a nail, and I drove one under my finger nail working a flower bed. There is still substantial debris on-site. The roof still has substantial sags in it. We have had a large hole in our guest room ceiling since June where nasty, musty insulation has fallen onto our heirloom quilts and 1760s antique bed! They never repaired a gaping hole in the ceiling! Lie after lie. The last time I had the foreman over, David, it was to have him admit they arent going to follow-up and make the proper changes to a job they started 3 months ago. He has set no less than six dates over the summer to make good on their promises. A day later we moved some large furniture and discovered water damage had destroyed the exterior walls of our dining room. I am hiring a third party to diagnose the source(s) of the leak(s). This is a rancher! Seriously. A sigle story A-frame roof! The complaints are mounting, folks. This is bush league garbage. Richmond Magazine should be ashamed of lauding praise on these hacks. I will be posting updates.

Horrendous experience, at best. The installation crew started two hours late and treated my home with complete and utter disrespect. They showed up the day before completely unannounced and no one spoke a lick of English. I kindly asked them to leave, and they refused. At the end of the first day, about ten of their family members showed up and proceeded to visit with the crew members in my yard. The crew left trash everywhere and nails in the driveway. Three months later, the shingles were coming up and curling. I never got an answer as to why the shingles were curling, but a repair crew was sent out twice to remedy the problem after I complained. The response from the owner was, "what do you want us to do about it?" The third repairman confirmed that nails were never driven fully through the shingle into the roof AND at the nails were crooked in at least three dozen places. SLOPPY WORK, at best. I would NEVER recommend or hire this company again to put a roof on so much as a dog house.

Great roof, great value too. Hardesty came highly recommended from contractor friends of min. They also came in below all others in price but also gave me a fantastic 25 year roof. People who complain about nails should understand that you will have to go through your lawn with a magnet and get the remaining nails out yourself. Took me about 15 mins. The crew did clean up as best they could, but as a homeowner with kids, I knew I wanted to make sure I got every last one. This is a dirty job and things will fly all over the place. Sam Hardesty is a man of integrity and that means a lot to me. This is a good company who will give you a great roof for a reasonable price. I have no family or financial connection with Hardesty whatsoever - just a satisfied customer.

I asked for an estimate to replace some flashing on my cedar shake roof. The guy showed up at my house and proceeded to walk all over my cedar shakes when I specifically emailed in not to because of the damage that is caused by doing so. When I asked him kindly to get off my roof due to causing damage to it, he proceeded to tell me I was wrong, packed up quickly and didnt look me in the eye as I was trying to talk to him and explain what Id like done. I have not gotten an estimate yet and its been 3 weeks but judging by my brief experience with this company Im glad I havent!

One of their vehicles was carrying slate from a house they took it off of. It fell off the truck and onto my paint damaging it. They refused to pay for the damage.

This is not a reputable company! They tore off a random persons roof on accident, admitted it was an accident but wont fix it. Unacceptable! Do not use this company!
