Im a couple months late posting this, but I still definitely remember my last visit here. I had gotten a Groupon deal for a haircut and color by Aaron Bowser. I wanted to get my hair recolored to my normal red color, since my roots had grown out about two inches and were pretty visible. I remember remarking at the time that he had gotten the color on very quickly; I didnt realize until I was halfway home why--he didnt put the coloring on the roots to sit first. EVERY other colorist Ive ever been to puts the coloring on the roots and lets it sit for a few minutes, because the roots are much harder to dye than the hair thats already been colored. He simply put color on my hair all at once and let it sit. Well, predictably, the roots were a different color and were VERY noticeable once he started drying my hair; however, he didnt say anything until I mentioned it. He tried to downplay it at first, and then grudgingly agreed to apply a second color. He blamed it on the fact that I had used Ion hair color the last time I colored my hair, and called it a "color correction" instead of admitting his mistake. Anyway, the color finally came out evenly after the second coat, and then he went to cutting my hair. He cut MUCH more off of it than we had talked about, and it was clear he was rushing (especially since he had to take a lot longer to dye my hair). The rest of the hair cut came out okay, I should mention. The reason why he rushed through my coloring and cut was so that he could do his mothers hair, and he told me she didnt even have an appointment or pay. So he rushed and made a mistake on a paying customers hair to do the hair of someone who didnt even bother to make an appointment. I honestly wouldnt be so mad about this if that was all; people make mistakes, and some arent mature enough to own up to them. Whatever. However, then he charged me an extra $75 for a "color correction!" I wish I had realized at the salon that he hadnt let the color sit on my roots and thats why it was on so quickly; theres no way I would have paid for that. As it was, I was so stunned that I just paid it. A stylist at a salon like that should know better than to make a mistake like that, though. THE ONLY reason Im giving this place two stars instead of one is because Ive been here once before to get my hair cut by Mikaela. She did a really fantastic job cutting my hair; she even got my bangs and layers perfect. Definitely one of the best haircuts Ive ever had, and she was very nice as well. I would definitely recommend Mikaela, but STAY AWAY FROM AARON!

I love this place, the owners, the staff (especially Sabrina). I like the city loft feel of the place, the great music, the dog trotting about but very well-behaved. Its a vibrant, energetic place. I had grown tried of Changes/City Spa where I increasingly felt that my stylist just works as quickly as possible and doesnt really listen to what I want, and really doesnt seem willing to sit down with me and considered different cuts. I feel like Im being rushed in and out at City Spa. Ugh. At GPatton, I was treated to an awesome cut by an experienced stylist who is one of the only stylists in this area who has 1. had an actual consultation with me, sitting down on a sofa and chatting; 2. listened; and 3. been willing to give me a snappy, stylish cut without having to have explicit instructions, a picture, in order to do my hair. I mean, Im not the expert, she is, and shes the one who should be up on all the latest styles, giving me advice and suggestions - if thats what Im looking for. Ive been looking for someone to whom I could say, "Take me, Im yours. Heres my lifestyle, heres what Id like from the style, use your professional judgement and just give me a cut that works with my face, my age, my job, my lifestyle." Sabrina was willing to do this, confident enough in her skills not to fall back on some easy, crowd-pleasing style. She truly did give me something different, easy to style, which can be punky and funky or classy, depending on my desires. This is the first time in my life where Ive had a cut that I can really just tousle and go - and it looks good. Many stylists have told me that I can do that with previous cuts. This lasts for about a day. With this cut, Ive been washing, tousling, and just going for three weeks now and its clear that Im going to be able to do this for another 3-6 weeks. Even when I flat iron it, as Sabrina taught me, it takes, at most, 10 minutes to style. I highly recommend this salon if you want someone to give you a cut that is trendy and professional. Be sure to ask for Sabrina and tell her Santa sent you. :)

EDIT: after flat ironing my hair the day after my cut I noticed that my under layers and ends of my length needed evened up. I called to see if I could squeeze in between appointments, Id do the prep work and flat iron my hair, the male receptionist said Id have to make an appointment. I told him I was going out town for a few days and it should only take 10 min. He said it would take less than that and still said I had to make an appointment and not stop in to try to get in in between. I asked to to talk to Jeff and have him call or text me but I havent heard anything. Looks like Ill have to try leave a few hours early from work or wait until next weekend (two weeks at this point) to get it fixed. Ive added pics. I cannot say enough positive things about G Patton and Jeff Harris! Im not from VB/Norfolk so finding a stylist was a complete nightmare! So much hair and money down the drain and then my fiancé found G Patton for me (Im totally grateful for him! Lol). Ive been going here for a while now and will not go anywhere else. This pic is from yesterday and Jeff gave me tips to use at home to keep my curls from falling flat (VB humidity!) without pushing me to purchase any salon products. That is huge for me, Ive had cuts done at different places where its subpar service and when I ask for advice at home, the stylist will immediately direct me to product shelves and nothing else. Which I understand that products do matter, but additional info on prep and method is more helpful to me. Jeff is always more than happy to share his processes with me! I havent had a chance to flat iron it yet but when I do Ill add additional pics to show the cut itself. Everyone in the salon are very friendly and helpful, text messages are sent as confirmation for the appointment. One time when I had to get a cut last minute (I know, I know) Jeff was booked so Sabrina was able to schedule me and she was good too! You will always be able to find a stylist to fit your needs at G Patton. I tell all the women I know to come here! You guys totally rock!
