Ill try to make this a descriptive as possible without too many characters. My girlfriend and I are ODU students. She took her car here to get it inspected. I went with her to pick it up when they called. The car failed inspection due to the rear 3rd brake light being out. The guy at the desk went on to describe the problem as unusual and very expensive to replace. 200 dollars plus labor. I, having constantly heard about rip offs inspection stations preform on unsuspecting young women, wanted to inspect the problem myself. Turns out a connection had been "unplugged". This took all of 2 seconds for me to evaluate and reconnect. Went back into the store and asked for them to take a minute to display I had fixed the "200 dollar plus labor" problem and the guy told me it would be 45 minutes before he could see me. Running a tight schedule we declined and left. However, something dawned on me that this was fishy. I told my girlfriend to pull over and I popped the trunk to take a second look. The connecter that was unplugged is a very strong connection. These connectors require you to push a very well engineered pin to release the male and female connectors. If something caught on the wire to dislodge the connection, it wouldve pulled the wires out of the connector and wouldve been a mess to fix. The additional 45 minuets they told me I would have to wait was because, in my very irate opinion, due to them never preforming the inspection in the first place. They brought the car in, suspected a female to be incompetent and unplugged the connection in the attempt to hit my girlfriend with a 200 some dollar repair that they wouldve just plugged back in. My point in all of this is, BEWARE. With the economic crisis we all face on a day to day basis, one cannot afford such costly "canned" repairs. My guess is they are hurting too. The attempt to preform theft on a customer should equate in harsh and strict punishment- especially when they are authorized to inspect vehicles by the State Police but we all know how ineffective reprimanding from such angle is. So I hope this essay like review will show others who are prospective customers to take their business elsewhere.

These are by far the biggest thieves there is and they just take advantage of any student who needs to just get a simple inspection. I took my car there over two years ago and they told me my car couldnt pass inspection because my master cyclinder was so called cracked. I ended up paying them 700 dollars to only have my master cyclinder get messed up after the fact and come to find out they didnt tighted the line in because of that my brakes went out. Took it back to them and they said the place i took the car to have it checked out are a joke, (keep in mind the other place specializes in brakes). My brother ended up paying them 600 dollars for brakes and rotors and doesnt seem like they fixed anything because they seemed like they are worse then it was before. My brother also informed me 2 days ago that two of his friends took their car to them to get a simple inspection and ended up paying 1500 and 900 dollars. Crazy right, i will never take my car to them again and would not recommend them to anyone even if you have a f it bucket. they are crooks big time so STAY AWAY. If you take your car to them to get it inspected and they tell you that you need this this and that go get a second opinion before you get the work done.

I read the reviews before going to University Car Care for a State Inspection since I needed it done as soon as possible. My car is three years old and its never given me a problem and Ive always kept up with the maintenance. UCC did not give me any problems as they were happy to take my car in for a state inspection but warned me it would take a while since there was 3 cars ahead of mine. It took them almost 4 hours which was ok since they warned me in advance but my car did not pass state inspection due to my floor panel. They informed me my car was in great condition but it was rejected and it would cost me $203 for labor. I was tempted to just get it done but after talking to my father we arranged for him to see the " problem." UCC said it would take two hours to fix my floor panel and my dad did it in 10 minutes. We went else where for the state inspection, it passed and were told that the reason I was rejected was a joke. The people at UCC were nice and helpful when it came to my questions. Just be careful and get second opinions because they were charging so much for something so minor. & be careful with tow trucks! They are the reason my floor panel had a dent.

Thought I was going to have a problem with my state inspection when I took it to University Car Care. They inspected my vehicle and found a few things wrong with the car and suggested some other items that I might want to consider. When I questioned the state inspection items. They promptly took me out to my car and showed me what they were seeing. Then backed it up with the state inspection manual. I asked for some time to make a decision and they agreed to let me take as much time as i needed. A few hours later, after having done research on the repairs, I found that they were a fair price. I could have had it done cheaper at some other places that offered no warranty. And more expensive at the chain stores like Firestone and Kramer. So I let them do the repairs. They gave me a 12 month warranty on the work and I am very satisfied with the work, the price and the knowledge of the staff. Its rare to find a car repair place that will go to such effort to make me feel comfortable about the repairs on my vehicle.

I failed inspection for several items this year which hadnt been a problem in the past and hadnt changed from past years (like a minor crack in a side mirror). Additionally, they wanted me redo several items which I just had done, polish the headlight for $40 as a required repair (which they just happen to be pushing in the store too) and came up with a long list of optional repairs which were all listed as borderline ("you wont pass next year" and this problem will be "dangerous if you dont repair it soon"). I fixed many of the problems at a different place for a fraction of the price only to find out that they were only minor issues. I dont know if University Car Care is just extremely strict with the state regulations, had an off-day or were trying to scam me but I certainly won go back there for state inspection.

I went here to get my oil changed, I dropped my car off and they called me later and told me that my license plate light and brake light were broken. They said they would fix each one for me for 11 bucks a pop. I pick up my car and I realize a few days later they completely forgot to change my lights, even though I was charged for it. I take it back, they say their sorry and then fix it right away. Except then they tell me its a socket thats broken in my brake light. They keep my socket and my light bulb and hand me back my car with no working brake light. Its not even that its broken, there are pieces missing! Over a week has gone by and I cant them to fix my freaking light. Very poor, unintelligible service. Fixing a light bulb shouldnt take more than 2 minutes, let alone a week.
