I originally came to this box to take the free one hour intro class in early October 2013. I accidentally went to another crossfit gym and so was late to my appointment with Coach Jason Struck, but was glad that accident occurred. I saw that the gym I accidentally went to was really packed with large classes and everyone pretty much looked like they knew what they were doing. Which is good, if I knew what I was doing. However, I preferred that the classes were much smaller at Full Circle since I had never really weightlifted in my life (minus leg presses and dumbbells). I get a good amount of one on one attention at FC, mostly due to the small classes, usually between 4-8 people per trainer. The coaches are also very knowledgeable and willing to give you advice when approached. Each of them do have their own personality, but I think that makes for a good experience as I know one coach might be a little more patient with me than another, yet the advice would be practically the same since its based off of education and experience, and they are all very experienced and friendly. I have participated in both the regular crossfit level 1 WODs as well as the barbell (olympic lifting) classes. I started with the crossfit WODs the end of October 2013, then switched over to Barbell mid April 2014. I saw a larger percentage in gains with Barbell over the WODs and that was what I was interested in at the time. For example, I went from 100 lbs 5RM backsquat to 140 lbs 5RM backsquat within just a few months (and I had missed a few weeks in between due to travel). Typically though, if you attend all 3 sessions (MWF) of barbell, you would increase your 5RM on a few lifts each week. I have been doing the WODs lately due to medical reasons but will be back in Barbell again this week and the coach even suggested I work on volume instead of getting new maxes each week since I shouldnt be doing any PRs for a while. Basically having your own personal trainer somewhat, thats a huge plus. Crossfit membership is expensive, but I think ones body and health is worth the expense. And to have the personal touch at FC makes it more worth my time. The weekly beer exchanges (dogs allowed) also are a cool plus!

In August 2011, I was in a bicycle accident that left me with a tear in both my ACL and meniscus. I had two reconstructive surgeries followed by months of physical therapy. After a while, I felt well enough to start running again and was able to complete my fourth and fifth half marathons. My knee was nowhere near the capacity it was before my injuries, but I thought that was as good as it was going to get. I could run, but there was no way I could get to the bottom of a squat. I have always loved being active and lifting weights but I thought that part of my life was over. Then in November 2013 I found a Groupon for Crossfit Full Circle. I went through the three weeks of fundamentals and I was hooked. The excellent coaching staff has helped me regain full use of my knee and I am now stronger than I was before my bicycle accident. Theyve helped me run the fastest mile Ive ever ran in my life and I am lifting heavier than I was as a Division 1 college athlete. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and genuinely care about the wellness of everyone in their program. Crossfit can be intimidating but Full Circle immediately made me feel welcome. The fundamentals classes focused on proper weight lifting technique and the basics of Crossfit made me feel safe and informed. I cannot thank the Full Circle crew enough for everything theyve done for me. All I can do is try to pay it forward and say that if youre looking the perfect Crossfit box, a life change, a mix-up to your workout, or maybe youre trying to get your groove back, then Crossfit Full Circle is the place for you.

Crossfit Full Circle really seems to work for me. Ive been going for just over a year and cant believe the progress Ive made. First youve got a set of friendly people struggling through the same workout youre doing. Theres been several times the urging of the other folks in the class kept me going or got me moving again. Even if youre in a class with all quiet people like me, you still have the coaches who are always watching and encouraging you Speaking of the coaches, they are the best thing about the gym. Theyre always watching to make sure we do the movements correctly. Theyre great at breaking down the more complex movements. Theyre always encouraging (and fortunately not like a drill sergeant), always friendly, and always ready to share their knowledge. Until I found Crossfit Full Circle, I never liked going to the gym. The gym was always a horrible experience with a lot of effort for little results. From the first day at Crossfit Full Circle, I enjoyed going. Instead of dreading going to the gym, I look forward to it now. Even when there are wall balls involved its been awesome. On top of that my results have been better than I ever expected. Every lift has improved significantly as well as my running time. Definitely a 5-star place.

Heres what Crossfit Full Circle has done for me. Grace. 4:46 to 1:36 Fran. 8:36 to 3:48 Isabel. 5:42 to 1:49 Helen. 12:15 to 7:41 Nate. 8 to 19+ rounds Jackie. 9:29 to 6:23 Bench. 265 to 335 C&J. 245 to 310 Snatch. 195 to 250 Deadlift. 405 to 510 OHS. 205 to 290 PC. 235 to 310 Squat. 315 to 420 Very first day was 10/13/2012 with my groupon. I did general training until I started the strength and power program on 5/13/2013. I stuck strictly to this program until December 2013 (7 months). Jason convinced me to do my first CrossFit competition. The competition series lasted from Dec-Feb. Drew and I ended up winning (key example of proving Jasons strength first programming). TNC Line for life. I went back to strictly strength and power in March 2014 until August (5 months). Now Im on our competitive training. To sum it up, it took me a year of the strength and power program to jump an average of 80 lbs in all my core lifts. Ive reached benchmark WOD times I thought were impossible. These guys know what theyre doing. Be patient and listen to their advice.

NO DROP-INS ALLOWED!! Got my hotel to drop me off and the trainer said to take a hike, literally. Said CrossFit RVA was 2mi away. Told me they think that drop-ins are too disruptive. Wouldnt even allow me to pay and do my own WOD. Guy wasnt rude about it, but its the first Ive ever experience this. Im no Rich Froning or anything, but my work allows me to drop-in all over the southeast and Ive been doing crossfit for four years. Every gym Ive ever visited was enthusiastic about my efforts to join them. AND PAY. RVA couldnt have been anymore cordial and offered a tour and a cheap drop-in rate ($7). WOD was fantastic, trainers were knowledgable. Class was packed too, but no hesitation to welcome me. If youre a Richmond local, maybe Full Circle will be the right gym for you. No one even there for the WOD I attempted to join, so youll get one-on-one training. Equipment and layout looked average. But RVA has a great setup and community from what I could tell. Great range of newbies to very experienced crossfitters. Thanks RVA!!
