I had an oil change and inspection done here, had to replace one fog light bulb and that was $30 but that was all they wanted for me to pass inspection so I didnt complain. They only take cash and when they do inspections they take them off site since they cant do them there, but they will check everything and the besides the lighbulb(maybe it was an expensive bulb) the prices where fair. I also had an oil change done for around $25 bucks or so. Checking it for inspectiong, doing the fog light, oil change and actually taking it to get inspected took around 2.5 hours. Its a 5 minute walk to Carry town if you have to waive, if you look at a map and you search for Express Auto Service, youll also see the Byrd theatre, thats the direction you want to walk. There is not much besides a few bars and one cool book store open for 5 miles the other direction.

I have taken my cars to Express Auto for years now and the service has always been wonderful... it is such a great feeling to find someone in the auto repair business you can trust when you dont know much about them. The turnaround has always been fast and as promised. I think the labor cost is excellently priced, parts prices seem comparable. It is a small locally owned repair shop in Carytown so I am happy to support it and the beutiful community. For my inspection, I just recently had to have my windshield replaced and they had no problem doing their part and allowing the glass shop of my choice to come in and do the replacment. It saved me so much time & money doing it that way. All in all... EXCELLENT!

didnt get a chance to get work done here because I was treated somewhat rudely on the phone. Read a prior review about them taking cash only and called to verify that as well as their hours, as I was needing to have a car towed there and didnt know what was wrong with it or what I would have to pay upfront. When I asked the question, I was asked "why are you asking me this question" and upon explaining the situation, told to "take [the car] somewhere else"...maybe they thought I wasnt good for the cash or something, but in an emergency/unexpected breakdown situation, pretty sure thats a valid question!

My starter failed last week so I called this place because it was the closest. The man I talked to was exceptionally nice and even drove to churchhill to pick up the keys (the car itself was closer). He called exactly when he said he would and I got my car back sooner than promised. When I told him Id ridden my bike there to pick the car up, he said I shouldve called and he would have picked me up. The service was cheap and fast and I couldnt be happier with it.

I called A&J (based on all the positive reviews) to set up a service for my car while I was at work in Carytown, it was overheating and I needed a shop close to my job. Very polite on the phone, but when I showed up to my appointment the next morning noone was there. I called several times, and after about twenty minutes of waiting, gave up and drove my car to a different shop. Pretty bad first (and only) experience.
