As soon as I walked in...you could hardly breathe because there was so much smoke from hair. The windows were even fogged up. I watched a few ladies do some clients hair..I was immediately concerned. There was a young African American girl who got her hair done...and it looked like the girl could have done that at at home by herself. It looked really bad, I didnt catch the name of that stylist, but she has the first chair when you walk into the shop. I wanted to leave because I felt they were using way to much heat on EVERYONEs hair. My sister assured me the stylist we would have does not use as much heat. Well, she at least didnt use 5 different steps. One common thing I kept seeing is that people would get washed, conditioned (if you paid extra for it), roller set, sit under the dryer, then a blow dry, then a flat iron. That process is entirely unnecessary and excessive heat. I am glad to say my stylist of the day (last chair in the row) did the usual- wash, condition (I paid extra), blow dry and flat iron. Though, I felt the heat was entirely to high. The end result was very nice. Straight, shiny and clean. After two weeks I washed it...and it would not curl at all!!! So two things 1. Heat damage 2.Chemical. I dont know if they add relaxer or relaxer like chemicals to their products for people with natural Afro hair, but they definitely use WAY TO MUCH HEAT!! So I strongly recommend that if you have natural afro hair and want to keep it healthy, that you steer clear of this shop all together. I was from out of state so I didnt have anything else to go on...but after being there and seeing the long term effects of this shop on my hair, I cannot advise people with Afro natural hair go here. The people are really nice, but they dont know how to handle this hair type. I say my stylist and the lady next to her (last 2 chairs) were the best in the shop that I seen. If you have a relaxer, they do great. Natural hair, DO NOT GO HERE!!!- This is the Hopewell location.

Kathy is the best! Its a first come first serve shop and the ladies definitely sign up to get in her chair so be prepared to wait. But its worth it because Kathy does her thing! Heat can be an issue, especially with having natural hair but they are open to me bringing in Argan Oil heat protector. Been a loyal customer for a year and will continue.

This place is the best price youll find around and the work they do is amazing! I have been coming here since I was little and plan on always coming back. They are fast and super friendly and when I walk in I dont feel out of place at all. When I walk out I feel fresh and beautiful and I think every women should feel that way.

This place is awesome! Walked in and was greeted immediately, the staff are much friendlier then other shops on the the Richmond area. My hair felt so good after I was done and the price is very reasonable for my natural hair.

Went in today to have my little girls first blow out today. The ladies were so friendly and I was in and out within 35 minutes ... Amazing quality work. Cant help but to rate it a 5. I deffinatley will be coming back !

Reasonably priced, & styles actually last. Unlike similar shops in the area, they are organized, courteous, and clean. I wont go anywhere else now.
