*** Literally 5 minutes after writing this review, Bombshell called me and completely rectified this situation. Like I said In the review I have had many amazing experiences st Bombshell and would highly recommend them! This day may have been just a bad day for all and we all deserve a bad day. But the way they were so quick to respond and fix this is second to none!! Thank you Bombshell! I have never done a review before but I am implored to write one today, just so anyone wanting a Curly Girl cut from Bombshell will know what they are in for. Today I got the Curly Girl haircut from Bombshell. While my hair looks good the customer experience was awful. Also, the stylist did not follow many of the known techniques that I am pretty sure are important in the curly girl cut process. (I have had many, many times a year for the past 3 years) I didnt go to my regular stylist because I was impatient and couldnt wait, I highly regret it now. The first part I want to discuss is experience. I have been to Bombshell in Midlothian for an eyebrow wax and everyone was friendly and amazing!! However at this location everyone seemed angry. My stylist especially, she didnt say one word to me after asking how I wanted my hair, not one word. I understand people can have bad days or maybe some people dont want to be spoken to while doing hair or getting their hair done but no words at all, unfathomable. During the Curly Girl process she proceeded to do a few things that as a Curly Girl for a few years now and getting many Curly cuts are just NOT supposed to be done. For one, the salon doesnt carry the DevaCurl products. I know that there are many Curly hair products out there but just for anyone expecting DevaCurl to be used, its not. Next, and the worst of it all she DRY BRUSHED MY HAIR (I have not brushed my hair, let alone dry brushed my hair for years, I finger detangle in the shower) I was mortified!! Now anyone who is informed about Curly hair AT ALL, you know you never dry brush Curly hair. She said she was doing it because it would be too hard to detangle in the bowl. Umm, Ive had many deva cuts and they had no problem detangling my hair in the bowl and Im paying you all significantly more money than I have payed for a far superior outcome. The least you can do is not ruin my curls by dry brushing them. Next she rushed through the shampoo process by pretty much shampooing the top of my head and underneath, she never touched the middle. Then she proceeded to dry my hair with regular towels. Again, anyone who knows anything about Curly hair you are supposed to dry with microfiber towels or a tshirt to prevent frizz! Lastly she put me under the dryer which was fine but I felt like she rushed me out before my hair was any where near dry. Partly my fault because I no longer wanted to be there anyway. In all it was just a bad customer experience and the "Curly Girl" stylist should do a little more research before doing another Curly cut. Now I did pay and tip her because it looks alright now but with the steps she took while doing it I know it will frizz in no time. I hope not though because like I said I payed significantly more than I would normally and it I always a far superior experience and haircut!

This is a true story, which Id have shared privately with the salons manager if one existed in nature rather than only on website. (I tried! I did!) It doesnt seem like a supervisory staff member is available so Im reduced to this public forum which is not my first choice Bombshell is filled with some of the sweetest coolest young folks in RVA. Its a great place for tanning. But for extensive color correction STAY AWAY. Its impossible to tell who has had the most experience because the promotion system is based on criteria such as " # of redos" (insider tip) Even the front desk is a mess. Ive had my appointment time blocked out incorrectly 3 times. The last time this occurred, my time for color was 1 not 2 hrs. So my hair was not processed long enough (including toning). Instead of having one of the seemingly endless array of assistants reapply where needed, the stylist just said "well if you understood the time constraints..." I was stunned. I looked at my hair and noted shades from my little girls Rainbow My Little Pony. I was crushed. At this point, I said "ok no prob" I took it like a woman and put on my hood. At this point, and I KID YOU NOT, I was shuttled out the back door! (stylist said he didnt want me crying in his chair!) He apologized for this when I later brought up how disrespectful it is to hide a client like this. 2) After re-do (which he eventually made CLEAR was not even his NORMAL hours so dont act like he didnt do nothin for me ) I was advised that the 2 inches of dark root , otherwise platinum/brass/blorange mess was what Id need to get thru to transition to my natural color. What?! help!!! 3) Chastised for being an intense client whose face doesnt look happy after color services-- an experience that is quite jarring for HIM because hes never had an unhappy client- EVER. Hmmm. Im beginning to see where the lack of problem solving skills comes in. 4) When i say as kindly as able that Ive had color consultations elsewhere and have moved on to get the desired outcome, he has the mature response " Well thats actually a relief because seriously dealing with you is just super stressful" Nice. Tomorrow, Ill tell my most complex patients that theyre stressing me out so Id appreciate if someone else would help them!

My first visit to Bombshell was at the West End location back in December 2013. The next time I called to book (I live out of state but visit Richmond on occasion), they had opened their new location in Southside! I wanted to book some mommy-daughter pampering, and they managed to schedule a mani-pedi for both of us, a haircut for my daughter, and a leg wax for me, with very little "waiting time" in between appointments for either of us! When we arrived, we were offered refreshments. For the little downtime we had in between appointments, they offered to pick us up something from Chipotle (or any other nearby restaurant). We politely declined (we ate lunch before we arrived), but have you ever been to any other place that offered to pick up some food for you while you waited?!? Amazing customer service! Also, my daughter isnt much of a girly girl (shes rather Goth), but even she admitted that she found the entire atmosphere very comfortable! The hair associate did a wonderful job fixing my daughters bad layers haircut, and the nail technician was incredibly understanding and sensitive to my daughters comfort and needs. Excellent and relaxing mani-pedi for both of us! As always, the waxing job was superb and painless (I thought it would be painful, as I was grossly overdue for my waxing). We both walked out of there feeling like sassy femmes!

I have been an inconsistent customer to bombshell for about 10 years. Ive gotten some good haircuts highlights and lowlights and also receive some waxing treatments as well. Im very disappointed with my most recent experience. I had an appointment for an eyebrow waxing that I was going to be about 5 minutes late too, so I called and informed them that this was the case. When I arrived, 7 minutes late for my scheduled appointment, they could not take me. They asked me to wait because the next person coming may or may not show up is what I was told. So I waited for 10 minutes all the while the eyebrow waxer was not doing anything and just waiting for her next appointment. It doesnt take more than 10 minutes to do eyebrows Ive had my eyebrows done many times to know that. The fact that they were unable to take me 7 minutes after my appointment time was a little ridiculous in my eyes. Especially since I called and let them know. Rather than have me wait for 10 minutes, they could have taken me in the back and wax my eyebrows. I understand they want to maintain scheduled appointments, but it wasnt like I was getting a bikini leg or armpit wax, just my eyebrows. It was also my birthday not that that should be an issue but it would have been nice to receive a little leeway.
