I interviewed several companies and decided to go with James River. They were not the least exspensive. I have dealt with many businesses in the Richmond area over my forty years of being self employed. I rarely feel compelled to write a review and I have never given anything 5 Stars. James River Painters have been one of the most professional businesses that I have ever had the pleasure conducting business with. Everyone that I came in contact with was very polite and most importanly listened. I know what is involved to manage and create a culture that has the customers best interest as the number one goal. I will highly recommend this company to my friends, and would like to thank James River for their professionalism and a job very well done Ben Gibson

Kevin Scotland was wonderful to work with, and his crew were all great guys. We had the exterior of our house washed and painted and some of the siding replaced. Kevin came by after the house was washed and prepped and was not happy with the wash job, so he had someone else come and re-wash it over the weekend - without me saying a word about it! I requested some additional work after the initial contract was signed and he accommodated it without any problem. Overall, Kevin was extremely responsive to all my concerns, the workmen were friendly and considerate, and the work was completed in a very timely fashion. We were very pleased and would definitely hire James River again.

I have not experienced James River Painters personally but I will tell you this my wife and I are looking for a painting company to paint our entire house. After looking at all of the locations that they have done from the popeyes and the u haul locations. I promise you that we will be using this company. I have already met the owner of the company and I have seen the bar that he has set for his employees. That is something that I look for in a company and has won me over.

Be wary of this contractor. They used to go by the name Scotland Painting. Hired them to do a small exterior carpentry and painting job. The workmanship was HORRIBLE! Especially the "light" carpentry. The paint job was substandard as well--the paint seemed watered down, stains showed through. They wanted to charge more when I wanted some correction. The one positive thing was their politeness and they dont require a deposit---They politely took my money when they were "done".

They did a fantastic job with the painting and renovations. I put the house on the market sold less than 5 days. I posted the pictures on my Facebook page I received over 100 likes and 37 comments. I wish I could post the pictures. They did awesome work!

I have used James River Painters to paint the entire exterior of my house and then used them again for some drywall and interior painting. From the quote to the actual work, everything was perfect! Everyone I spoke/worked with was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable! I will never use anyone else. Highly recommend!!!
