We rented the large cabin during a week in August 2011. We chose this campground because of the close vicinity to Shenandoah National Park. It is only a few miles away. It is close to nearby stores, which include fast food, Food Lion, Dunkin Donuts, etc. This information would have been very helpful for us in planning our trip. We chose to rent during the week and were happy because there wasnt to many campers. There were a lot of tent sites right next to the cabin, but nobody booked them during the time we were there. The cabin we rented had 2 bunk beds, kitchen table, microwave, mini fridge, coffee pot, and table in one room and in the second room there was a queen bed. There is also a porch on the cabin with a few chairs and mini table. If you are looking for privacy within the cabin this in not it for you. The wall between the two rooms are nice, but you can hear everything from each room. We took our own wood with us, so I cannot attest to the wood from the store. There is a fire ring, grill, and picnic table at this site. There was a toilet facility right across from the cabin. The bathrooms (showers and toilets) were right down a lane. The game room had a pool table, air hockey, and some video arcade games. We only looked at the game room and didnt play any of them. The owners were very nice and courteous to me and my family. We did get phone signal here with all our phones. If you get bored easily I would suggest bringing some board games. There is electricity so I guess you could bring a TV and game. My husband got very bored but hes not to much of a sit back and relax type of guy. All and all we really enjoyed our time here.

LOCATION – Nice rural location, easy to get to from the Swift Run gap junction of the Skyline Drive. Some amenities in the nearby town of Stanardsville. CABIN – Cabin was a converted caboose (railway carriage for the uninitiated!) It was a little more basic that I assumed from the description, but was clean and comfortable. Just about large enough for 2 people. Fully equipped kitchen (hotplate but no oven). No TV. Small air conditioning unit. Very small bathroom with a shower and a toilet but no sink, basic toiletries and no hairdryer. Door did not lock, but was OK for us as we were only there for one evening. Linens are not included in the price but are available for a small fee. Nice raised outdoor area with table and chairs, grill and fire pit. Great to sit outside in the peace and quiet with the stars and wildlife. SERVICE – Very friendly and helpful staff/owner. Very easy to book directly on-line with immediate confirmation. Able to pay with credit card. VALUE FOR MONEY – I would say that it was a little overpriced when compared with what you can get for the money in a chain hotel in a larger city, but for the area the price was not too bad. OVERALL EXPERIENCE – Comfort, peace and quite, nice to get away from it all (including the TV for the evening). Good to stay somewhere a bit unusual with a bit of character. OK for a couple of nights, but would start to feel a bit cramped for a longer stay.

Wonderful experience. Rented a site on the weekend in late October, so we didnt have to deal with much in the way of crowds. We reserved our site online, and had no issues at all checking in, finding a nice site, and setting up. The owners were both incredibly friendly, helpful, and seemed accessible at any time (as other reviewers have said, they live on-site). Example of their friendliness: we asked if they sold hot chocolate in their little shop, and the owner said no, but he might have some in the house if we wanted it. We declined, but it was a nice gesture. All the amenities are available if you need them: showers, restrooms, etc. There was a well-water pump close to our site. They even have an arcade. We wanted to unplug and be as rustic as possible, but the options are there. If youre looking for a wilderness experience, this wont be it, but if you want to build a fire and sleep in the woods, you cant go wrong here. Great place.

We camped there twice in the past year. The owners are great, and very helpful. We had a non-family groups each time, and the campground was perfect for it. The group campsite is very large with lots of room to spread out. We had nearly 20 people, and could have easily doubled our number. The second time we had a larger tent site and it was perfect for our group of 10. We had several smaller tents and had room to spare within the site. The site had plenty of shade and wasnt right up against our neighbors. The campground is well maintained and the owners and staff are around to see if you need anything or just to say hi. The tent sites have fire pits and a picnic table and room to relax. The ground is clear and you arent setting up your tent on rocks/pebbles like you find at many parks. They do have play areas for kids and a pool is open during the warmer months. We were very happy and will definitely consider going back.

We stayed at Heavenly Acres over Memorial Weekend after our plans to camp in Shenandoah were foiled by the holiday weekend rush. Honestly, it may have worked out for the better! We loved Heavenly Acres! Plus, it was only a twenty minute drive from the Skyline drive Swift Run Gap entrance. The campsite we had, 16, was perfect for our needs--it was just me and boyfriend. It had plenty of shade, a picnic bench, and a nice sized fire pit. The campground itself had a flushing toilet nearby, and a bathhouse with hot (maybe too scalding hot, to be honest) water for showers about a ten minute walk, if that. If you have kids, there was also a playground centrally located, as well as one near the pool. Additionally, they had an ice cream social both Saturday and Sunday night, which was really cool! Owners very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone, and am looking forward to returning!

This is a great campground. I have been here four times. The grounds are well maintained, the owners are constantly out and about ensuring the trash is removed and the bathrooms are clean. There are family activities on the weekends. I have stayed in two cabins which are well maintained and affordable. There is plenty of tent camping and trailer camping. This is close to Skyline Drive (about 30 minutes) and about 15 minutes from Shenandoah National Park. Old Rag Mountain is about 40 minutes away and a great trip. So based on location, friendliness of the owners and the maintenance of the campsite I would recommend this place to anyone.

Terrible service. Was swimming there for 4 years then one morning the oowner gary was a complete jerk to me, my husband and the 4 kids i had with us.we will never go back there again! I would rather drive to elkton pool then swim there. The slides are cracked and were supposed to be fixed in the beggings of the swim season because they are starting to cut peoples legs but he still hasnt set new slides up! No body is ever at the front desk when you need them. my niece has sat up there for 30 minutes after she called and said he would be there in 5 mintes. Worst experience ive ever had.. And im obly giving a five star so everybody can see!!
