The best way for me to start off is this was the WORST experience! Very little accountability, horrible communication, terrible customer service...I would strongly consider using another company! Now to the story - A few weeks ago, I reached out to a couple of companies for a move.A colleague of mine stated that he knew someone at My Guys Moving and ultimately i decided to use them. An appointment was set, confirmed and deposit taken nearly three weeks before my move date at 8am. A week later I get a voicemail from a female, who was mumbling and the only word I could make out was "My Guys". I called my point of contact at the company and asked if he had someone reach out to me...he said no. I called the number back and left a voicemail, no return. Then a week before the move I get two voicemails from a guy who was asked to speak to "Brian" (thats not even close to my name). I reached out to my point of contact again, and he stated that he wasnt sure why anyone would be calling and stated it was possibly a mix up. I then, 2 days before the move, I get a call from the guy Brendan who continued to call me the wrong name Brian who said he needed my credit card. I wasnt going to give it to him, so i called my point of contact again and gave him my credit card again - he once again confirmed it went through and confirmed that my crew for the move would be there between 8 -9am. Now the day of the move, it is 930am and no one has arrived or called. Understanding that traffic can be pretty bad in this area, I called to check status of how far away they were. I was then told that someone should of called me, because the crew was stuck in another state and had been since the day before when I was confirmed. I was told another crew would be there between 11 and 1pm...and was guaranteed they would be there. I had to be at the new place by 2pm. 130pm rolls around and once again no call and no one had arrived. I call back and no one seems to know what is going on...i ask for a manager and get to Dee. I explain the situation to him and my displeasure about what is going and proceeded to ask what can they do...he begun to throw the rest of his team/company under the bus saying it was their fault no one called me and the best he can do is get me another guy for the move (I dont care whos fault it is at the company...its the companys fault). I then ask for a discount on the rate, considering the crew will be over half a day late from my guaranteed time AND we will be stuck in traffic for nearly two hours due to it. Dee basically reiterates how its other peoples fault in the company and he cant give a discount because "THEY HAVE A BUSINESS TO RUN". Your business is to organize and move peoples stuff and like most businesses keep customers happy. He then continued to state how its was the end of the month and they have bigger jobs to be focused on and I can try to find another company for the move. Though i was furious and offended by this managers lack of professionalism and response, I did understand that I was at their mercy and said ok to having the crew come at 3pm...well 330 rolls around and once again no call and no one shows. I call back to speak to the manager who stated that they would be there, he now says that he is not sure when they would be there, and it would be closer to 5!!! I then canceled my order with them, got a UHaul and did most of the move myself.

Extremely disappointed. I had one large piece of furniture to go through a second floor window and researched many local movers paying particular attention to the comments. I chose My Guys based largely on the positive reviews posted. It was agreed that three movers would arrive on a particular date and hoist the piece through the window. There was a one hour minimum cost for this service, plus travel, plus a hoist fee. I specifically asked if setting up the hoist apparatus was included in the one hour and was told that it was. The three movers showed up within the time window on the agreed to date. I went outside to greet them and proceeded upstairs to remove the two window panes. I went back outside to find one of the movers setting up my ladder underneath the now open window. He had gone into the garage and found our lightweight household ladder tucked away in the front corner near a large shelving unit. I mentioned that it was lightweight and thought they were going to set up the hoist apparatus. He responded that they move this kind of thing all the time and didn’t need it. Not once did he ask permission to use the ladder. During the “hoist”, two movers got the item up to the edge of the window, then one left to join the third upstairs. The one left behind was holding the piece and struggling to maintain it. I was so concerned that he was not going to be able to hold it that I rushed to the garage and got a second ladder to assist. The other mover arrived upstairs and they were able to get the piece through the window. In the days that followed, I left two messages for one of the managers and was finally able to connect with him on my third attempt. He did not respond to either of my first two messages. I shared with him that while the ultimate objective was achieved, I was extremely disappointed with several things that took place that day. When told about the ladder he said that we would make sure management was aware of my concern. What about the hoist apparatus? “Oh, a “hoist” is any time the movers have to lift something above their head.” So the $100 hoist fee was not for an apparatus? “No, if they would have had to set up an actual hoist, then that would have been an additional fee.” This additional fee was never mentioned during previous conversations. All the companies I checked with were quoting roughly the same amount to hoist a single piece of furniture. For the kind of money I paid to move a single piece of furniture, I would have expected top notch service. Instead I got a crew that didn’t even show up with a ladder. The whole experience was extremely disappointing.

When I moved 1.5 years ago, I used My Guys Moving. When I needed to move again, they were one of the first companies I contacted. One of their sales reps, Terry, had been recommended to me by my realtor. He came out for the walk through and was very polite and did a quick but thorough walk-through. Their hourly rate was the same as I paid 1.5 years ago, but I had gotten a lower quote from another company (Starting with a P and based out of Fairfax, look for my review of them!), so even though I had liked My Guys, I decided to go with the cheaper company, because hey, why not save where I can. BAD IDEA. Only 3 days - THREE DAYS - before my scheduled AND CONFIRMED move, they told me they couldnt move me on Saturday, they were already fully booked, and that they needed to come out on Sunday. Huh?! I had been scheduled for over a week! And I couldnt move on Sunday. I had made plans for that day based on the ALREADY CONFIRMED move for Saturday. Not to mention, if they cant keep their first appointment, how can I be sure that theyd keep the second? No way. I cancelled my move with them and immediately called Terry with My Guys back. He. Was. Awesome. He reassured me that they could still do the move, and they would honor their same price. Whoa. Way cool. They totally couldve gouged me. And, hed even make sure I had the same crew as last time, since I liked them before. On Saturday morning, 4 guys came out exactly on time, led by crew chief Anibal. All the men introduced themselves, were polite, efficient, and gentle with both my home and belongings. I have a mixture of delicate Ikea and antique furniture, as well as big, sturdy, and HEAVY solid wood furniture but Anibals crew handled all of it with the same attention to detail. They blanketed and plastic wrapped everything. They worked together as a team to move the heavier items and did everything so fast! If/When I move again, Im not bothering with any other company. Moving is stressful enough on its own, theres no need to bother with second rate companies who cause only additional stress. From now on, Im calling My Guys only and requesting Anibal and his crew again.
