I too used Excel movers and although I really liked our Sales person who was willing to answer any and all of my questions and was really helpful my move itself was awful. The movers took one hour to load the truck which was great, but then they went to a restaurant for 30 min to have breakfast. I would not have mind this so much if I the leader stuck with his word saying he would not charge me for the time, but he did. I had to have it fixed by the by Sales guy, even after talking with the main office. Then the movers could not get the couch in one of the rooms we wanted it in, we asked them to place the couch in the living room and we would decided what to do with it from there. However, one of the movers felt he knew how to get the couch in the room so they tried but got the couch stuck in the door frame. The only way to get the couch out was to damage the couch my breaking the frame. I had no choice but to allow them to do this otherwise I would continue to be charged for the time. They finished unloading and told me the total would be 4 hours of labor….Anyone else find this odd one hour to load 3 hours to unload? After the manual labor left I called the main office explaining what happened. I paid for the insurance, but was told nothing could be done. I called my Sales guy who took the time to check with the General Manager where they credited the 30 min for the breakfast break, but told me they would not take any time off for the Couch getting stuck, justifying it by saying “the movers were just trying to make the move go smoothly”. I would have taken the cost of repairs and replacement of my hide-a-bed couch or time. I sent my sales guy pictures of the couch and door frame, hoping this would help with my claim, three weeks after my move and two emails I have received zero information from Excel. I would not recommend using Excel Movers and if you do not bother to buy the full insurance package as it does nothing for you.

I chose Excel for a long distance move based on the excellent reviews found here. Josh came out to do an inventory, and was very helpful and professional. He promised that I would have pick up and drop off date about a week before my actual pick up date. Josh was in constant contact asking for my payment. Once that was cleared, he refused all communication. Eventually, I received an email from my move coordinator. She seemed very confused, and could not figure out the move window set up by Josh. I seriously thought she was on drugs! I finally got a confirmed pick up day and time, a few days before the move, for Monday between 8am and 10am. At 11:30am on pick up day, no mover, and no one was answering the phone at Excel. Finally, someone called me back and explained that my move coordinator was no longer with the company as of ten minutes after she confirmed my dates, and that the driver assigned to move me decided he didnt want to do the move. She said someone else was coming in from Greensboro, and would be at my home in two hours. Four hours passed, no truck, no one answering the phone at Excel! Finally, a truck showed up. The driver informed me that he was just bringing my stuff to Greensboro, and that it would be warehoused, as there was no one to move it. One of their drivers had parked a full truck in the Greensboro company lot and walked away, according to the dispatcher we finally got through to. Finally, Allied got involved, and they couldnt reach anyone at Excel either. Just a nightmare! Things got worse from there, but this is too long already. In the end, I never received a basic apology for the hell this company put me through. I have moved many, many times in my life, and had some not so perfect experiences, but nothing could compare to this horrible debacle. I also know, from several other reviews, that they offer incentives to write positive reviews, which explains their high rating on Google.

I went with this company after a lot of research and chose them based on their reviews for my move from NC to TX. From the beginning I was assured that they would be the ones handling my move and I would not be handed off to someone else which is exactly what happened. Four guys showed up and they were on time but out of the 4 only 1 was actually doing any work inside my home as the other 3 were reorganizing the inside of the moving truck which set off a red flag right away.I asked the guy if they would all be helping with the move and he informed me that he was the only one who actually worked for Excel and the other 3 worked for Allied and he was just there to assist in loading! I couldnt believe it, I was so mad. I didnt purchase the extra insurance because based on the reviews I thought it unnecessary and that was a big mistake, which by the way I called to add and was told I could no longer do that once they reach my home. All of my items were delivered to a storage and they stayed in there for a month due to the closing time on my new house and it was a disaster when I finally got in there. Multiple boxes and plastic bins were crushed, brand new bookshelf had a hole in it and an office desk was completely broken. My dryer had the knobs broken right off and I even had a flat screen TV that was sitting on the concrete floor of the storage and right up against the brick wall...these are just a few of the issues. It was infuriating and all this after I had to pay a "stacking fee" for the storage delivery on top of the moving charge and I even tipped these guys to basically shove everything into the unit. I have filed a claim and am still waiting on this 2 weeks later but my advice would be to NOT use Excel if they are going to pass you off to Allied. This was the worst moving experience and we have done several of these moves.

Overall, the experience was good. Matt took care of estimating the weight of my move and was only about 50lbs below the actual weight (no extra charge to me). My move date was uncertain, but he was able to give me an estimate that would hold over Memorial Day weekend. Natalie was my moving coordinator. She sent me regular e-mail updates and helped me through the entire process. Day of move: The moving team was excellent. They called the evening before to confirm the time of pickup and my address. They arrived as scheduled, put down pads, and 2.5 hours later my place was completely empty. Day of delivery: I moved over a holiday weekend. This was the only major hassle in the entire process. My delivery date changed 3 times over the course of a week and ended up being 3 days outside of the agreed upon window. Natalie was excellent with keeping in contact with me and she was as frustrated as me when the original driver didnt load my stuff at the warehouse and left no reason why. As soon as she knew that it would be late, she sent me all of the material I needed to file a claim. She even sent me reminders after the delivery to file a claim. The claims process went smoothly and I received money back from Allied within 2-3 weeks of sending in my receipts. On delivery day, the unloading was a bit slower (only 2 guys instead of 3) than the loading day. They were professional and courteous. They padded all of my hardwood floors and delivered boxes to each room as requested. They put together a few items they had taken apart. My only complaint on this end was that they put our bikes back together incorrectly. None of the furniture was scratched or damaged.
