*** UPDATE *** Hey Pep Boys... the work that you said that had to be done by a professional front end alignment shop, was performed with no problems by a local repair shop on Sunday. After having struts installed by a very reliable and experienced mechanic, I was aware that I would most likely need a front end alignment. Since Pep Boys was close by, I chose this shop to have this done along with an oil change. I dropped it off since I was not in a hurry due to me being here from out of town & visiting family for the holidays for the weekend. After it being in their shop for 4 hours I was called with "GOOD NEWS / BAD NEWS". Good news being my high mileage oil change was done but not the front end alignment. I was told that there was some work that needed to be performed by a "professional alignment shop" that was recommended to me and was not open on the weekends. This is a huge issue since I had to be on the road Monday morning. After telling my mechanic what I was told, he said they were incorrect and that they could do the job! After relaying this back to this location, I was told that he didnt know about what I was telling him and he had to go by what his mechanic told him. Basically I am pretty sure they just didnt want to do the work. I also had to go back in to the shop and ask for a sticker to remind me when my next oil change - very basic responsibility that was forgotten on their end. Note to self: NEVER go to a shop that does not display their services & prices out front for the customer to see. I recommend FIRESTONE - they had no issues doing the front end alignment and knew exactly what I was talking about when I told him what I was told by the employees at this location.

Well, where do I start. Originally took my car to Pep Boys at 1116 Lynnhaven Parkway for an alternator. Upon picking up the car, I noticed a very loud power steering whine. I called over the counter guy and mechanic for them to hear. They indicated that this would go away after a day or so and that the mechanic with the "special tool" to bleed the system was gone. These were both not true. I went home and Googled the problem and found out all that is necessary to bleed the system is to turn the wheel to the stops a few times. I tried this but the whine was as bad as ever. After a day or so, I took the car back in and ended up replacing the power steering pump. The pump was fine when I took the car in for the alternator so I have no clue how it got messed up. I picked up the car and everything seemed fine. A week later, I was checking my fluids and noticed my power steering fluid was low. Great, now I have a power steering leak. This went on for a while...me keeping the fluid topped off..... and when I had time, I took the car back to Pep Boys to get the leak checked. They kept the car over night and replaced a fluid line to the power steering pump. This was fine too before I took the car in for the original alternator. Now, my leak seems fixed but I have a low whine from the power steering pump. I simply give up on these guys. You would think that if you replace parts, you might check that everything associated with those parts are in order. Now, my car runs great except the power steering pump whine.....why, cause I do all my own work other than what Pep Boys screwed up. Run far far away from this place. I dont think they have a clue what they are doing.

I wouldnt recommend anyone bring their car to this place at all, the front desk staff are rude and seriously lack customer service skills. Today was the second time I brought my car to them for a simple oil change and it will be the last, I would never let them touch my car again. I took my car to them around 9 am on a Saturday morning, after about 6-7 hours I had to call them to find out if my car was ready to which they said it would be another 30 minutes because they were just getting to it. About 5 minutes later I got a call from them saying that who ever changed my oil last put on the oil plug to tight so they had no choice but to use pliers and force it off which stripped the plug and I needed to pay extra for a new one. Also because they used a new plug that now I may or may not have a oil leak issue and Id just have to keep an eye on it. I feel like I shouldve been notified BEFORE they made a decision that could end up damaging my car. When I brought up the issue in person they ALL were rude dismissive and uncaring. In fact there was another customer in there arguing that they damaged his vehicle also, which they were very rude and condescending with also. So again anyone reading this AVOID this place, you RISKING your car by bringing it here. No telling what condition you will get it back in or when for that matter. Choice is yours..

At Pep Boys they are a bunch of con men not mechanics! They ripped me off on 4 wheel alignment job which destroyed brand new front tires! 7 month After Pep Boys alignment I noticed MAJOR outside tire wear so I took it back to their so called service center on Lynnhaven Pkwy , Service rep took a look and blamed abnormal tire wear on the tires which was total bullS.....I could see it in his eyes. From there I took vehicle to Charles Barker Toyota were a real mechanic found that Pep Boys never adjusted tie-rods which caused tire damage. Damage done - ruined tires $520.00 + PepBoys alignment cost. Lesson learned - STAY AWAY FROM PEPBOYS!.......................................................................................................... UPDATE: 9/14/2013 - Well my Google review got the attention of Service manager at PepBoys Lynnhaven which is great but still disappointing . Manager gave me a call to resolve issue in which I received many apologies & was offered refund for the faulty alignment. A couple hours later I stopped by store spoke with manager.....A very nice guy really seemed to care. He gave me a 69.00 refund & more apologies for the faulty job received. That made me feel a little better but my tires are still ruined, Anyway whats done is done life moves on I will up my rating one star.
