If other auto repair shops operated the way Hawk does business, maybe hating mechanic shops wouldnt be such a cliche fact of life. If Google offered a golden "6th star" rating, Hawk would get it. My 2006 Subaru Outback has had a slow head gasket leak for a few months that we needed to wait til tax return time to deal with. After a call to all Subaru dealerships in King County, the estimate for replacing the head gasket and spark plugs (bare bones, no other services) was running $2,200-2,500. After calling 5-7 non-dealership shops, the estimate was running $1,400-2000 with the cost pretty much directly correlating to the online rating of the shop; i.e. 2 -star shop = $1,400, 4-star shop = $2,000. So when Hawk quoted just over $1,200 AND was unanimously well reviewed I decided to take a chance. I will take both of our cars back to Hawks Asian Auto from now on for any major services. Hawk finished the repair exactly when he said he would, was friendly and honest, performed more work than was initially asked for after finding a couple issues, yet still came in ~$20 UNDER his original estimate. Makes me feel like the shady mechanic. BOTTOM LINE...I generally dont bother writing reviews but I will recommend Hawk to my friends and review him positively on other sites as well. While I understand that different people may have different experiences....the "BEWARE! Poor work/doesnt stand behind hi work!!!" review below appears to be enough of an outlier to suggest that it is a fluke at best, or more likely untrue. I was not asked to purchase my own parts, repairs were done on time, and Hawks wall of thank you cards does not suggest a joke of a business. Hawk is also positively reviewed on Angies list and Yelp. POSITIVES: Honest, Friendly, Accurate, Low cost AND quality service, Came in just under his original estimate, ~$1,000 less than dealership quote, Lowest quote among non-dealerships, Performed several additional services at no cost, NEGATIVES: Hes ~20 miles from my home.

I have been bringing my cars to Hawk since 2006. He is an amazining and honest mechanic rooted in good Christian values. I needed to do the timing belt service on my Acura MDX the dealership quoted me $2800 for the work. I took it to Hawk and gave him the list of things to be done and I was charged $1500. I have had two Honda S2000s, an Acura TL, my current Honda Accord, and my current Acura MDX all serviced here. I dont know about anyone else but the dealership charges an insane amount for mechanic work and they can get away with it mostly because people have an inherent trust in the dealership to do good work. But they dont! Dealerships have a lot of overhead to pay for thats why their prices are outrageous. In my experience I have seen no better work from a dealership and in many times worse service. Hawk is a tremendously honest guy. I brought my Honda in and asked him to do some work on it. He looked the car over and when I came to pick it up he fixed what was needed but some of the things I asked for he said didnt need to be done yet and to save my money. What other mechanic has that kind of honesty. When you walk into his office the wall is covered from floor to ceiling with thank you cards and notes. If some people have had a bad experience here I would assume they might be difficult people in general to deal with and therefore impossible to please. As long as I drive japanese cars I will forever take my vehicles to Hawk for service. This kind of repair shop is rare to find and I am so thankful to have found it.

I dont know where all these five star reviews are coming from. My experience with Hawk was different. I was having brake pressure issues so I brought my car to Hawks repair shop since I found all these great reviews about him on yelp. I told him my pedal was dropping all the way to the floor with no pressure. He inspected the car and told me it was just the front brake pads, rear rotors & rear brake pads that needed to be replaced. So I told him to just replace the rear rotors because I can replace the pads myself. Also the thickness of the front pad had plenty of life left because I checked before I brought it to him. He seemed upset and adamant about replacing all the parts still. According to his diagnosis it was the rotors & pads so I let him replace the rears. I got the car back from him and it did feel a little better and the brake pedal didnt drop to the floor that day but the next day the same issue happened again. This time it was worse because there was no brake fluid in my brake master cylinder. It disappeared. Before I brought my car to Hawk my brake fluid was full in the master cylinder but now it disappears when I drive the car making it unsafe to drive. So his diagnosis was wrong. Replacing the rotors and pads did not fix the problem. Now I have to bring it to another mechanic for a proper diagnostic. If Hawk couldnt diagnose a brake problem what makes you think he can diagnosis a major engine problem. I wont be bringing my car back to him. I suggest looking elsewhere.

Took in a Mitsubishi Eclipse to get failed head gasket fixed. First of all he made me buy the parts myself? Isnt it the shops job to provide parts? Sketchy...paid over 1500 to get the repair done and within 6 months the part failed again as well as caused my radiator to melt. The receipt specifically says all work is guaranteed for 6 months or 7500 miles both of which applied when the repair failed. Instead of correcting the problem, Hawk was very argumentative and resistant to standing behind his work. When i finally went to pick it up the whole repair wasnt even complete and i finally had enough so just took the car back after he made me sign a paper saying he was not liable for future damage..ARE YOU SERIOUS? This guys runs a joke of a business!

I had my engine replaced in this shop. I did not bother to get the old engine which can be sold at 300 because I was grateful that he repaired my car. After 3 months, the engine failed. The engine was bought with a compression test from another dealer. When I had it checked with Hawk, he cannot make an estimate when it will be done and kept saying there is a problem with a starter. When I pulled it from his shop and had another mechanic to check, I was surprised that the engine was never replaced! For 2K bucks, he lost my respect. The car is a Mitsubishi Galant 2001. I will never take my car ever from this shop! Be careful if you continue bringing your car to his shop!

Absolutely the best mechanic I have ever dealt with and Im 50. Honest to a fault! He has saved me thousands and has been nothing but helpful! Hawks integrity is absolutely above reproach as you can see from his hundreds of Thank You cards - when another mechanic lied to me, telling me that he had to replace the engine for $4500, Hawk told me that the mechanic was trying to rip me off and worked on it for almost nothing. Really, I only buy Japanese cars because I dont want anyone other than Hawk to work on my car. Im willing to bet Mr BEWARE! Poor work... is a false complaint from a competing store that failed to rip off a customer because of him.
