I am a widow with no auto care experience. I bought a new Subaru in 2008. I consider it an investment because the longer I can drive it, the longer I can wait to have to pay for a new car. So naturally I want to take care of it. For the first seven years I took it to the dealer for maintenance because I wanted upkeep by Subaru experts. Having maintenance at the dealership was expensive, however. When I received a postcard in the mail from Southend Auto, I decided to give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised! They performed the routine maintenance I needed last spring and told me what parts would need to be replaced within a few months with an estimate for that work. I took the car back in six months for fall maintenance and the additional work that had been indicated. I appreciated the advance warning on the needed repairs so that I could prepare for the cost which I felt was reasonable for the work that was done. I need to know that I have an auto care center that appreciates my car needs and financial situation. I have that kind of confidence with Southend Auto Care. I like that they are professional and courteous and they respect my lack of knowledge about auto maintenance. I feel they will continue to take care of me and my car. My car still runs as well as it did the day I bought it! Thats security for me!

Just drove by their shop(passing through) pretty easy to see the Giant sign off to the side of the road. Not knowing alot about cars I still felt very comfortable with the advice that was given by the Owner ? Mark/paul not sure which is which spoke with both. Very glad I didnt have to wait at their shop the whole time my car was worked, they did have wifi but i cant stand staying hours in one spot, can drive me crazy ;) so they offered me two choices to take a loaner car that i didnt have to pay for say whaaaat.. too bad im not 25 yet, but they did have a shuttle service which offered to take me up to the local mall so I could get some shopping in while they took care of my car. It did take kinda long for them to get back to me with what was going on but it was also pretty busy when i dropped off my car and picked it up so I let it slide this time lol but I was sold on the very good review when i saw that they vacuumed my car and washed it. sry guys i know my cars gross. Overall I felt comfortable while there, felt good about leaving my car there, only downside was the time it took to get back on the road but hey it still got taken care of the same day, my dad says price was legit for what they did i guess and my cars still working like couple months later and its very clean now because of the guys at South End Autocare

I only give them the second star because of the friendly customer service, appreciated follow-up call and they were a clean place. As far as the rest goes, they are by far the most expensive auto shop Ive ever been to and its not really even that close. I was leaking oil. They told me in advance that it was going to be $73 plus tax to diagnose the source; which isnt necessarily cheap and the price didnt go down when they could easily see it was the valve cover gasket leaking oil. (In their words, "its obviously wet under there.) So with that said, it cost $73 for them to tell me a ($19-$30 online) valve cover gasket needed to be replaced. However, he wanted to change the whole valve cover "in case" it was warped which was going to run me anywhere from $850 to just over $900. The valve cover can be found for as low as $282 online and, no joke, theres a unedited youtube video of a shop removing the valve cover in 2 minutes and 50 seconds. So at most this should have been less than half of my quote.... IF I NEEDED THAT DONE, which I didnt. Im sure theyre great mechanics, I wish I could say that I knew firsthand but I do know that I was quoted MUCH MORE than I should have been for a job that I didnt even need. Unless I win the lotto I wont be going back.

I contacted Mark late on Thursday a told him about the problems I was having, he told me that I could drop it off Friday morning. Unfortunately I had some personal issues that I had to take care of and unable to leave my car that Friday. It actually took me to the following Tuesday till I was able to drop my car off. They were very good about working around my schedule. The customer service is blue chip from Mark the owner Mike the service manager and Matt the shuttle driver. I do have to say that you only problem I had was in regards to a diagnostic charge that I felt was a little unclear. Mark found out that I felt the charge for the diagnostic was Bogus, and that other than that the service and work was excellent. When Mark found out about my disappointment he contacted and apologized f the misunderstanding about the charges. He offered to refund the $45.00. which was very fair. I also got a oil change which I believe was very fair for a top of the line synthetic $69.00 Kendall great oil. Commicate and be upfront with these folks. Thank you Mark for stepping up beyond my expectations. Feel safe going to Southend they are fair and trustworthy. Peace of mind maintenance. Thanks again Mark Mike and Matt

Southend Auto Care was recommended to me as a shop that was wonderful to work with and would be fairly priced. I brought in our Nissan Murano to have some maintenance work done with the spark plugs, boots, gaskets etc and so far my vehicle is performing well. Throughout my experience i have never felt they were trying to sell me anything and Mike was extremely easy to talk to throughout the process. I love the fact that the shop provides a shuttle or a loaner, a big plus for our family since we only have one vehicle. At the end of the repair Mike showed me the old parts they took off of my vehicle and thoroughly explained the current condition they were in, giving me peace of mind. If your looking for quality work at a good price give Southend Auto Care a try. Southend auto will be my go to shop for all my auto care needs, yes we have to drive a few miles but its worth it to me if in the end your are well taken care of. Finally like others here, my repair was followed up by a call to see how things were running. Thank you Southend auto!

TL;DR: honest, non-pressuring, fair price, personable. I had to get something fixed on my car to pass the emissions test of the state, and I literally picked the closest auto shop on the list the emissions people gave me. I did see that Southend had great reviews, but that doesnt automatically mean a place is as good as the reviews. In Southends case, the great reviews are true. Mark was super friendly and helpful. I had kind of a tough repair decision to make, but he didnt pressure me, and he also didnt get upset when I changed my mind and went ahead with the repair that I really did need to get done. They also did a thorough check of my vehicle and gave an honest report about their repair suggestions. Again, there was no pressure. I just got a follow-up thank-you card in the mail from them actually, which is a great personal touch. I was looking for a good auto place for while Im in Tacoma, and Southend is the place.
