long review, but worth reading if youre thinking about joining: great starter gym with a decent amount of variety. price is unbeatable, and the staff seem friendly enough. HOWEVER why the fixation with eft payments? virtually every other business on earth accepts plastic (aka credit cards). not Planet Fitness, at least for recurring payments. before joining, i dug into the membership agreement and there is a clause stating that "If you provide us with more than one method of payment, you authorize us to charge any amounts you may owe us including, but not limited to, any membership-related obligations, retail transactions, and/or online purchases to any form of payment which you have provided us UNTIL such time as you revoke your authorization for that method of payment by written notification delivered to the club in person or preferably via certified mail to the address listed above." great, sign me up! except that Planet Fitness wont actually honor this clause because, according to the club manager, members MUST do monthly bank acct withdrawals. sorry? i have worked in the fitness industry before and i dont want anyone besides my employer having open access to my bank acct. this begs a question: if Planet Fitness wont honor this simple clause which is clearly worded in their own membership agreement, what else are people being scammed into believing? please do your homework before signing up, and keep an eye on your bank account if you join.
Edit: I wanted to use my jumping rope in the gym because they dont have one and they said "you cant bring in outside equipment." They said this after I called in advance and was told that I could bring my own as long as I didnt leave it lying around so people wouldnt trip... Heres why Planet Fitness is the worst gym ever: 1.) They dont let you bring you being gym bags in because they say, "its a tripping hazard." Another gym member said it was because their plates kept getting stolen. So the employees are dishonest. 2.) You cant wear certain shorts because they think "itll damage the machines." Seriously?! 3.) They dont let you squat without shoes because "its a liability." But they forget that everyone signs a waiver that voids the gyms liability in case of an injury. 4.) Some of the employees dont know basic customer service skills. The white girl with glasses (supervisor?) does not know how to smile. If youre working a customer facing position, learn to smile! These guys are just looking for ways to lose members. Go to 24 or LA instead.
This Gym just recently opened, so all of the equipment, and facilities are brand new. All of the staff are amazing, helpful, polite, and genuine, a rare combo. When you go in hopefully you get Forest, Randalyn, or Kim, they definitely know there stuff, and are super helpful. The pricing is the lowest I have seen at any gym. They do not offer classes like Zumba, or spin classes. They do however offer complimentary Physical Training (because my lack of experience with working out it was/is extremely helpful for me ). If you upgrade to the Black Card you gain access to the "Black Card Salon" where you can use the Tanning beds, Hydro Massage Chairs and Hydro Massage Beds that feel amazing after a good workout. I was a little skeptical because of the low price, but have been thoroughly impressed everyday I come in. I would definitely recommend this gym for the average person looking to get in shape. If youre into Bodybuilding, or Very Heavy weight lifting you might want to check other places out first.
Sure this place was great, the first 30 days it was open cause it was empty.. its basically set up for a beginner in the fitness area. Theres a few well trained individuals but thats not what Im pointing on. The place is a is kept OK 50% of the time, the other 50% the bathrooms are a mess, the sinks and counter area are never whipped down .. why theres no paper towels in the sink area for people to clean up after them selves. I have no clue Theres always peoples dirty wiped down paper towels left on the very few machines they do have, water bottles and what ever else people decide to leaves behind. In the cup holders of the eliptics machine treadills , etc Peak hours, around 7pm the whole southern part of the gym, free weights , smith machines and ab area smells of retched body oder, actually so gross I stopped going and cancelled my membership.. but for 10$ a month why wouldnt you go here.. enjoy your workout .. oh yeah tottsie rolls too.
Wow!! really rude and inattentive staff condescending attitude when you call them and ask to speak to the manager... like its their fault and their problem or something... My wanting to talk to the manager had nothing to do with customer service but now that you guys treated me so badly I will be addressing your lack of courtousey as well ...wow... And ill probably never hear back from your manager as well... Dont come to this place unless you want to be treated like some kind of burden... The "employees" are a bunch of counter leaning teenagers with a spiteful attitude... What the hell kind of hiring is the manager doing here?? Not to mention Ive literally never seen the employees do anything but hang out behind the counter... eveything is not sanitary it would kill these guys to do some cleaning rounds instead of being on their phones... DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE...
Some of the people working behind the counter need to talk their personal gossip somewhere else. Everybody can hear the things being said and it was a little unprofessional. Other than that the establishment itself was wonderful. I would recommend it to friends and family and I would recommend to Planet Fitness to talk to the ladies at the front desk in Kent about keeping their personal conversations in the back room. With it trying to be a non-judgmental environment when you hear somebody passing judgement on other people and then laughing that is very unprofessional and inappropriate. I lowered my rating after a few experiences ...some of the female employees are very RUDE..talk to a few other people at the GYM and totally agree if U dont tell some one they cant answer call well working out U should properly inform people instead of being disrespectful to UR PAYING COSTUMERS!
I was applying to work at their gym before they opened the facility. It was crazy with everything not developed but I had applied online and nobody was returning my calls. I went to the actual location twice and bothe times the manager Kim was not on site. The phone system was down so they werent leaving messages I left my resume and cover letter and followed up two days later. I called and came to the location and spoke with the same front desk receptionists that she wasnt available. Finally I called and Kim just left because she was off five minutes before I called. Go figure!!! So one week went by and no call no followup with my resume and cover letter.
1.5 rows of treadmills, 1 row of elliptical, stretching room, abs room, 30 minute workout room, and lots of free weights. (Sanitize the weights BEFORE you use them, if youre worried.) Lelita, below, is correct: For a Judgement Free Zone, nearly every employee certainly has an opinion to share about each PF patron. While it makes me slightly uncomfortable, I generally dont care what others think of me: Its an immature mindset to live ones lide by anothers mindset. Regardless, incredibly rude employee behavior is repeatedly displayed here. On the bright side, whenever Ive reported dirty or unsafe conditions, they have been immediately remedied.
