While the gym facilities seemed adequate, the actual business practices of this place are appalling and predatory. They show very little concern for customers beyond their ability to siphon money from them. On multiple occasions, I had shown up to use the gym and no one was there to let me check in. In one case, I had to wait 20 minutes for the front desk attendant to show up. But I think the most appalling thing is what happened when I attempted to cancel my membership. The day I called to cancel (November 24th), I was told that Id have to come in to cancel and that I couldnt do it over the phone for security reasons. I felt this was odd, but I agreed and told them Id drop in later that week. I stopped in to cancel my membership on November 29th and was told that the gym "didnt have a manager on hand because theyd all recently been let go and that Id have to drive to the Landing LA Fitness to cancel my membership." Being a bit annoyed and not wanting to drive over to the Landing, I argued with the person until they finally said they could put in a request to cancel our account but Id have to wait for the email to approve it. I reluctantly agreed annoyed with the amount of hoops I had do jump through just to cancel my account. At this point, I asked to make sure that I wasnt going to be charged for anymore services, (everything they had done seemed shady up to this point so I wanted to be sure) they informed me that I would be charged for December because I needed to cancel my membership at least five days before my billing date (something they didnt make me aware of when I first called). Now I had never heard of such crap, at previous gyms, Id cancel and theyd pro-rate me for the days used. But apparently if you dont want to get charged for an extra month at LA Fitness, you have to cancel your account 5 days prior to the billing date. My advice is to avoid this place, dont join a gym where they exploit their customers. Ill never use LA Fitness again thanks to this shady behavior and I recommend you all be very careful if youre going to do business with them.

Yay! Finally this location is open to the public! A new shiny gym with brand new machines that havent been tainted by years of sweat germs? Yes, please! Pros: Large, open space with lots of weight machines. After a cursory glance there were quite a few machines I wasnt familiar with, so my take away is there is great variety. Theres a nice space tucked away for stretching and floor exercises (a big plus in my book). The studio where I assume Zumba classes will be held looks really roomy with a gigantic mirrored wall. The cycling room had several dozen stationary bikes facing the main workout area, so you wont be looking into a mirror (which I find distracting). The top floor is all cardio machines, and plenty of them. The biggest pro of all? Individual TVs on each cardio machine. You can even plug in your iPod to watch video on the larger screen while you do your cardio. Nice touch. Neutral: Multiple machines are out of order, will likely be fixed or installed before Grand Opening. The pool looked pool-ish though it doesnt have buoy lane dividers. The locker room/bathroom door no longer has the superfluous digital lock. Despite website reporting the contrary, there is indeed a sauna that looks to be functional. No verdict on classes, trainers, or front staff... yet. Cons: There is no Juice Bar despite the space built to accommodate one, and doesnt look like there are any plans to have one in soon :( The racquet and basketball courts look to be on the small side, this might be a bummer to some. Although there seem to be lots of bikes in the cycling room, they look to be a little cramped. Wish the cardio machine TV hookups included a mini-HDMI port for non-Apple products.

Beware of their contracts!! Honestly I never had an issue with their gym until I decided to sign up for personal training. I was given misleading information regarding the cost for the sessions as well as their cancellation policy for the contract. As soon as I had realized I was given the incorrect information I tried to cancel my contract. I hadnt even used any of my sessions yet. The corporate office made absolutely no effort to help me with this. Since I was outside of the three day period to cancel (I was originally told I had 30 days) I would have to do a 50/50 buyout of my sessions, meaning I was responsible for half of the entire cost of my one year contract. So regardless of the fact that they hired an incompetent employee they had no intention of making the situation right. They simply offered to cancel my contract in February which would prevent me from continuing to be charged month to month. After doing quite a bit of research it appears that quite a few of their customers have been trapped in contracts with them. Please just make sure you have all of the information before signing your name on the line with these people. Corporate service at its finest. Not to mention that this same employee was hungover during our first complementary session and openly admitted it. I later found out that he no longer works at this location...not because he was fired but because he was transferred to an Auburn location. He apparently had quite a few complaints about him and rather than remove him from their company they decided to just move him somewhere else.

I gave it 5 stars because I love the gym, get the plans when they are lowest like $30 per month if you can catch the good deals. the first time I got on a monthly plan we stopped going and there was some miscommunication so we racked up quite a bill but they cleared it for us because we had proof we cancelled and we clearly hadnt been there. the second time we stopped going they automatically just removed us from the plan which made me kind of sad but at least that way we werent paying for something we werent going to. they wanted to set us up with a personal trainer because the staff are commission based but you can just say no, its the only place with a swimming pool and hot tub all year round in the fairwood & renton area. be warned it is a place ware people show off and look down on you if your not skinny enough, which is just the type of paradox that fat people live in, but oh well.

The staff are very helpful and the equipment is usually in great condition. Breakdowns happen, but the staff ensure that the broken equipment is attended to immediately and marked as "Scheduled for Service" if a technician cannot be on site right away. I have been a member of LA Fitness for about a year, and I was able to recently get my fiance to join. We went in with a different plan in mind, but the guy we talked with was able to help us find a more affordable plan that even allowed my fiance multi-club access! I normally go mid-morning, so the gym usually isnt too busy; but even in the evenings, the weight area isnt too crowded. Sometimes it can be a fight to find a bench or a weight rack, but thats pretty usual in any gym after a normal workday!
