I originally started going to this facility when I purchased a very generous Groupon. Prior to going, I read reviews and was a little worried that I would be aggressively sold membership. This was not the case. Upon arriving, you discuss with a staff member what your goals are. During your first session, they are with you by your side the whole time teaching you techniques and making sure you have correct form. By having that personalized, individual attention, I felt a lot more confident about kickboxing. The classes itself are fun and an incredible workout. They begin with jogging with integrated exercises like high knees or butt kickers. After, you do 15 minutes of intense cardio and strength building like burpees, squats, planks, etc. Even if it isnt your first time, another staff member in addition to the instructor is present to make sure everyone has good form. After the cardio and sweating, you proceed to do stretching to warm up for the fun kickboxing part. You start with punch combos and then later progress to kicks. This is where the staff members checking your form is also really important and helpful. The majority of the time is spent with the punching bags, and then after thats done, you do punching with a partner and then partner exercises. The staff is filled with high energy dedicated people who love what they do. They motivate you and push you to work hard and want to see you succeed. While they encouraged me to buy a membership on my first day to receive a generous discount, they did not pressure me or guilt me into it. They were realistic and understanding. Some of the other reviewers claim they were condescending, but Ive seen many of them in action with newbies, and this is definitely not the case. Apparently there used to be a different manager with stricter rules (like you can only use ILK gloves, not your own). Today, Jamie is the manager, and she is super supportive, understanding, and realistic about how a business should be run. I am incredibly impressed with the flow of things and they definitely have creative marketing efforts. I honestly have nothing negative to say though. The facility is nice, and the mats are always cleaned. They take pictures, hold special events and contests, and it really makes you feel like you are part of a community. I would definitely recommend at least trying the place out if you are on the fence about it to see for yourself. They have some really good trial rates. I think theres 3 classes plus a pair of your own boxing gloves for $19.99 and there are also some other online deals out there. It doesnt hurt to try. When it doubt, work it out. :-)

From the moment I stepped foot in the gym, I could tell this place had a unique and exceptional air about it. Everyone, from members to instructors causally but enthusiastically conversed with one another as they lounged around in the leather chairs that centered the lobby. They were drenched in sweat but absolutely beaming with an afterworkout glow, unwrapping and actually rewrapping their hands for the next class for a large majority of this group was planning an attempt to pull a double. I was immediately greeted by the bright and sunny face of Jamie who earnestly inquired my name, about my day and why I was interested in kickboxing. After a quick evaluation of my intended fitness goals, I was presented with my very own pair of gloves and she whisked me away into the next room with bumping music and a bunch of boxing bags. This apparently was where the magic happened. The lead instructor entered the room and announced we had one minute before class started and when the music changed over to the next song we were to begin. As soon as that song switched over it was 15 minutes of the most intense cardio I had ever endured. Mind you Im extremely active. I do it all from indoor soccer to snowboarding to dirt-biking to multiple day hikes but this was life changing stuff here. Even though every part of me was burning from the ever-changing intervals of the random workout the leading instructor commanded next, Jamie never left my side and encouraged me to keep going. I finished the warm up and though completed winded, exhausted and dripping with sweat, I felt so incredibly accomplished and seriously couldnt wait for more. The bag rounds were just as intense as the warm up. I felt like a certified bad-ass kicking and punching that bag with all my energy and learning something new every few minutes from my trusty and completely nonjudgmental instructor Jamie. This class was truly one of a kind and very self empowering. I signed up that day. If you are looking to either change your life, challenge yourself in new and effective ways, want to blow off steam or just want to be a part of a seriously kickass family, THIS IS THE CLASS FOR YOU. These people, members and instructors, are the most motivating, genuine, caring people youll ever met in the fitness world and will do anything to help you accomplish your goals and get you results.

1 month ago I did a google search on fun workouts in the Kirkland area, and Ilovekickboxing - Kirkland popped up with a deal for 3 classes and free gloves. Looked like fun, so I signed up! 1 month later, I am sooo glad that I made that decision. The first class was super informative and a blast. My boyfriend and I signed up for 1 year after that one class. Currently I am about 30lbs over my ideal weight of 145lbs, which is what I weighed when I graduated college 4 years ago. Since then, I have tried Curves, circuit training, running, and Crossfit, but was never in love with any of them and I had to drag myself there a few times a week. Eventually I would stop going. But I LOVE ilovekickboxing and am excited to go in each day. I go 5 days per week and on those 2 off days, I get kinda sad that I dont get to go that day. Crazy!!! Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about the staff and facility. Morgan, Hadley, and Yurah are my favorite coaches! After just one month, I am already starting to see definition in my legs and arms. My mood and energy level has changed noticeably. I cannot wait to see what the next 11 months brings me :) Thank you ilovekickboxing - see you tonight!

A couple years ago, I came to this studio with a friend who had been consistently going to classes. Thinking I could keep up since I was a daily gym rat, I instantly was put in my place, in a good way. Though I still am an advocate for the gym, ILoveKickboxing showed me that there are ways to really challenge your body that the gym just cant give you. And it doesnt hurt that you feel like a complete BA while doing it! The motivation they give you by exclaiming encouraging words and helping you on your form really pushes you to get better, and stick with it. I have a lot of ailments that limit me on mimicking the way the instructor does certain "warm-up" circuits so I have to do modifications, but even then, I get my booty kicked where it needs to be! I am currently back at the facility trying a Groupon, and am feeling the need to continue on past my paid sessions just to keep up this feeling of power and strength. It truly is a great place to let out your stress and feel better about your body.
