What a scam, have two units at the location, dont want to but a recent move left me without much choice, got behind a bit which is completely my fault I admit that, today was the "supposed" auction day, ( In two visits to facility i have yet to see any auction occuring, anyhow I stopped in to pay my units this morning, I had paid a couple hundred last week and owed about 450, I arrived at the facility with 360 in cash and had made arrangements to put the rest on a card over the phone. The lady behind the counter apparently asks me some question but Im busy trying to get a payment done, since she said I only had 5 minutes. Their phone isnt only sort of working, and of course my cell is dead. I ask which unit is paid off and she says NEITHER, now both units had balances below $360, but this women actually applied a partial payment to both units so that they were both still in jeopardy of auction. She claimed it was the way the system does it, this however does not tread water, even at a 50/50 distribution one unit would have been paid off, she had to divide the payment along a 70/30 split to leave both with balances. She of course laid all the blame on me not answering her question, because you know maybe I want to be ripped off. When I asked how she would apply it to her own unit she was "unable to answer that question" ( presumably on the grounds it might incriminate herself) she then starts screaming at me and in a true display of elementary school one upmanship she tells me I am no longer allowed to use HER phone, I ask to speak to a regional manager and am told I cannot, thankfully I was able to get home and get a payment applied (so much for 5 minutes) , I hope at least. When i returned to get a confirmation I was refused one, I was also refused access to my units. Public Storage charges enough for rental they shouldnt have to use such underhanded tactics to make an extra buck, I have had units in three different facilities, at one their contractors damaged my property and i was treated so horribly by their claims people I finally gave up on it, My recommendation, check out AAAA down the street, or their is another outfit at Des MOines MEm dr and about 142nd or so.

A charity I do volunteer work runs one major event per year (over Easter weekend); we keep out stuff at this facility, in two of their largest units (we have a lot of stuff). Yesterday was the big move-in; apparently just after wed left with the first truckload, an unsecured load in a flatbed snagged an overhead cable, leaving it hanging low over the vehicle gate. They called the utility service to get it fixed, but had to close off the gate with caution tape/cones in the meantime (While theoretically a car could have driven under it, nothing taller would and I do not blame them AT ALL for closing the gate to everyone; it was a windy and stormy day and the cable could have easily fallen all the way to the ground at any time). When we got back for our second load, the gate was still closed, unknown how long it would take for utility service to arrive and secure the cable. The PS office was letting people park in their tiny front lot and access the facility through the pedestrian gate, but that didnt work for us (truck was too big to fit in that lot). So, they let us into the adjacent gate to the facility next door (these used to be different facilities, a Surgard and a PS, before PC bought Surgard), while there is no vehicle access between the two, it at least gave us a place to put the truck and access to our storage units via a footpath. Took a lot longer to load that way (the truck being a few hundred yards away from the storage instead of backed up to it) but it was much better than not being able to load at all; and when the cable was eventually fixed we got to get in and load the last of the stuff into the truck directly. TL; DR: Fallen cable closed off vehicle entrance to storage unit during high demand period, PS office staff responded well and mitigated the situation as best they could.

Jerry, the on site manager here does a very good job. The place is clean and well kept. The policies are much like cell phone companies, the perks are all for new customers, not those that they already have. Make sure and select the right size when you book online because if you do not, you will not be offered any breaks when you need a larger unit. Also, if you decide to try to get a better deal, that is offered online, this is no lie, I was told that I would need to move my stuff out for a month or so, then log on again and get a better deal. In other words, once you are in, the price can and will go up, and you will not get any of the advertised deals, $1 for the first month, half a month rent free. The exact same size unit I rented two weeks ago is now offered at $14 less a month online but is not available to me. So shop, and if you go and find out you need a larger unit, LEAVE. Go home, wait, and log on some other day until you get the deal you want. Once you get through all of that, it is what it is, space, well kept with a good staff.

Do not rent a storage unit from this place. The prices you see on their web site are not right. I resevered a unit online & when I got to the actual storage place to fill out & sign the paper work they were going to charge me more then what the web site said. When I explained to them that the price on there web site was cheaper the manager said "those prices are for a different size unit" which was total BS. I even had a print out of the ad from there web site showing the size of the unit & the price. It is very run down looking place. When I entered the building where my unit was located there was a fucky smell. Which I never did find out what the stentch was. Not very secured. I seen on multiple occisons that entry doors to the buildings where prompted open or just left open & no one was around. Why even have a code to get into the buildings if you allow doors to stay prompted open.

Linda was exceptionally welcoming as I arrived at her desk while helping another client and when I told her I have a reservation She even remembered my name and told me she was expecting me. she took an extra effort to find me the most suitable spot. Surprisingly enough She found one closer to her office. What a peace of mind!!Besides She is very polite very patient and sincere and very caring. Her customer service was very personal and outstanding She made me feel valued and that I am in good hands.I cannot thank Linda enough for her effort to process me out ASP as I had an overseas flight to catch. This is an important trip for me and I will always think of Lindas kindness as I reminiscence Back. Thank You very much Linda. You are the Icon of great service.
