Went in for a short bob cut, loved the result! The staff were friendly, Isabelle the stylist listened to what I wanted for my hair and did her magic. The cost was reasonable ($35 for a haircut with shampoo) and first time I ever had service and not tip (felt weird). The location is convenient, plenty of parking, in a commercial center that also houses a library, a Ross, a supermarket and several other retail shops and restaurants. I will come back and recommend the salon to everyone I know. Update: I came back for another hair cut yesterday and this time left very, very disappointed. I asked for a simple bob cut with soft layers (no bangs) and what I got was an uneven chopped off look that no one would think was a salon-serviced cut. Sigh. I called today to ask for Isabelle hoping to get an appointment with her to fix it but was told shes on leave. Double sigh. In fairness, the salon people are nice and maybe I just got unlucky with the stylist I got but....I wont be coming back there anymore and would absolutely NOT recommend it without a buyer beware warning.

I have been getting my hair cut here for almost a year now, and have been very pleased. Its a small place and everyone is very friendly, To start off they have a wonderful shampooist, Seth (Ive only had as good of shampoo at a salon in Chicago that cost $150). They spend plenty of time talking to you and looking at your hair to discuss a good style (and arent afraid to discourage you if it is something that wont be a good fit based on what you tell them--this is big for me--In the past I have many times want something a little more stylish, but dont have the time to actually do the styling it would require, so will end up not liking the cut--this hasnt happened there.) Ive always ended up liking the cut I get, and it only costs $30. Another big plus is, no matter how happy you are with the service, they will NOT ACCEPT tips. So you can count on a great full-service visit at a low price!

went there twice. first time was ok and i was relatively happy. this last time however, im not happy at all. the stylist did not listen to me. the male manager was rude and tried to talk me out of what i was feeling and the female manager was nicer, but still hasnt done what i asked. i understand that the stylist did work. im not arguing that, but the fact is Im still not happy and they did not do what I thought i had asked/agreed too. They probably also dont really know how to work with a younger crowd, everyone in there, aside from the receptionist was older than me. I will not be going back again, ever. If you want someone to do whatever they please to your hair, and charge you full price. then yeah, go. if you want someone to listen, do what you are asking, and walk out happy, i advise to NOT GO THERE.

I have been following the owner, Douglas Carl, for at least ten years from his place on Lake Union to Lake City to the owners current location in Lake Forest Park now called A Better Day Salon. I live in West Seattle and the 45-60 minute is well worth dealing with the traffic because Douglas is the only hair dresser who ever took the time to look at the texture of my hair and the shape of my face to develop a hairstyle that suites me perfectly. I always get the attention I need no matter how busy the salon is. Everyone is very friendly and the prices are great. The staff always aims to please. Try it. Youll like it.

The service was very good and the haircut was excellent. I mentioned somewhat jokingly to the woman who cut my hair that I needed to look really good because my husband was due back that evening after a long business trip. She did a great job, and as I left she smiled and said that she hoped that my husband would be pleased with the way I looked. Which he was. In summary, A Better Day Salon is conveniently located, has very good service, and well-trained and experienced hair stylists who take the time to figure out what you want.

Janice and Douglas’ Better Day Salon is a breath of fresh air. They have created a relaxing and quality Salon which fully meets my needs.You are always met with courtesy and warmth. Both my husband and I count on consistently great hair cuts. I have used their massage service and love it. Dion is low-key and can meet all my needs whether it be a sports injury or just relaxation. I also appreciate their wide selection of Aveda products. I used to shop around for my haircuts but now only go to A Better Day Salon.

I have been coming to Douglas to get my hair cut for over 25 years (since I was 7) and have always felt more like one of the family. I was very excited when he opened A Better Day Salon and couldnt have asked for better service. You are welcomed right when you come in and everyone there is so nice and very talented at what they do. I will never go anywhere else to get my hair done and highly recommend this place for anyone who wants wonderful service, top quality and reasonable prices. They are awesome!

The customer service is exceptional. My hair cuts always amazing! My daughter is now two and a half and they have always created a wonderful and relaxing experience for the both of us. She to now gets her haircut there. A wonderful place on earth to be for a better day indeed. Also, this is the only salon I have ever found with every single shade of o.p.i. polish that exists, providing a great way to satisfy and explore my colorful nail art expression needs . Ive been going to Douglas for haircuts for 30-some years and he does an awesome job on my thick, coarse, curly hair. His styling looks terrific from the day he cuts it til the day I come in for my next appointment. His wife Janiece is a fantastic colorist & I look waaaay younger than my years thanks to her talent. I also like their no tipping policy--the only tip they ask for is for us to tell our friends about A Better Day Salon. So go try them out--you wont regret it.

I love this salon. My mother is 91 years old and likes pedicures. This salon has chairs that are low and easy for her to get in. My mom also likes to get her hair done there because they do such a fabulous job. My mom is elderly but likes to be stylish. They do her pedicures and her hair cuts and sets and do a fabulous job. Plus they are so nice and so accommodating. I cant recommend them highly enough.

Ive been going for many years. In the past Ive been very fickle about my haircuts but Ive stayed because they are the best and give great head rubs and cuts. I also love the price includes tip and they wont take anything over. Im so happy for them that they are expanding. Keep up the good work and keep your personal touch and you will continue to have the success you deserve.
