He had me over a barrel once my old water heater had been removed, the new one was uninstalled, and he said, "it is going to be more expensive than the written estimate... but only by $60-$70 dollars." I asked if I really had a choice at this point, to which the plumber replied he could install it improperly and see how long it lasts. I agreed to go ahead with the proper procedure, and it was an additional $185. This, by the way, was over changing a size of pipe that the Aurora plumber had already seen and talked about... he had just forgot the $185 in the original estimate. He recorded it on the original copy I had signed, so it appeared I may have approved it initially. I also found it alarming that he hand wrote on that signed estimate, "Aurora Plumbing is not responsible for any drywall or panel repair to walls if needed." Upon inspection, I found the exhaust hole he cut for the pipe was much too big, crudely cut, and filled in with expanding foam instead of flashing that will keep the rain out. Now the signed document indicated that I approved of poor carpentry. I chose AP because of favorable reviews on Yelp, but I didnt appreciate the surprise price increase or altering of the signed document. It appears to be a quality job, but Im no expert. My advice: Once signing your original estimate, put an "X" across the blank part of the invoice so they cant add additional expenses once youve signed.

My garbage disposal got jammed and I called a few plumbers to see who wanted to take the job. Because Aurora Plumbing offered a free estimate, I decided to give it a chance, even though they made me wait for almost a week before showing up. They came and proceeded to write an estimate to attempt to unjam it (no guarantees, of course). The estimate was for more than $300 after tax. Since I can literally pay for a brand new one plus its installation for less than that (you can buy them at Lowes starting at $89), why should I pay over $300 just to unjam my old one? Also, heres the thing: I have lived in apartment complexes for the last 10 years and I know how long it takes for a plumber to unjam a disposal as this happens every once in a while when a glass breaks or something goes accidentally to the sink (between 5 to 20 min depending on how bad it was, and depending on whether they had to dismount it or not). Assuming this time it had taken 30 min, that would make their hourly rate about $600. Kind of pricey, if you ask me. Im sorry, but this is just not a great way to doing business.

I love these guys. Whats with all the hate? I am a DIY-er, so I cant speak to their service department, but the counter help is knowledgeable and helpful. Sure they cost more, but were not there to get the absolutely cheapest price on the absolutely cheapest made part, are we? Quality parts, professional counter help, excellent stock of hard to find items. Complain all you want about prices as you sip your $6 organic chai latte wandering through PCC considering which sustainably-sourced bamboo napkin rings offer free shipping. I will continue to support a local institution that provides a staff with answers and an actual showroom. P.S. Thanks for that replacement bath fan motor. It was pricy, but I was so glad I didnt have to guess about ordering the wrong thing online, or tear the ceiling out to replace the entire thing with a new piece of crap from a big-box.

Used to be a nice shop. Now its a criminal enterprise. Service department willfully attempts to defraud customers. Clogged drains turn into bogus big dollar projects repeatedly (see other reviews). Called to one of my rentals by tenant they failed to clear her drain, charged her 270+ dollars and claimed she needed to do a $5000 repair. The repair they suggested was to dig up a 3 deep side sewer pipe and replace 5 feet of it. This wasnt needed, and the projected charge is CRIMINAL. I used to love the old time feel of this shop and the knowledgeable counter people. New ownership take notice! If you want to try and save the rapidly nosediving reputation of your firm, fire the whole service department (at least the manager and drain people) and start over with plumbers that actually want to fix problems, not steal from innocent people.

Im a long time customer, but sadly I need to find a different plumbing company for the future. Still do great work, but its clear the bill is inflated and the goal is to do as much as possible to rack up $. I used to feel like the workers who came out to my house cared about keeping costs reasonable. Now I feel like its smile in your face & stick it to you however they can to rack up the charges. There must be a decent plumbing company in town that doesnt see their customers as fools to be had.

Tom was awesome! I brought in my leaky Price Pfister kitchen faucet that Id successfully fixed in the past, but was having trouble with this time around. He quickly figured out exactly what was wrong, showed me, and then fixed it for me for free. He even buffed off a rusty metal part that I had in my hand to take the rust off it. I was very appreciative of the service I got at Aurora!

Ryan and Deric showed up on time and were very thorough and knowledgeable and diagnosed my problem right away. My toilet had been marking a low humming noise for weeks and they said it just need a new fill tank. They offered a free sewer line check as well.. My toilet no longer hums and I would definitely use this company again

I found their prices for higher-end brands like Toto, Duravit, etc. to be only ~10% more than at online stores. But they provide real person customer service and local warranty. (Sales taxes is a whole different matter). For commodity parts, of course, one should go to "commodity" stores like the yellow/orange or while/blue...

Bid came in for $2,592.00 plus tax for 2 sink installations plus changing incoming connections. Called another plumber to see if that price was reasonable. Other bid, for same work, came in at $722.00 inclusive. Too bad Aurora Plumbing has changed! Ive used them for over 40 years, but something is wrong there now........

I have used Aurora plumbing twice. Both times their response was immediate, their work excellent and the technicians were very knowledgeable, especially CARL. I recommend them to anyone that needs any plumbing for their new construction or remodel and repair. I cannot thank them enough!

The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, although I got passed over somehow for someone 2nd in line. Ill let that one slide. The trouble with this place is the prices. They are high. I found the same item online for 33% less. However bought it at Aurora anyway because I needed it fast.
