the classes are expensive for very low quality. the instructors there get rotated so often that its hard to build a lasting relationship with them because they always seem unhappy and leave. then a new instructor comes in. most real mma schools have several qualified black belts that train in their specific style. what i mean is there will be at least 2 muay thai instructors and at least 2 judo instructors, 2 wrestling coaches and so on. at the lenderman academy theres one guy (sifu) who is supposed to know everything and teach everything which is impossible. there is no way he is qualified to teach all that encompasses mixed martial arts. then consider the fact that he has limited mobility because he had bad knees and then had a operation on both knees at the same time and against all the medical knowledge and years of education, he was walking on his recently operated knees way before he was supposed to. he never let them heal properly and he complains about them all the time. he dont teach many kick techniques because he cant kick because of his knees. I WISH I HAD KNOWN ABOUT SOME OF THIS STUFF BEFORE I WASTED MY MONEY. i would suggest looking for a place that has qualified BLACK BELT instructors. not just one guy trying to get paid. just another fyi if you are looking for high quality ju jitsu he only has a blue belt in ju jitsu so i dont even know how hes qualified to teach it.

My two sons and I learned a LOT in five years. I really like Sifu Cliff and feel he is worth five stars for all we learned. I am not sure who is there now or the value of what they teach. I only had one bad experience in all that time. Back in about 2000 I was about to take my black belt test finally. When I was in the ring with black belts Danny Allen and Don Moon (police officers) sparing before black belt testing, they busted my nose and bloodied my face right off and thought it was funny. So I cleaned up in the bathroom and climbed back in the ring. I was bigger than either of them at about 280lbs, I was angry and took it to them in a rush and they left the ring and cried to Sifu Cliff Lenderman. Well, I guess he was offended that I had been so aggressive with his Black Belt Buddies, but obviously did not know the story so he climbed in the ring and said "I guess you are ready for me." I think he was about 8th degree black belt at that time and in about 30 seconds he gave me an oblique kick that fractured three ribs. I was painful and took three months to heal up enough to work out again. My boys were upset that he had done that too and we just never went back. I think he should give me an honorary black belt for the years I put in at his academy, due to the level I had reached. If I could beat his two best black belts, I deserve it... but will not ask for it.

BEWARE!!! This place is not worth the time or money. i dont even know where to start. the owner and sifu there only went as far as blue belt in ju jitsu, to me that doesnt qualify you as being proficient enough to teach high level ju jitsu. Add to the fact that he took the classes a long time ago and theres no way he can remember everything. even if he did its only blue belt quality at best. The sifu there also doesnt seem to either have one foot out the door already because he promotes his photography career all during class and during the ceremonies. He interrupts people during the opening stretches all the way through class either walking around showing pics on his ipad or calling people over to him to show them pics on his ipad. he also turned the upstairs of his martial arts academy to a make shift photography studio. He also has said on may occasions that he cant handle the moist Washington State weather so he plans to move to new mexico within the next couple of year. and hes gonna teach his classes through skype. To me it doesnt seem like he fully invested in the martial arts anymore. he seems to focus more on other hobbies and that one of the reasons I feel this is one of the worst school. The sifu doesnt seem to care

My 2 daughters (ages 6 and 9) asked me to take them to an open house at Lenderman Academy because their friend invited them. We were welcomed with friendly, respectful staff and asked if my girls wanted to have free sessions with free uniforms to see if they liked it. They were immediately enthusiastic after the first session! Ever since they joined, I have seen their confidence level improve, their focus on schoolwork increase and all around manners and respect for others improve. If you have a kid that needs a little encouragement and discipline, Lenderman Academy is the PERFECT place to take them to. Sifu Lenderman is a highly respectable and caring master to ALL his students and treats all of them fair. His wife, Deb, takes care of all the office work and is just as caring and respectable to all the parents and students as well. Even every single one of Sifus instructors carry the same caring and respectful qualities as he does! Lenderman Academy is a 10 star academy and I highly recommend this place to everyone!

This place has made a huge impact on my children and as our family as a whole. I recommend it to anyone thinking about giving martial arts a try. My oldest son (of 2) that attends has made a 180 degree shift in his behavior. He has slowly and painfully grown into a respectful little boy that gives a Yes Mam or Yes Sir as an answer instead of the blah blah blah that we used to get. In addition to that, it is a family atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly, respectful, positive and helpful. I would recommend this school to anyone looking to train in Martial Arts and become more physically fit. I would recommend this school to parents that want their children to grow their leadership skills, train their body and grow in confidence and respect.

Ive been attending for over a year and really enjoy it. Sifu Lenderman has a nice blend of techniques from several martial arts that he incorporates into our curriculum. He also teaches life skills which are critically important to both children and adults, particularly this day in age. All the instructors are kind and willing to help you. My favorite part is the sparring we do on Tuesdays. It is a great way to bring up your cardio and work some techniques in a more realistic way. Everyone goes easy for safety, learning, and liabilitys sake and many times Id like to push it more but its probably better this way especially against opponents of differing skills, sizes, speeds, and strengths. Its a great place to train!

The instructors are excellent with the kids and the kids love them. The instructors will help the kids with any questions they have and help in any way they can. Unfortunately I cant say the same thing about the ownership. They have just insisted that the student sell popcorn as a fund raiser for the school, $65 minimum. If the students dont sell the minimum then things that were free in the past will now be charged for. I dont pay for my child to go there so they can then put her to work selling popcorn so the school can make capital improvement to the building.
