We hired Pertzborn to install some basic fixtures in a bathroom. Nice plumber, but we had issues with installation work. We provided the fixtures and they were willing to do the install and adjust related plumbing in the wall. They would not warranty the products of course, which we didn’t expect, because they didn’t provide them. Install of toilet was fine. Sink was installed with noticeable lean and they used white caulk fill seam along the wall when the fixture was is bone/light beige color. Plumber said he didn’t have right color with him when we asked the company about it after the install was done. We asked them to re-install/fix the installation. First, they complained about it not being their fixture, which has nothing to do with bad installation/the lean of the sink. Then they complained that the floor sloped to drain, which also has nothing to do with bad installation, especially since we had reviewed the slope of the floor with plumber when they first came out to scope the job and plumber said that slope was a non- issue/non-problem. Then, Pertzborn informed us that any additional visits or work to fix problem would be billed to us. I informed them that when contractors make a mistake, the contractor typically would fix the problem at their cost, not tell the customer that they will have to pay for fixing the poor workmanship. Ultimately, they re-installed the sink, and put correct color of caulk over the white caulk (now we have more caulk than what should normally be used). Also, we documented the arrival time and departure time for the plumber and felt they over-charged us by 1.5 hours (over the period of four or five visits) so we short-paid them on the final bill. Not a lot, but it mattered to us, especially considering the headaches we experienced, the unprofessional communication from the installation manager and company leadership, and the extra time we had to spend on emails and being at home to make sure they corrected their work (unwillingly). We requested the opportunity to come into their office and talk through our concerns about the billing. They responded with filing a lien against our home for the very small amount of money we short-paid them. Very bad experience with a company that is well-known in the Madison area. We would not recommend them to anyone based on the experience we had. We were completely shocked by the poor workmanship and unprofessionalism coming from Pertzborn staff and leadership.

I have had Pertzborn Plumbing at my home numerous times recently. I have called several times to speak with Steve regarding billing questions. He has always been patient and understanding with me and adjusted my bill according to issues I discussed with him. There arent a lot of companies that would do what he did for me because he felt it was the right thing to do. Steve is an awesome person and employee. I must also say as many times that different service techs have been here they are all outstanding and are truly a credit to their profession and to the company they work for. Tim was here most recently and is absolutely an asset to this company. I have had different employees at my home and everyone of them are exceptional in what they do. Everyone at Pertzborn from billing to the person that answers the phone when you call are the absolute best. There is a reason they have been in business as long as they have and I hope they stay in business for a long time to come. Always call PERTZBORN if you have any problems whatsoever. You will never be disappointed and will always be happy with the work results. Thank God for a business like this that puts customers, honesty, excellent service and integrity above all else, which is very hard to find in this day and age.

I called them after discovering a horrible smell coming from the bathroom and basement. Their office staff was cheerful and polite, and they put me in touch with the service department immediately. I was told someone would be by within a couple hours and that they would call before they headed out. Maybe 45 minutes later I got a courtesy call saying a plumber (I think Greg) was on his way. I was SO impressed already! Then he discovered that the smell was coming from a sewer pipe from a toilet that was removed during a foundation repair. The pipe was never properly capped, but Greg fixed it in ten minutes. No more smelly house! He answered some other questions I had about our fixer-upper and he was so nice with our dogs that I sent him off with a bag of homemade cookies. HJ Pertzborn was worth every penny, and now Im going to have them replace our water heater. SO impressed!

Pertzborn sent their plumber Grieg over to my house to take care of a bunch of odds and ends: replacing a laundry sink and its hookups/drain; relocating washing machine hookups; replacing a garbage disposal and sink strainer; installing a drinking water filter and a faucet and ice maker line from it; installing a hot/cold sill cock; and repairing a leaking faucet and toilet. That laundry list started out small when Grieg arrived, but grew as I thought "well since I have a plumber here..." Everything was taken care of wonderfully and Grieg was more than accommodating. I cant find a single thing to complain about. If I need a plumber again I will be going with Pertzborn. Workmanship was excellent.

THE WORST COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. making financial judgement denying service not even knowing what we even bring in a month!!!! they told me one thing for a "cc deposit?" since we were new customers. was called back later that day, to be told my cc didnt go through as they were trying to charge more than what I was told initially. and then when i call back to pay that deposit of $100 (for the new cx deposit) the next day, i was told they dont want to service us as they have no guarantee we would pay them?!!! WTF.. customer service accountant LORI was rude and dismissive out of Madison Wisconsin. and amy in service tells you the deposit will be one charge and found out it was double the amount.

These guys are awesome. I just had my 2nd experience with Pertzborn, and it was as excellent as the first; I now will use no other plumber because their customer service and expertise is so top notch. A previous plumber botched an earlier job. By contrast, Pertzborn was highly efficient, skilled, clearly explained the issues - and beautifully took care of it. I also appreciate that they have several plumbers - so they can usually send someone out soon. Finally, they explained the billing/charges up front when I first called, so there were no surprises. Icing on the cake: each person I dealt with was super friendly and professional. Great stuff!

Used twice recently--replace a kitchen faucet and put in a filtration system. First time Ive used Pertzborn and will use again. Had Scott the first time and requested him for the second visit. Took the time to explain what he was doing, and did a few things to make his installs to his liking--ie added a couple valves where we didnt have any, replaced another valve with something that is better. Bottom line is I felt very confidant he gave us the best installs with the best connections--clearly felt strongly about doing the job right, not just getting it done.
