I got a facial at Studio 924. On their website they advertise facials that include extractions and exfoliation, which is what I wanted since I have severe acne. When I got to the salon I was told that they dont actually do extractions and that they dont know why that is on their web site. Its pretty standard for an acne facial to include exfoliation (at the very least) and extractions when they are needed. There wasnt even an exfoliating cleanser that was used during the facial and some of the stuff that was put on my face was very oily. Not helpful when oil makes you break out. Also, the "Pure Focus" facial was advertised at $50 dollars, but they actually charged me $70 dollars. The only plus side was that the woman who did my facial was very nice and EXCELLENT at massage. I think that she did a good job, but it simply wasnt what I was looking for. If you are looking for a fufu facial for relaxation, then it was a pretty good. If you have actual skin problems and need a skincare specialist to help you improve your complexion, go somewhere else. I have a newborn at home and havent had a chance to have any me time for a while, so I was really looking forward to this facial. It was an extremely disappointing experience since the facial wasnt what was advertised AND it was more expensive than advertised. I must say that I got my brows waxed too and I am VERY happy with the result. I will probably go back to get my brows waxed again and I would go there for a haircut, but I will go somewhere else for the facial.

I have been going to Studio 924 for about a year now, receiving regular cuts and color, and I have been very pleased with the service I have gotten. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The space is a little cramped, but it works. Jen has been doing my hair since my very first appointment and I would definitely recommend her to anyone. I have short hair (chin-length), and everytime, with the exception of once, I have really enjoyed the way she cut and colored it. The cons are few- the place is rather pricey ($50 for a trim!). Also every single time I have gone there, they always double book the stylist. So while my color is setting, the stylist will work on another customer. I always see other customers getting hand massages while they wait, but I have NEVER gotten one, nor has anyone ever offered me one. I have also only gotten a head massage twice since Ive started going there. This is unfortunate because I expect to get great service when Im paying that price. Other than that, I am very pleased with the salon and my stylist. I would recommend going during a time that isnt so busy though.

this was my first hair cut since i had my baby. i was hoping for a relaxing hour while my son was with his grandma but instead i got the complete opposite. i arrived at 1130 for my appointment and was told my stylist would be with me shortly. after ten minutes the front desk admitted my stylist had not arrived to work yet, and was on her way. she was really apologetic but mentioned she was "new" which made me nervous for her to cut my hair! none the less i waited. after a half hour she finally showed up, when back into the studio and another 5 minutes later came and asked me if i was ready. within 5 minutes she told me she was having a frantic week and was stressed because her boyfriend was getting major surgery tomorrow. throughout the haircut she talked about this, and at one point apologized "if her breathe stank". she did smell like she had rolled out of bed. the salon gave me my haircut free and the cut itself seemed average, but the stylist Alia was completely unprofessional and truly made what was suppose to be a nice treat for myself a stressful and uncomfortable experience.

Ive been going to Studio 924 for a couple years now for eyebrow waxing and haircuts. When they have done shorter cuts for me, they have turned out really well. I am currently in the process of growing my hair out now, though, and they dont seem to know what to do with it. They are completely competent in terms of trimming it and putting in a few layers, but Ive never been happy with the way they style my long hair. It always ends up loaded up with products and it looks frizzy and cowlick-y. I know that they are an Aveda salon, but I do not need an entire bottle of Aveda products in my hair! For being one of the more expensive places in Madison, I feel that I should be able to walk out of there with well-styled hair after a haircut, especially when I can easily do a better job than they do by myself. Not sure if I will be going back another time.

I went in for a cut and perm. The cut was fine, but Jody, the stylist either didnt wash the chemicals out well enough or left them on too long and I had bald spots where ever she parted my hair. All over my head basically like a human doll. Its been seven months and still where there was no hair that day there is only little tiny blonde wont grow out hairs that stay a millimeter or two. This is after thousands of dollars of chinese herbs acupuncture trying oil treatments. My hair may never be the same. Dont let anyone at this salon do chemical treatments on your hair color or otherwise. They refunded me for the perm but wouldnt refund me for the cut, even though I ended up shaving my head because of the bald spots.

I needed a cut and color before an interview and they were able to squeeze me in there schedule luckily. The place has a unique atmosphere with how you step down from the receptionist area to the mosaique tile walls to the stylist chairs. I was really nervous practicing for my interview so my stylist was trying to talk to me settle my nerves so to speak. She gave me the exact cut that I had been looking for with the vibrant color that I had been wanting. She did a fabulous job on my hair. I wish I remembered her name so I could recommend her but I can at least say Studio 924 is a wonderful place to go and I strongly recommend it! They even sent me off with some Aveda samples for my hair!

Pricey! I was at studio 924 a few weekends back for a wedding. $45.00 for a style job! All she did was curl it with a regular curling iron, hairspray and two bobby pins. With my extra reluctant $5.00 tip (not the stylist fault they charge so much I thought) it was quite an expensive beginning to my day. I even mentioned the price seemed high but they didn’t offer any relief or explanation. Another bridesmaid wanted a style with a braid and they had to find a staff that knew how to braid…strange. Seek elsewhere for a wedding. I must say other staff was quite nice finding me a place to feed and change my baby; and the bride looked radiant as she should. So it was not all bad.

Ive had my hair cut there twice now. The first was just a standard shortening that was done nicely. The second was a more daring cut, taking nearly six inches off to get a cute pixie cut. I was worried - it could have turned out horribly - but Kate did an AMAZING job. Im so impressed and theyve sealed themselves as the go-to place for hair in Madison. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a bowl of Jolly Ranchers makes this an excellent hair salon. Their prices are respectable, too. Ive been to aveda salons that charge $10-$15 dollars more for a womens hair cut than Studio924. Awesome place!
