our hot water went out and had no clue why. we had some so called heating and cooling guys from craigslist who both had a bad attitude and both were clueless to why the unit wasnt firing up. but wanted hundreds of dollars to replace parts. We then came across KNAUER HEATING AND PLUMBING on a google search and called them. The lady who answered our call was very polite and was eager to help us. she said no one was able to come out until tomorrow at 830am. when we told her we been without hot water for 4 days, she went above and beyond and arranged for someone to come out immediately and did not charge us a emergency service fee. A gentleman by the name of Sebastian Bellante who was clearly a professional whiten this field arrived just 20 min later. As soon as Sabastian entered the area he told me the first problem was that, the other so called craigslist professionals was trying to start up the wrong hot water tank. After only 5 min of inspecting the correct water tank. Sabastian successfully diagnosed the problem. I highly recommend this company and the staff to whom ever is in need of a heating and cooling professional. they are professional, eager to help you , experienced and very knowledgeable in the different units and trouble shooting. They were also very reasonable cost wise considering that they are a true professional heating and cooling service provider

During a home purchase, our inspection revealed a faulty expansion tank on the furnace. We wrote into our purchase agreement that the seller would fix the expansion tank. The sellers had Knauer come out and do an inspection on the expansion tank. They insisted that it was working fine, but they replaced the relief valve and a temperature gauge and charged the sellers for it. We called and raised the issue with them, making sure they knew it was the expansion tank we were talking about. Ultimately they signed on the company letterhead that the expansion tank was fine, so we had no further recourse. As soon as we moved in, it turned out that the expansion tank was NOT OK!! Their service guy, Kevin, came out and now and said that it needed to be replaced. He said it would cost less than $500 to replace it, as he had done one just yesterday. Finally we got the quote from Knauer and they wanted $1130 to do the work! "To be generous" she agreed to take $300 off that, still bringing it in over what Kevin quoted us! Not to mention that this is work for which they legally signed off--claimed that it did not need to be done, and therefore enabled the purchase to go through without the sellers covering it. Cheryl Knauer, the president hung up on me after yelling "sue me!" This is a terrible company who wont stand by their work or their word

They overcharged my widowed mother by over three times for a six foot water line that went to her new refrigerator. They charged more than the refrigerator cost. All while KNOWING that an elderly woman would have little knowledge or recourse. According to the blathering person identifying as the owner on the phone, he did this on purpose to get back at my family for personal reasons. Then the owner changed his, story stating that he did a lot of extra work, none of which is explained or itemized on their laughable invoice, not even a breakdown on labor or materials. Labor by the way is billed by Knauer at $140 an hour in this instance, he also explained. One of the highest rates charged throughout the entire residential plumbing industry. Even at that exorbitant rate is would have taken Knauer 4-5 hours of labor to complete a job that we were billed for. Well, Im her son, and a Contractor, and find Knauer Plumbings actions to be predatory and pathetic at the same time. Perhaps one day they will justify their erroneous/ fraudulent billing and make light of the tragic plight they endure ripping off the elderly for personal vendettas. Last time I installed a refrigerator water line it took less than 30 minutes, and materials were less than $50. I look forward to their response on public record.

I will start with: I did not use this company for service. I did, however, get an estimate from them. I am rating them 2 stars because the person who inspected didnt even look at anything closely. He just took my input and assumed I knew what I was talking about. Note: I am not a plumber so how would I know what is wrong. I had an issue with the hot water pressure to my kitchen sink and basement utility sink. The estimate said I would need the pipes leading to that to be replaced. They quoted me for 940 dollars total. Flash forward and I got a second opinion. Turns out the aerator was the issue on the utility sink. How do you not check the aerator if you are a plumber? Thats the most common issue. Anyways, the work on the pipes still needs to be done, but I have a different professional coming in for half the cost now. Im giving them 3 stars still, because the women on the phone were nice and I didnt get any work from them to know what kind of job they do. Always get multiple bids when hiring contractors. Dont always take the lowest bid, but definitely use logic in picking workers.

I recently used Knauer Plumbing. After Shopping around I found them to be nearly half of what some other plumbing companies were quoting me. The plumber showed up on time, was very friendly and insisted on wearing shoe coverings after I told him he didnt have to. He showed great care in his work and did so in a timely manner. They even did a return trip to help resolve some shower trim kit issues I was having free of charge. The plumber also helped me increase my kitchen sink water pressure when I asked him to look at it which was completely unrelated to any work that they preformed. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others!

I live two blocks from their office in Shorewood and was charged a $39 trip fee. To clean and inspect my boiler was $264.00 I had it cleaned and inspected one year later from a different service as the price was $115.00 and the technician said the pilot and all of the burners was clogged and crudded and had not been cleaned in over 10 years. I bought the house from a family that used Knauer for maintenance and cleaning for over ten years, so I continued using them. They never cleaned it and overcharged me. They are horrible!!

I called late on a Friday afternoon because my furnace wasnt working. I spoke with the owner who assured me that she could get a tech out within the hour. He showed up in 30 minutes. Yay me. He was able to diagnose and repair the problem with my furnace within the hour and I was heated and happy. I feel that the professional service I received was worth every penny. I am a believer in you get what you pay for! Thanks Kevin and Knauer Plumbing and Heating. See you in a few months for my air conditioner tune up

I cannot remember a time when our family has not depended on The Knauer Family for the handling of our plumbing and heating/cooling needs. We have found them to be always extremely dependable, knowledgeable, efficient, honest, and friendly. To the best of my knowledge there has never been an incident when we were disappointed. Their countless years in business in serving the community should speak for itself.
