This office likes to say "please hold" and hang up the phone. They protect letter carriers who threaten pets which are securely fenced in over 75 feet away from where they should be anyway, just before your pet mysteriously turns up dead from "respiratory distress." This office also protects carriers who take the contents out of the package, only delivering the box, with no stamp on it saying "received damaged" per the postal regulations. Further, they protect carriers who THROW packages at least 12 feet, which are marked "Fragile" just so they dont have to walk up stairs (that the postmaster of the Bessemer Post Office counted, and okayed). They also protect carriers who leave your packages containing electronics out in the rain, rather than delivering to the previously agreed upon location, as per the discussion with the postmaster of the Bessemer Post Office. When confronted, the postmaster of the Bessemer Post Office said basically I cant expect any action, changes, or reassignment of mail carrier, because the Post Office Union would prevent it, essentially telling me that I am wasting my time, even though there have been major problems time and again with this particular office. Customer Relations at this office had referred me to another postmaster (Wilcher), who promised call backs now 3 times. First two, he promised to call me, but never called. The third, he promised his boss over district 2 was going to call. No call occurred. I called the number that Customer Relations gave me, and when I explained Ive been not getting anywhere, that Im not asking for anything outside of postal regulations, this CLERK snapped at me for it. Great way to treat people. Mind you, I have a pan/tilt/zoom camera on the way, outdoor mountable. The next time I catch my postal carrier doing crazy crap, it WILL be on Youtube, and in the local news shortly thereafter. Im tired of this.

This post office has the rudest staff. It is my least favorite office in Birmingham, but I have to use it a lot because it is open the latest. Literally the staff will make comments out loud when people come in 10-15 minutes before closing. One particular time I came in and asked a lady, who was in the lobby, where to put my packages and she ignored me three times. Then when she was walking away and had no choice but to pass me, I asked her name so I could call her office and refer to her..... Suddenly she heard me and didnt tell me her name, but told me where to put the packages (so I know she heard me asking)

The bulk mail receiver totally ignores you as if you dont exist after plainly looking at you after your introduction so you know that she heard you but just isnt going to acknowledge you with any communication. You are nothing! Like most lately.. They are in charge! They are in control! No matter your appointments or schedules set by the US Postal Service. *So in short the one I dealt with this morning sucked as a human and I hope she has a week of Mondays!!!

Mentally ill woman working as a clerk. White lady with glasses. Seriously, something is wrong with her. Shes not healthy. Shouldnt be able to interact with other humans. She needs therapy, or pills, or both. Completely incompetent and unable to communicate on a basic level. Psychotic. Rude. Other ladies that helped me were nice, but this one needs to go! Use other shipping services or at least stay away from this location.

Customer service is awful. I called the downtown main office number to find out when the last time is for pick-up of mail in the post office boxes outside the main office. The lady could not answer my question. She transferred me to another number, and no one ever picked up. Called back again and got the same girl. She said she tried to call someone at the front desk to get an answer, and no one answered for her either.

Mixed review.... Ive had 2 pleasant associates help me, but the last time nothing came from the case and I lost money. This time, I feel it will be the same way. They have lost 2 of my packages manually" scanning them and this is hurting my ebay business. Maybe, I dont know, SCAN THEM THEN KEEP SENDING THEM? This is becoming more common and its just annoying.

I had my passport renewed here. I didnt wait very long at all, and the staff was very helpful answering all of my questions and helped the process go much more smoothly than expected. Its one of two post offices in the greater Birmingham area that dont require an appointment for passports so thats nice. Pleasantly surprised at how simple it was.

I went to get my passport renewed and was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly it went. The employee that handled my application was friendly, competent, and helpful. I had to wait a while in a rather small waiting room, but the long wait was due to problems in one of the applicants ahead of me and not the fault of the employees.

I would rate customer service at 0 if possible. Ive called at least 20 times over three days and got nothing but a recorded voice telling ,me that no one is available to take the call. I wish theyd disband the whole system and turn it over to private enterprise. They constantly screw up and try to blame the customer.

This is a pretty big post office. Everyone with whom I have interacted in the past have seemed rushed (I mean they are government employees, overworked and underpaid, and the customers are always trying to rush them even more) but since I was polite to them, they were polite to me. I liked them.

Ive had a PO Box here for 4 years and use this post office primarily for my business. Ive always had a pleasurable experience with the staff. I like the fact that they stay open late. Parking there is a bit of a hassle if you go during peak hours 8-5pm but other than that, its ok.

I use this post office frequently to drop off my online business packages. Staff is helpful, friendly, smiles. However, I wish that there was not panhandles out front- not always, but enough to make me uncomfortable. Second fave post office next to Bluff Park- who are the best!

POSTAL SERVICE RECENTLY LOST A PKG, OF INCALCULABLE SENTIMENTAL VALUE. THE COUSIN IT WAS [TO BE] SENT TO HAS SINCE PASSED AWAY. NO WAY TO REPLACE A PRIZED FAMILY MOMENTO, NOR FOR HIM TO ENJOY USING FOR HIS FINAL FEW WEEKS OF LIFE. AT FIRST, REALLLLY ANGRY; NOW, JUST SAD.

There was a free standing kiosk to help with smaller needs like stamps and pre done packages. The person there was very helpful and nice. He also showed me the automated machines for after hour use. Overall it took me about three minutes to do everything.

Always great service even when they are working with less people. And no they dont work for the government and they are not underpaid. Postal workers are paid extremely well.
