When I entered Menke Funeral Home a week ago and Duane came out to meet me, it just was right. I had visited several funeral homes but none of them "spoke" to me the way they did. No pressure what so ever.He showed me what was available and the services they could provide for me. All very respectful and courteous. Duane took care of everything and it was a smooth transaction in a ver difficult time for me. Yesterday we held my husbands celebration of life and it went dignified, the flowers were set up beautiful, the clergyman Tom Duane recommended was excellent. Duane recommended a gentleman named Tim Aulger, and he is a person that made a film of Marinus life .He interviewed our family and friends about how Marinus was as a person, how he went through his life impacting other people. It was wonderful and a rare opportunity to being able to have a celebration of his life, without, when you watch it, the sadness we feel of loosing him. I can send this movie to our family in Holland, and they can watch his final service from the other side of the ocean. It was a dignified experience, from the moment I entered Menke funeral home, untill the moment all was done. Thank you Duane, thank you Peder, and thank you to all their staff that made it happen. Make sure you have a very fast car when it comes time to follow the hearse to the graveyard. The hearse driver on the day of my mothers funeral service took off down Loop 101 heading to the National Memorial Cemetery going so fast, it was all we could do to keep it in sight. The funeral procession was strung out God only knows how far, and I was driving the first car behind it with my father going 80 mph and could barely keep up. I wish I had just let it go, but didnt know the way to the cemetery at the time. Maybe the driver had a hot date later that he wanted to get to so he was in a hurry? I wish I had complained to Menke at the time, but didnt since it was done. Their services were fine, but they apparently dont expend much effort in hiring their help.

I would highly recommend this funeral home. I have had several family members pass away and always used this place. I recently used them again with my aunt and everyone was very kind and sincere. Peder and Leo went out of their way to make this experience less painful. This passing was complicated because not only were services planned for Sun City, but also Chicago. The staff took care of everything - all the details were confirmed with grace and dignity. I truly appreciate your helpfulness and support-again!

Professional, personal, kind, caring....we never felt rushed, they gave us all the time we needed, they stayed out of our way but were available should we need the slightest thing. Everything was taken care of, every need anticipated. It does not get better than that. They also donated a tree to be planted in our mothers name. In 2016, its refreshing to find a business like this that does what they say and does it with class, professionalism, and kindness. I cannot recommend them enough.

There are not enough words to express our gratitude to Menke Funeral Home. Burying ones child is the most difficult thing a parent will ever endure. Peder Strang made everything easier. He answered every question I had as if he knew I was going to ask it. He treated our family as his family. I couldnt be more thankful for him. When needed again, I wont go anywhere else.
