Unfortunately my experience with Resthaven was bad from the beginning. My very good friend had a contract with monthly payments for 5 years. After her death I attempted to cancel the contract because her grandson from Florida wanted to make different arrangements. He had been out of touch when the contract was signed. I was told her grandson had to fax a note to have the contract cancelled. This was done and still the monthly payments were deducted from her bank account. The entire experience with the management of Resthaven was a nightmare and they showed no empathy for what the grieving family and friends were going through. The last contact with them involved getting a notarized letter from her grandson cancelling the contract. Only then would they refund one monthly payment and not the deposit because that was "equity" for future use. They have very poor business ethics and should never be recommended.

I worked for West Resthaven for about 2 1/2 months as a Family Services Counselor, and went out on a medical. My primary care physician was not going to release me to return to work until having certain lab results came back, and when I was released to come back to work I notified my supervisor that I would be back to work the day after Memorial Day. I had also kept the supervisor informed the entire time I was off work regarding my status. I was off work approximately 3 weeks. I was never contacted by anyone at the facility one way or the other, and when I returned to work, the first thing my supervisor said to me was, "did you get the letter?" Apparently he mailed me a termination letter via registered mail and I had not received it until the afternoon of the day I returned to work.

Horrible! My father passed away, and we consulted with west resthaven, but ended up going with another home instead. I personally called the funeral arranger at west resthaven to let him know we were not using his services, the next day we find out that west resthaven took my fathers body without permission well after I told the home my family wasn't using them. This tied up the funeral another day.the competing home explained to me that this is not uncommon at all, stating that this practice is used to strong arm people into using west resthaven and funeral home instead of the competition.

I have never experienced a funeral home that forget to mention details about arrangements till after you are stuck with a contract. They infomred us the grass would be green all year long and as we pass by and visit it is all dead grass. While we were in the office to talk about arrangements front office was talking to each other more then us and we have to wait a while to be attened to. They dont get back to you when they say they will call. They just seem to have no sympathy what so ever and should not asume that everyone knows what to ask for when they are about to lie to rest a loved one.

My mother in law bought a plan from this funeral home many years ago, it included a voucher to help with the cost of her funeral.West Resthaven refused to honor this voucher.West Resthaven Funeral Home you are a rip off and I will tell everyone I know about this.
