I went in for the first time for a cut and color due to a friends recommendation and was so disappointed (understatement) with both. I spent way too much money to come out with my hair looking the exact same before I went in. She put in enough foils to highlight 3 peoples hair but somehow the color came out the exact same. As for the cut, my hair was so fried at the ends from not being cut in a while and naturally having dry hair that I needed at least an inch off. Any other salon/stylist would argue Id probably need at least two but she said no, Id go half an inch at the most. After the color was washed out she cut literally two pieces of hair. Two pieces. She didnt even trim all the ends or anything. She picked up two pieces, cut them and left the rest in its fried, gross state. I was so confused. It was like they picked up some random person and asked them to work in their salon for the day. Then she took a razor to my layers and bangs and my hair is even more thin now than it was. After the "cut" was done, she was going to straighten it to style it. My hair is naturally pretty straight to begin with so it doesnt take much to keep it that way. She sprayed hairspray all over my hair and straightened over the hairspray. Someone correct me if Im wrong but I have never, ever seen or heard of any professional stylist doing that, especially to someone who already has straight hair. Usually you leave a salon feeling good about yourself and happy that your hair is done but I left, cried that Id wasted so much money only to have it redone the next week and went home to wash all of the hairspray and 3 other products she put in out of it. You may be wondering why I didnt say something and ask her to correct it but at that point, I just wanted to get out of there and not make it any worse. The cherry on top of this was when I asked where she went to beauty school. She just said shed been doing hair since kindergarten and had practiced a lot on her barbies. No joke. And by that time, half my head had foils in and it was too late to go back.

I went in for a hair cut for the first time and for the price I was expecting it to be a nice place with professionals[because of the price range]. The place was very small and as soon as I pulled up something was just telling me to drive away.Inside they had a small little couch and a couple chairs for people to wait on. I sat down in the crowded little spot and then soon realized everyone sitting there with me was the staff. Pretty unprofessional for the staff and manager just to sit there, taking up all the seats and just stare at the only customer. As for the hair cut she really messed up big time. Cut it way way way to short. The way she was handling the scissors made me worried the moment she started cutting. It was just a hack job. Luckily my hair grows really fast....Another person came in for a haircut and the hair dresser answered her CELL PHONE and started talking while cutting his hair, very unprofessional, a first time sight for me. My hair dresser then dropped her scissors and started to use them before I said stop. First time ever to ever get a hair cut where the person drops the scissors on the dirty ground and doesnt use a new clean pair. The whole place was just a mess. Everyone seemed nice but the hair dressers obviously had no idea what they were doing. Way overpriced, especially for the hack job I received. I thought this place was going to be nice, especially for the price, but it is on the level of Super Cuts. The haircuts are way way over priced for the quality of hair dressers. Rating: 1 star - Poor [Not sure how long this place will last with overpriced bad haircuts]

The business of hair and beauty runs strong in my family. My mom is a hairstylist/barber along with my step sister, two cousins, and several of my best friends. But living far away from home, and not wanting to buy a plane ticket home for hair, I needed to look elsewhere for a stylist/salon... and although initially nervous, so very happy I found Grooming Humans! Prices are fair, and the staff is attentive, talented, and on trend. I have to give a personal shout out to Scarlett who took the patience and time to listen, transform, and produce an amazing new color and cut without taking the shortcuts. If you watch her work, she colors like a true artist and painter... you should ask her about her art! And also kudos to Holli for stepping in and helping when my processing was taking longer than expected. I finally feel home away from home when it comes to getting my hair done. Thank you Grooming Humans for the new do, I think Im a new regular. (Sorry mom.)

Love, love, love. I cannot say too many good things about Grooming Humans. In particular Carly. I have to explain that I am extremely particular about my hair. I described what color I wanted and Carly special mixed it then she took time and talked to me about my hair. Not just “how do you want it cut” but she took time to really understand what I expected from a haircut and went above and beyond. The color was perfect, the cut was perfect and Carly is super fun. There was one gal there who seemed disenchanted and was late for my friend’s (who I brought with me) appointment and I wish I could remember her name but she was moping around, on her phone, and didn’t smile once for the 4 hours I was there. HOWEVER the other 4 girls and Carly are awesome. If you need a haircut and are in Tempe go here.

I had the BEST experience at this salon. I dont think I have ever felt more comfortable with my stylist and the environment. I read the website before calling to schedule my appointment for a cut and color, and every stylist there sounded amazing. They asked if I had a specific stylist in mind and I told them they all sounded awesome. I really lucked out when I arrived and was introduced to Dina :) She listened to what I wanted and what do you know? I GOT EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR! Her talent is off the charts, she takes her time, and makes you feel human not like a paycheck or a tip. All the stylists there were super friendly and easy to talk to, I cant wait to go back! I would recommend this salon to anyone who has ever been nervous when it comes to new people doing their hair!!

Ive been a client of Grooming Humans for a long time, and all of the stylists there are very good! I have recommended several friends and they are now long term clients as well. True, the shop is small and there isnt much of a waiting area, but it is very convenient to ASU and the staff does their best to get you set up with a good parking spot and Ive never had to wait when I had an appointment. I recommend GH to anyone looking for great salon results with a less hefty price than the places with huge overhead costs.
