We have had our things in two storage units here for over ten years. We have always paid our bill on time, paying for both units in one check. All of a sudden we got a phone call saying we were behind in payments on one unit. I told the person on the phone that I had the cancelled check information and they must have made a mistake. It never dawned on me that they wouldnt go back and check their records and correct the mistake. Then I got a phone call saying they had put a lien on one of my units! I was told "Its on the paper here" -- the implication being that it must be true. This was on a Friday afternoon, but the person I needed to talk to would not be there until Monday. I took all my records in on Monday and talked to this person who took a very long time messing around on the computer before he made the corrections. He assured me everything was now fine. On the next Saturday I got a paper in the mail saying that a lien had been put on my things. It had been mailed on the Thursday after I talked to the man on Monday. When I went down to talk to them I was told that they "just put the papers in there for a while and then mailed them." This is no way to run a business. I have a small business. When my records show someone has not paid, I first go through my own records to make sure I didnt forget to check the payment in before putting it in the bank before I speak to the client. Golden Bear needs to learn better business practices.

As the cop who the crazy Golden Bear Storage lady tried to get to arrest me said, "youre better off just leaving than dealing with someone who acts like this over a chicken*&#% offense." So you are better off just storing somewhere else. I chose Golden Bear because it is right across the street from my house. I had 3/4 of my two bedroom moved in when I needed some heavy lifting, so I brought two carts across the street to move the washer and dryer. Ten minutes later I was back and the office lady had called the cops. She knew I lived across the street, yet called the cops on my and threatened to press charges for theft when the cop arrived. She evicted me on the spot for taking her carts across the street for ten minutes and then returned. So she gave me four hours to move all of my stuff somewhere else. I had to rent a truck to move three more blocks down and it took myself and four friends six hours to make the move when I was only an hour away from being done. The office lady is totally unreasonable and power tripped on me, wasting my entire day, making me move twice at the end of a very long day under the threat of pressing charges for theft.

If your things are in a unit at Golden Bear Storage, dont assume theyll stay dry. If I could give this place less stars I would. I returned to my storage unit after 7 months to find all my belongings had been rained on. Yes, my mattress, boxes, electronics were all wet because of a leak in the roof. Management informed me immediately that they were not liable, because of a clause in the contract that indemnified them from natural disasters. They wouldnt refund my storage costs or help the defray the costs of replacing my things. It gets worse. I had renters insurance and insurance agreed to cover the costs of replacing my things if the storage company could confirm that it was a a natural disaster rather than pure negligence on the part of the owners that had caused the leak in the roof. 2 months later, management has still not bothered to send a roofer to look at the roof. If your things are in a unit at Golden Bear Storage, dont assume theyll stay dry.

Strange people. Very strange people. I had a P.O. Box here. My mail started to not show up, so I left completely. Then some homeless people started hanging around my neighborhood, and while we were talking, a guy who had asked me for help let it slip that he knows I have a certain amount in my account. Druggies.

Been storing my extra stuff here for at least 10 years, and even upgraded in size, and the price is really reasonable for the area. They have always been very helpful and accommodating. Really easy access until 5 every day, with plenty of carts available. Clean and secure.

Incompetant & Funky Managment of a Leaking Mess. Absolutely the WORST!!! Almost NO Security. It has multiple break ins. Check with BPD. Golden Bear Storage is a complete MESS!!

The location is slightly closer than other storage places but the rude lady who manages Golden Bear will make you regret not going a few extra blocks to anyplace else.
