I recently went to this auto repair place because its close to my house and of the good reviews. After my experiance, I feel I have to share this info with others so that they might get dupped too. These ppls claim free estimates but they charged me nearly around $20 for one! Then, they claim my 06 camry needed a new motor fan...2 motor fans at that, when I know for a fact that 1 of the motor fans were recently changed to a new one. Over $350 for that! Then, they said I needed new brakes, etc etc etc. I honestly suspect that these people were trying to take advantage of me because I am a woman. Little do they know that my father is a professional mechanic with 30+ years of experiance and he taught me a thing or two! I highly suggest you do not visit this shop. I find them to be shaddy. They are super friendly which gives you the illusion of a "good mechanic". When youre paying for their services, you dont think much of it, but once you get home you start to think, "I paid HOW MUCH for an oil change?!" I ended up paying for the free estimate and over $60 for an oil change. Female consumers be wary!

Ive been going here for years. I really appreciate the service, especially how Mel and his son will go out of their way to help you. Last time I was in, I suspected a bad battery. I arrived without an appointment late in the day, and understandably was quoted a few hours until they could work on the car. I had an appointment I had to get to, so I decided to bring it in the following day instead. Mels son (whose name I cannot remember) was concerned I would not be able to start the car, so he stopped what he was doing to test my battery. While he did that, he warned me about the battery vendor refusing to honor the warranty unless you had the printout of a specific battery test , which he gave me in case it needed replacing. Turned out the battery was fine--and he did not charge me for going out of his way to provide peace of mind! All the years Ive been going here, not once has Mel or his son treated me like I was stupid because I am a woman (which Ive experienced at other auto service places). They always are very clear and explain their repairs throughly. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I took my car here because it had a random/multiple misfire. It would barely drive. I tried swapping out all the parts I could but couldnt solve the problem. I took my car here and requested a full diagnostic--compression check, fuel injection check, exhaust, etc. They told me my car was fine, but that the computer needed to be calibrated at the dealer. Keep in mind this car is 18 yrs old. Over $100 spent. Took my car to the dealer, and they would not calibrate the computer without first doing their own full diagnostic check. Over $100+ later the dealer told me my motor was bad...and the exhaust system was clogged due to catalytic converter failure. Not knowing who to believe, I learned how to do a compression check on my own by borrowing the tester from the local auto parts store. My motor was, in fact, bad. These people told me they did a compression check! They either lied or are incompetent.

I have been using Chatsworth Auto for over 10 years for service on all my cars. Ive always found them to be honest and up-front, letting me know in advance of possible issues and best corrective actions to take. Some think they are too expensive but their attention to details has saved me a ton of money over the years. Their mechanics are all certified to work on every vehicle. They willl go out of their way to show and explain how your auto works. I just cant say enough about how much I trust these guys! ...Dennis B.

Frankly, Ive been going to them for years with my Jeep. I never had a problem. Always was surprised how reasonable their costs were compared to the dealer. I was appalled to read the review implying that this shop was sexist. Yes, Im a man, but cant believe that any woman would jump to this conclusion. My wife never got this impression when interacting with the staff without my presence.

I wanted others to know what good service I have had at Chatsworth Auto Repair in Chatsworth, CA. It is a family owned business that attempts to provide good service. They are friendly and seem concerned regarding your car. If you want good service and good repair resullts, thls is the place to go.
