I was very disappointed with my experience. This location used to be the Heinz Gietz Autohaus/Mercedes who took excellent care of our cars. I thought I would give the New Family Auto Service a try with my sons 2002 BMW since it would be right around the corner and he will need a reliable auto shop that charged honest prices since he is a college student. I assumed my current BMW dealership (I own a 2014 BMW) service would be more expensive. Ian gave me a quote of $1,100 to fix the presenting problem of needing a new clutch for the vehicle. I agreed over the phone. The next day, after inspecting the vehicle, he said it needed new brake pads, which it did and we agreed to $600. They kept the car for several days and on the day it was to be picked up, Ian mentioned that he "just noticed" a suspension problem that needed attention that would be another $1,000. I declined on the suspension repair and was ready to pick up the car. The total bill was $115 for the diagnostics and then $2,800. For the repairs, which was over $1,000 more that I was told. When I asked him about it, he said that was what the charge is and it is about 20% less than a BMW dealer. I paid the bill and when I got to the car, it was FILTHY! It obviously had been sitting out during the 5 days at the shop, had bird droppings on it and looked liked someone baked cookies on the windshield! I asked him if they include washes and he said, "Yeah, sometimes we take em to Pearl wash". That was his only response. I sent the bill to my BMW dealer and they "laughed" when they saw the bill. They said this was not 20% less then what they would have charged. For me this is more principal. I am a single mom with limited automotive experience and feel as if I was taken advantage of. On a positive note, I do believe the work that was done was decent quality as the car is still running.

I was working a job site in the area and I got a flat tire. I found the company vans spare was no good! I saw this shop a few blocks away from me so I walked down. One of their guys walked out with me, he checked for a similar tire in stock, they had one. Another tech drove in the company car/shuttle to bring out the tire-- they replaced it there. We took the van back and they balanced it & rotated the other ones.... it took like under an hour for me to get out of there. I went from bad luck to good service. I had coffee, granola bar and watched tv while i waited.

Dropped off my Subaru on Monday, April 25, 2016. Smoke came out of the engine a day before. Certain the engine was burned, I expected a hefty service charge. I was wrong. The staff at Family Auto Service (1) explained to me what had happened, and (2) continuously notified me as various tests were running. Within two days I had the car back. When the low oil light turned on in my fairly new vehicle, I panicked a little and drove to the closest mechanics shop I could find with good online reviews. Im so glad it was Family Auto! They were very kind and just as concerned about the problem as I was. They had the issue resolved and my car back on the road in less than an hour. I came in to Family Auto Service with a classic truck that was not running well and had leaf spring that needed repair. Family Auto Service worked with me to recommend fixes they could perform and allowed me to leave the truck at the shop while I ordered parts, which Family Auto Service then installed. The truck is running well now, and I will be using Family Auto Service again for all my cars in the future.

I read other reviews before coming here and Family Auto Service did not disappoint! As soon as i parked and opened my door, someone was there asking me how Im doing and what they can do for me. The waiting area is clean, large, and they have a great (clean) play area for kids. My daughter loves the kitchen set! Friendly service, reasonable prices, and a great environment.
