Oh my God. This gym. Is incredible. Ive never been in a gym that was so clean and inviting as Equinox. Natural lighting, beautiful design, friendly staff and clientele, and lots of open space for stretching and floor work....and I could seriously live in the bathrooms. Oh, and good music too! Okay, so Ill start with the locker rooms. Exceptionally clean and well designed. This is the first locker room Ive ever been in that didnt make my anxiety soar through the roof. In fact, I feel so comfortable in there that its soothing after a long day and intense workout. They are very large, so I dont ever anticipate not having space to get dressed or an open locker to use. They even have small lock boxes that you can input a code in case you forget a lock. There is a very nice eucalyptus steam room to de-stress, and then there are the showers. The showers are beautiful...private stalls with frosted glass doors and a wood-slatted floor. They are spacious and have a separation in two parts, so on one side you can hang your clothes and towels without them getting wet. There is a wooden bench, and a supply of Kiehls shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Im very particular about the products I use, and I adore Kiehls. My hair has never looked better! A bunch of things are supplied in the locker rooms, and its a relief not to have to bring my own everything. They have eco-friendly towels, Kiehls shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion, Q-tips, cotton balls, Kleenex, Solano hair dryers, hair spray, deodorant, hair gel, shaving cream, razors (which are the cheap kind, so I still recommend bringing your own), and mouth wash! There is also plenty or mirror and counter space to use, including individual beauty stations. The main gym is fantastic. Its supplied with all of the latest machines, is very spacious (I hate feeling crowded!), and has big windows looking out that bring in natural light. They have a very nice stretching area where the floor is soft, and the cardio area is plentiful with machines and has many flat screen TVs to watch on various channels. Every time Ive been there so far, there were always machines available. They have 4 separate rooms for designated classes. One large mirrored room with high ceilings for the various studio classes, a spinning room, a yoga room, and a pilates room, which costs extra to use (it requires a trainer, I believe). The yoga room is especially breathtaking....soundproof and serene, away from all the chaos, a true place to escape. It even smells like eucalyptus! The first time I went for a yoga session, I brought my own mat, but I was very impressed to see that most people used the mats provided, and now I see why. Ive always been grossed out by provided gym mats, but these were incredibly clean. After the class, the yoga instructor asked everyone to leave their mats so that they can be cleaned! The classes have been exceptional so far. A wide variety, and a lot of fun. And of course, very effective. Equinox also offers an online feature where you can track and log your workouts and book classes. The only class youre required to book beforehand is the spin class, however, and I havent had a problem getting a spot in the others. When you sign up, they also give you a lot of great perks, like a free session with a personal trainer to get you started, and a discount on your first purchase in the shop (which is divine, if youre into the high-end workout wear). There is also a lovely spa in the back where you can get massages & such. (At an extra cost, of course) Lastly, they have a small food/smoothie bar. I havent bought anything yet, but they have some free samples that were delicious, so I am already a fan. This gym is pricey, sure, but to me, its worth the money.

Company doesnt honor cancellations. Managers will have you fill out the form and then refuse to submit it. Very unethical, all attempts to reach management have gone unanswered. Staff members take down your message and then the manager never calls you back. As for the gym, theres nothing special about it all, especially this location - probably the smallest Equinox location and thus it is just as packed as any other gym in the LA area . . . . At $200+ a month . . To the people that insist the staff members make-up for the gym not being big? Ya, these are probably people who need to pay for friendship. Imagine all the equipment you could buy for yourself? Did I mention eucalyptus oil is very cheap? The slogan - "Its not fitness, its life" is interesting considering this gym is only good for people who are only interested if theyre working out in a group and arent motivated to work out on their own - . . Adopt an entrepreneurial mindset -why pay exorbitantly high rates to make other peoples dreams happen? Pay to make your own dreams happen because at the price of this gym . . $200 x 12 months, imagine how much more fitness could be a part of your life if you set-up your own gym at home

Equinox Marina Del Rey is a great little neighborhood gym. You see a lot of the same faces each day, and most of the staff is very friendly. The good ones even make an effort to know your name. The gym is kept clean, they offer unlimited towel service, and provide some nice amenities in the locker room (razors, Kiehls soaps/shampoo/conditioner/lotion, etc). Theres also WiFi available for no additional charge (notice how I dont say "free"). Overall its a very nice place to workout, and a person can get spoiled by the level of service (as compared to LA Fitness or 24 Hour Fitness). There is limited space, which means limited equipment, and when its Prime Time, there are almost as many trainers on the gym floor as their are members, which can make finding open equipment very challenging.

I enjoy spending a lot of my time at this Equinox because its large, clean, and the trainers & teachers are really friendly. I have utilized some personal training, yoga class instruction, and pilates privates and have really quite enjoyed all of them. There are always cardio and weight machines to jump on even during the busiest times. The managers are a little pushy when it comes to scheduling you for your complimentary sessions (attempts to up-sell). I was also told when I signed up that I would be able to visit out of town locations if I was traveling for work and that hasnt proven to be quite so easy, I generally have to pay a visitors fee.

I am not one to EVER leave bad reviews. However, I received calls at 5am and 6am from trainers in New York City AGAIN this morning. After calling and calling; asking to have my personal cell removed from the system they have done nothing. Mind you, I am never in new york so why they are that unorganized I have NO idea. Point being, never give EQ your personal number, as no one will respect your privacy. I signed up for a membership and got a membership phone call and email every day following. Also, I advise you to not sign a contract. If you move somewhere without an EQ.. good luck getting out of it. Buyers beware.

This Equinox is not very big but the staff and members here makes up for it. The front desk staff Bethany & Robert are so friendly. The mangers here (Nick, Angelica, Ben, and Eric) are very personable and very willing to improve your Equinox experiences. Fitness instructors here are super friendly. I enjoy taking Katies & Renes spin classes. Also try Susie Franks & Ajis yoga classes. Theres not as many workout equipments as other gyms but I can find other substitutes. As long they keep this place very clean and not smelly, Ill keep coming here.
