I brought my car in for an air A/C diagnostic because I had a coupon. They added Freon (for a charge) and said that it was fixed. They stated that there were no Freon leaks. Had to take the car back the following week when the A/C quit working. They stated that they couldnt check for leaks because their sniffer was broken (I guess that is why the didnt detect a leak the first time), so they added Freon and told me to bring the car back in a few days. I brought it back, and they checked for leaks stating that they "could feel it with their hand " and changed the high side hose and o-rings. Before I picked the car back up they said that they found another leak in the condenser and it would need to be replaced. After the condenser was replaced, I picked up the car and drove it for 3 days before the A/C quit working. Took the car back and they replaced the low side hose. The A/C didnt even last a day. I took it back on a Friday. On Monday I got a call from the manager saying that the evaporator needed to be replaced. Basically after weeks in the shop and over $900 my A/C was worse. The manager stated that the work that they did was "the right way to get to the real problem" and that a new evaporator would cost over $1000". Had they have quoted me $2000 to fix the A/C to begin with, I would have taken it elsewhere. For the month of July, my car was at Midas more than at my house, and it never got fixed. We filed a complaint with Corporate and they had us take it to the Turlock Midas for a second opinion. Turlock Midas looked at it and said that the Merced branch did it the same way that they would have. I asked Turlock branch if every part needed to be replaced or should they have been able to locate the leak the first time. They repeated the previous statement. I wouldnt recommend the Turlock branch either. Its hard for me to believe that EVERY component of my A/C system went out at the same time. I dont believe that there was no way to find the problem without replacing everything. And if that is the case, I should have been quoted that. I did get the A/C fixed by another garage. It cost $800. They were confused at how Midas could charge $900 and not resolve the problem. So am I.

If I could give this place -5 stars I would. The mechanics dont know what theyre doing. They lie. They try to make themselves sound smarter than what they actually are. I came in with my car making a loud noise, I only wanted that problem resolved. They called and told me they were 99% sure that it was one thing, turns out it wasnt. Which they knew and still operated on the thing they knew was wrong. Idiots!!!!!
