Rude, abrupt, unhelpful, vacuous I spoke to two people over the phone explaining my fitness needs vs time commitment challenges. I was advised to sign up online for a free pass and visit their site to try the gym and determine fit. I signed up and arrived at the gym shortly after. I had to register there again. While reading the forms, a trainer, I believe Scott, kept asking me abruptly “how can I help you” without an introduction or giving me a chance to complete the forms. He was rude, unfriendly, and unhelpful from the start. He seemed rushed even though the gym was slow. He rushed me through the forms, I explained my requirements again. He eventually asked me where I lived. And it turns out since I live in the city, I cannot try the Mountain View location even though I spend a few days per week here. It was a simple filtering question that should have been asked over the phone or as part of the online form I filled out to get a free pass before getting to the site. You need to enter your zip code when you sign up online on a local gym website and if your area is not qualified, then don’t issue a free pass or at least issue a user alert. The visit was a complete waste of time. And Scott continued on being rude and condescending insisting that I should have read the fine print in the registration confirmation email. Terrible experience. Will not become a member at any location.

This is a brand new facility (2008 I believe) and it shows. The equipment is very nice and its never crowded, because its huge. The locker rooms can be a little bit crowded, but not too bad. Everything (in the dry area) is exceptionally clean, new, spacious, and nice, and the room where the do the classes is also very clean and nice. The one bad thing: the wet area (pool and hot tub). First, the pool is only 3 lanes, so its often very hard to squeeze in. But the really bad thing is terrible, horrible water quality. They really dont know how to take care of it, or maybe they just dont take care of it - its disgusting. There are always chunks of nasty stuff floating around in the bottom. Its foggy and massively over-chlorinated (the inside of your mouth even feels raw after swimming). Id put this in the bottom 10% of pools, comparing to several dozen, in the past 10 years that Ive been regularly swimming. I dont know what other pools do - higher-volume filtration? - but if you are looking for a gym with a good pool, this is not a good fit. (This opinion is gathered from using the pool about 20 different days over the course of a year.) (Oh, one more thing - this pool is still 100x better than the Sunnyvale 24-Hour Fitness pool, for which there are no words.)

2016 Membership fees are higher than ever! Qualitty is very LOW!! Showers room and swing pool area closed for the last 3 month. Drains are not working at all in this building from the restroom to showers and etc... That is NASSTY! Nothing has been remodeld since, which i was told when i was paying for my yearly membership! Im member since 2005, and this is the worst it can get, and we are in year of 2016. Equitment are old and dirty!! Cant touch nothing and nowhere you can step. I also was told by the support team that a chinese company bought 24hourse fitness. This my last year as member, defently it is wrong to suport such a dirty and nassty place, which supposed to be a place to relax and enjoy! PAY MORE AND GET LESS!!!!

The equipment is somewhat newer, but the stuff is arrogant, and lazy! I waited 15 minutes for my personal training appointment, and I asked them to call the trainer 3 times, she says she didnt hear it, and they didnt bother to go check in. They have a room for kids care. But, the managers (or who say that they are managers) are very arrogant. This place is definitely not worth the amount of money we are paying. The classes are also very crowded, and instead of increasing the number of classes, they keep coming up with new rules. Last Sunday there were no towels, no soap in womens shower room, this Sunday water was cold, and again no soap in the shower. I told this to the guy at the front desk, and he didnt seem to care.

I agree with "Armaggedon". The personnel are mostly polite and helpful. There IS a marvelous diversity of race/ethnicity/age (especially age: I do believe that about 30% of the 8--10 a.m. members are in my age range (60-75)). The place does NOT smell, and there is little if any ogling. Not pristine, sparkling clean, but NOT dirty, either. And, yes, the morning folk will generally find available cardio machines. One can argue that the facility could be a touch better maintained at times, and surely some equipment should be replaced, but overall the Mountain View facility is far from the 1- or 2-star disaster portrayed by some other reviewers. But then De gustibus non disputantum est. Nick Fortis

First, the people running the gym, who try and take your card at the door and interrogate people as they come in, are horrid. I think 24 hour Fitness went down to the local prison (or juvenile facility, since the people at the door act as though they were 12 year old gang members), and loaded up the short yellow bus with prisoners. Then they hired them to run the front desk. I am not kidding. Its that bad. If you can get beyond the front desk (and even if you are a long time member, thats not a given), the gym is overcrowded, smelly, old, and disgusting. The Yoga classes are run like a high school gym class, with the emphasis on jumping jacks and pushups.

I work out here after work because its the only one in the area. Its always so crowded here and I dont like how the weight room it in its own little hot box. The sun is blaring into this room after 6. Some shades for the windows would help significantly with heat and with being blinded when youre trying to workout. The weight room is very inadequate as well. Only one squat rack that isnt a smith machine. No seated calf raises, calf extensions, or donkey calf raise machine. From what I can see only one place to do pull ups. Theres never enough benches available. I end up bouncing around spending more time trying to find open equipment to use than necessary.

For the facility itself, its actually a little better than before (as before the Super Sport opened), as fewer people uses it now. The equipment is all beat up, but adequate. The problem is the service. People there, from manager to the staff running the front desk, act either like used car sales people and/or jerks most of the time. Do staff get training on how to be predators against customers at 24 hour fitness? When you try to enroll or cancel, membership, the staff there always give you a hard time, and most of time they are wrong. I pulled out the their membership policy from my iPhone and showed to them, and they still gave me crap.

I love & really enjoy coming to this facility. Been here for almost a year. Staffs are very nice, but I do have an issue with one particular staff member name Steve. Twice, Ive approached front desk about an issue I had with my membership & Rob who was helping was very patient, genuine about my situation & was very helpful. He needed authorization from a manager & Steve came to take a look and was very RUDE. This is the second time i was being treated this way by this man. He shouldnt be a manager if this is how he treats his customers. I refuse to have him help me again from now on. Scott, is a wonderful manager.
