This is hands down the worse Equinox I have ever been to. Ridiculous year long contract terms (even Comcast has a month trial period to opp out if you are unsatisfied). The locker rooms are small and consistently plagued with wet floors, dirty sinks and bathroom stalls with funky smells. The classes are terribly inconsistent with one of their instructors informing us that the speaker system was broken so he put music on his phone and told us it happens all the time. The gym layout is odd with a ton of open area and lacking in equipment for its large size. The parking is usually full and the front desk seems unhappy to be there. After numerous contacts with management its clear that the team needs more training on how to treat members and their staff, whatever community college they came from its clear business management was not their focus. This gym is stuck in the past, suburban in its clientele and pedestrian in equipment and service. For the rates they demand it should at least compete with its sister locations in SF or LA but instead it reminded me more of the 24 hour fitness clubs I have been to. If I was in my later years and wanted to take a mediocre spin class I would really like this place but Im not and I do not recommended this gym. Pros- juice bar, outdoor pool Cons- gym management, cleanliness, outdated contract obligations, old equipment, classes and instructors, parking, and lackluster atmosphere.

Sure, its pretty expensive, but Equinox is a great gym and youre paying for what you get. The gym is super clean and has everything I need for my lifting, as well as plenty of cardio machines. Very rarely have I ever had to wait to use anything in the gym. There are plenty of complimentary classes, but Ive only done the Vinyasa Yoga, which I enjoyed. There is also a pool on the roof that Ive used a few times before accepting the fact that Im a terribly inefficient swimmer. I could pay a trainer a lot of money to make me more efficient, but... its a lot of money. Its the little things that really make Equinox worth it for me. The chilled Eucalyptus towels sound absolutely unnecessary but are incredibly refreshing if youre working hard. The endless supply of Kheils shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion leave me feeling SO SMOOTH after a workout. The complementary razors in the shower room have helped me keep my abnormally large head bald and shiny for months. All staff members, from the greeter at the front desk to the staff who keep the place spotless, are extremely friendly and personable. If youre thinking about Equinox, come check it out. If the price tag scares you, try looking at it as a commitment device. Youll certainly be pushing yourself to get the most out of that extravagant monthly membership fee!

The focus at Equinox Palo Alto is on aesthetics, not maintenance or function. The gym looks great. However, many of the weight machines are long overdue for major repairs or replacement (example: weight stacks stick to the rails because they are so worn.) They place squat racks and other equipment in front of windows not mirrors so watching your form is difficult. Other machines that are in front of a mirror are placed in ways that also make watching your form difficult. The sinks in the locker room are either hot or cold and the electronic faucets decide, not you (most are broken and you cant adjust the temperature. But hey, they look good). The mens locker room is very crowded and hot in the mornings making getting ready for work difficult and sweaty. Trainers take up a disproportionate amount of machines/space leaving their iPads and other personal items on equipment so they can have their clients work on 3 machines at at time during peak times. Equinox does periodic surveys and Ive spoken to management on several occasions but nothing seems to change.

Watch out - they dont honor their commitments. Review keeps getting hidden - probably the equinox. Watch out - they dont honor their commitments. Upon joining I was promised a gift card to the spa, shop and this never happened despite several attempts of talking to management. Because the manager that had signed me up had been fired, they wouldnt honor what he committed to. Also, very unclean and unfriendly - I was a member of the San Mateo location for several years, did pilates and trained there. This is an entirely different experience - I would never shower in the locker rooms in palo alto its so dirty and over-crowded. Also, they make everything difficult - freezing your membership, booking training, etc. its very poor customer service. Management is rude and arrogant. If you want a gym in the area that has a higher-end feel, try the JCC or NoXcuses in mid-town, much better staff and experience.

I have been offered $200.00 membership for 24hrs and I didnt like the 24hrs gym. I decided to explore different gyms, by accident I noticed the Equinox and I tried different classes for the first complimentary days and as soon as I attended the Dancation class by Heath Hunter, I made up my mind to signe up. Heaths energy is phenomona and he is a creative performer. His class is full of life and excitement, even on some days that Im not in a good mood and lack of energy, attending Dancation turn on my energy to my ideal level. This gym is very clean and has a great cleaning crew. I love this gym....It was the best choice for picking up the gym for me so far...

Everyone treats you like a king here, top notch customer services. I am not a member here, but I visited this place a few times to check out their gym, very clean(yes coming from a germaphobes here). Love their second floor swimming pool, as if I have stepped into a whole different world there. Id love to be one of their members but they are too far from my home =( , always on a watch out for their new location near Cupertino .

I have asked Equinox for the past two months to cancel my membership and they continue to charge my card. Beware, they do not respect member requests for membership cancellations. This is a highly unprofessional practice and fraudulant to charge people even after you have requested to cancel the membership for several months. Yana Lusher and Kesha Collins from their member services team are not representing the company well.

Dirty, especially the mens lockers where guys shave in the steam room and dye their facial hair in front of the mirrors leaving permanent black marks on the counters. Shower drains clogged with what looks like pubic hair. Long lines at the shower, too cold water in the pool, unfriendly staff, crowded classes, "reserved" equipment by members who leave their stuff on them till they finish doing whatever...

very expensive. they recently expanded in summer of 2013, but didnt expand the locker rooms, so it can get really, really crowded in there, which also means that since they expanded, the cleanliness of the locker rooms has gone down hill big time. in the end, they got bigger, charge more, but quality went way down. i moved over to the bay club in cupertino even though its farther from work.

Out of all the Equinox locations Ive been to on the east coast and in SF this is one of my favorites. Its very large with a ton of equipment, cardio machines, and group fitness spaces. This place gets very busy. Even at 6AM the gym can get fairly crowded. Id say thats the only negative (and also the increasing membership fees). Ive also found the crowd here to be very friendly and nice.
