We moved from California to Idaho in Aug,2016. The guy who moved us knocked a hole in one of the doors in the house we moved out of by tipping a dresser into it, trying to move a heavy piece by himself. He scraped the walls in several places with the hand truck, damaged the thrushold, no protection used, did not have boxes or packing, used what we had, crammed boxes into filthy under the truck compartments ran out of day, came back the next day to finish the move with a car, getting the truck ready to leave the following day. When our stuff arrived at our new house, he hired two teenagers to help him unload, we refused to allow them in the new house, remembering the damage to the other house, we had everything placed in the gatage. They managed to damage an ethan allen buffet, 4 out of 8 dining room chairs, a metal patio table, looked like it was dropped off the truck, scraped the finish off of a wesley allen iron bed, destroyed 2 Stiffle lamp shades, boxed with no packing, ruined a panasonic plasma TV, no proper handling, and I could go on, naming further damage, I named the Brands of furniture, because this is not JUNK, the driver was careless, inexperienced, and incompetent in handling household furnishings that were not boxed. you ask why we didnt stop the move when the door was damaged, well, this is a personable young man "with his own truck" (north carolina license plates) starting his own business, we wanted to give him a break, as we both worked from young ages and know how difficult it can be to get started and they loaded and protected my husbands Harley like it was fine crystal, not a scrape or a scratch, surrounding it with many blankets. The office staff, at Chipman, are teriffic. It is too bad this driver was was not a mover.

This was our first experience with a long distance move and I must say we will never recommend Chipman to anyone other then an enemy. It started with the fact that we paid for insurance to cover any issues with our home furnishings etc. So we were told. The Sacramento portion seemed to go OK with the loading of our home into the trailer. The issues started in Arkansas when the trailer was being unloaded. Furniture was dropped and damaged throughout the day. They were more worried about when they could be done then where the furniture actually needed to be put. There was over $6000.00 worth of damaged furniture and appliances and we were told that the insurance was for an accident while the furniture was in transit not for damages during the actually moving of product from house to trailer or trailer to house. It has been the single worst experience we have had with a company that will not stand behind its product. I hope this helps someone make a better choice to whom they will use to handle all of their valued belongings in the future.

These folks showed up one hour too early, reeked like an ashtray and damaged 3 pieces of furniture, one of very sentimental value. Average with cost. Would have paid twice as much not to have the offensive odor of tobacco that filled the entire old and new place and not to have the damage to the furniture. Do NOT use Chipman Relocations. It was a very bad experience. I still look at the damage and kick myself for not going with the other company.

We have used Chipman Relocation both for a local move (2015) and then a long distance move (2016). Both moves were positive experiences and the attention to detail and thoroughness in responding to our questions, requests and adjustments were immediate and positive. We recommend them without reservation. We really enjoyed working especially with Dan Walker and Teresa Galavan in particular.

Moving is stressful, and having careful, good workers is always appreciated, which the company provided. The company was also good about answering questions and being attentive to the project. Ours was a relatively small move, but I felt as though we were a priority for the company.
