I have only been to one other rock climbing gym and Vertical Hold with its convenient location with Saint Archer brewery right next door has instantly become my favorite rock climbing place. The facility is very clean and the staff is friendly, safety conscious and helpful. I took the belay class to get certified - it was confusing at first (especially for a novice), but the staff was helpful and it really clicked once I was able to belay a real person. They test you with you figure eight skills too. Especially since its easy to make pretzels instead. They have all essential gym climbing needs and have all new bouldering set up. They have a number of difficult climbs as well but is still a great place for all levels of difficulty from beginning to advance. Tip: On Mondays they have a student discount too, which includes gear rentals.

I have been to various rock climbing gyms on the west coast, Im a member at Vertical World in Seattle. I was pretty disappointed. For one, why would you have actual stones as ground for the bouldering section with pads on top?? why not just actually have cushioned floor??? I really didnt like the disorganization of the bouldering routes. Different color tapes distinguish the routes in a way that was chaotic and disorderly. I dont want to be confused if the hold is for me or not when im on an overhang above pebbles and a mat that may or may not reach me if I were to fall. Invest in actual color coordinated holds! The new Mesa gym is superior for sure.

We made reservation over the phone to bring a group of about 20 kids. We were given no advance warning about the lack of parking - there are only a few spots on the lot and the rest is street parking. The man behind the counter was less than pleasant. At the end, when it came time to pay, they tried to charge us extra for the patches for the kids, even thought there is no mention of an extra charge for the patch on their website, or any of their own paper work. The man got argumentative with us in front of the kids and families, very unprofessional. He ended up giving us the patches, and the kids had fun, so thats what matters most.

Love climbing here. Some friends and I have started coming here regularly taking advantage of the discounted military rate on Fridays. Even without that, its a great value relative to other gyms. The routes are awesome and bouldering is fun. It can get pretty busy at times, but there has been plenty of room to do SOMETHING, at least a repeat. My only complaint is that some of the employees are lacking in customer service, but with this activity, Id rather have someone that knows what theyre doing and be a dick than someone super nice and not be able to answer my question. Id give them a 9.5 out of 10.

Ok so this may not be the most expert review since I am very new to climbing. I went to this gym for the first time today with my fiance and I had a blast! The gym was admittedly slow for a Saturday and that made for a great time for beginners. It was clean, fresh and the service was, as selected, excellent. The guy Jamie at the front was super helpful and very nice. I will definitely be going back for the punch card and when I start working up there in two months I will for sure get the monthly pass. Great place and well priced. I had a great time!

I was in town for a conference and was struggling with the idea of going a whole week without getting my climbing fill. Searched "climbing gyms near me" and ended up here. They were super friendly and helpful. Went to a really excellent yoga class. Really enjoyed my time here. Only complaint is that those rental shoes were the worst. I had to climb quite a few levels down just because I couldnt get a grip on anything.

Vertical Hold is really awesome. if you go there often, but not often enough for a membership, i recommend getting the Lunch Pass punch card. Lunch passes are only $10 and are purchasable in the weekdays. with the 10-go card, it is cut further down to only $8.50 a go. Perfect for kids and adults of every skill level and the staff is super chill. one of my main activities whenever I visit back home!

The atmosphere is quite good, the staff are always helpful and the people who use it generally are quite enjoyable to be around. I accidentally left my lock with key inside in the locker room couple of weeks ago, came by 3 days later and it was still there. a nice reflection of the people who use the gym. And it is encouraging to see the routes changing more often lately.

Great 1st Time welcome! Thanks to Dorian and Dana for answering my Qs and fitting my awesome little baby girl with her shoes and Chalk Tote for her hard worked sweaty hands! Other guests were awesome and definitely a great spot for a family focused on climbing and learning . Thanks for the High Five at the end of her day, it made her very proud...

Amazing place! Vertical Hold accommodated my group of 20+ on such short notice and was fantastic! We came as a team bonding activity and when it was time to go no one was ready to leave. We will definitely be coming back... on a regular basis! Staff was awesome!

Top rope runs were good, if short. Bouldering runs are impossible to distinguish. The colors are all mixed up, I couldnt find start or finishes for half of them. Very sloppy setting work. Rock floor was concerning at first but not a problem.

The largest of the three locations for Solid Rock Gym. Featuring lots of room for bouldering and lead climbing. The staff changes up the routes about every month or so but this location seems to be bit tougher than Poway or San Marcos.

Good gym, two bouldering areas with the larger area being top out and 18 years or older only, due to the height of it. Water fountain, small changing rooms and a basic gym area too. The Vibe has a locals feel about it.

Great place for my family and I to get some great time together and build a lot of memories. My kids have discovered that they can conquer many of lifes obstacles by taking lessons learned from their experiences here.
